Strange bug.

Does your iPad still connect to your cased Airpods when the last device you used them with was your iPhone?

I'd think this may be a way of preventing this bug from happening, as you normally have to manually connect the Airpods to a new IOS device - it won't auto pair between devices.

I don’t think so I— I use them with my iPad most frequently, because I work on my iPad. I’ve only noticed this happening when the last device i used them with was my iPad.

While it isn't half the cost, you can definitely use them one ear at a time. They play just fine if you only use one.
Yeah, this is how I get through a day of two-hour conference calls. Switching left-right-left-right.

How are air pods superior?

They aren't in comfort, price, sound or durability.

They are superior in everything you just said. They are beyond comfortable you hardly notice they are there except for sound.
They are way better in sound than original Apple EarPods are there better sounding earbuds probably, if the AirPods actually came as an "in ear" variety you would be hard pressed to find any better. Price they aren't the cheapest but they are not the most expensive either by a long shot. As for durability I would put them up against any other wireless buds and would put money the AirPods come out on top.

I absolutely love my AirPods! The case makes it very easy to carry them around and I never run out of battery. They are smartly designed and it's very cool how you pair with one iDevice and all the others know about them and can connect on demand. I really like the sound quality too. Not at first as they need a week or so to break in.

Another strong endorsement for AirPods. I wear mine 2 or 3 hours each day, working around the house or walking in the neighborhood. I like that I can still hear vehicles while I am walking and enjoy my music. I just started using them with my TV and love the sound I am getting from my movies.

AirPods are a no-brainier. They’re fantastic. Unlike some Apple products, they really do “just work”. So simple. And none of the massive irritation of wired headphones. Use them every day.

Just bought the airpods today at my local Apple Store and tried them on for an hour while heading back home. Im loving it so far, though I feel that the fit isnt 100% for me. Maybe like 90%. It gets a little loose after a while and I have to push them back in now and then.

One thing I absolutely love is the pairing process. It is just so dead simple! I love it when Apple releases new products and the technicalities of using it just melts away. You just use it. No fumbling around, no setting it up. Just use it. Also the airpods on my ears are very light. After a while, I don't really feel them on my ears. It just becomes 'invisible'!

I love my AirPods. I use them every morning when I work out, and for several hours at the office. Dead simple to use, and easily the most portable headphones I've ever owned.

Yeah, they look a little goofy. But whatever, so do I.

Just picked up a pair and used them for about an hour. I do have the BeatsX as well. The EarPods never fit my ears and just wanted to try them to see if they fit. Though they are not in ear like beatsX, the AirPods actually fit me. I tried jumping, running and never popped out. Sad thing is, I had to put the AirPods back in the box and wrap them up till xmas hahhahaa. The hour that I used them I actually enjoyed them and the sound quality was not bad. So a Yay for me.

Is there any alternative or another brand similar to Apple AirPods? I see similar products on Amazon and I don't know if they work as well as Apples or not. Those ones on Amazon are a little cheaper than AirPods.

Unless they're made by apple or beats(apple) they won't have the W1 chip which is what makes these so convenient in that they automagically connect with your iphone once they're on.

I wish they would make freakin earbuds, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. Their design has too much noise leak both in and out. I don't like to disturb others with my music, and I prefer not to hear everything around me. Earbuds solve both of these issues for me in public places.

Beats x is the closest alternative to airpods.

I like my AirPods enough to keep them, but I have two pretty significant gripes. One is the fit— I was hoping they would fit me better than EarPods because some people have found that to be the case, but they don’t. I still wouldn’t mind if the case just had a little room in it so that I didn’t have to take the Earhooks on and off. Definitely not a killer, but seems like it shouldn’t be that hard for them to come up with a solution to make them more versatile.

Two is that I’m having a really annoying experience of them connecting to my iPad while they are still in the case. This happens ALL THE TIME. Sometimes it just seems to happen randomly, and it runs down the charge of my left one— that’s the one that connects out of the blue. Sometimes it happens when I start a video conference— about five or ten minutes in I’ll think I’m having a technical issue because I can’t hear the other person anymore, and I’ll realize that my iPad randomly decided to send audio to my AirPods in their case. I need to be careful and sometimes just turn the Bluetooth off on my ipad. Because it really doesn’t want to let go of the AirPods.

The iPad issue is interesting.
If I am listening to my air pods and walk near my iPad the iPad seems to grab the connection from my phone.

You should take these to Apple to be looked at. Sounds like the connector isn't connecting when you have them in the case so the AirPod thinks it should be connecting to something.

I may be reading this wrong, but I take you're saying as you're listening to Airpods on your iPhone, but when you walk near your iPad, the Airpods connection from the iPhone is dropped & retrived by the iPad automatically?

This isn't how it should work - you should need to manually pair the Airpods to a new IOS device, to prevent the scenario I think you've experienced.

The Airpods are paired to
iPhone X
10.5 pro
12.9 pro

When either of the iPads covers are opened, the iPhone connectivity is lost. Especially when the iPhone is stream music while reading a book on the iPad.

I just tried to mimic this with my setup, but couldn't - the connection to the iPhone was retained whilst the iPad cover was lifted & then unlocked (via Touch ID) with a book open on the iPad.

Thank you.

It’s bizarre and frustrating.

Yes. AirPods LOVE iPads. Same thing this morning, where my left one was dead because it just has to connect itself to my iPad at all times, no matter what, even while it’s in its case, unless I turn off Bluetooth.

My two cents. Had the exact same question as the OP. I have been using JayBird X3s which I like, except the cord is too short and annoys me. Also the plastic tips constantly fall off the headphone. Have lost so many tips.

A friend got the AirPods and was going on and on about them. I never really cared for the look, but after my friend’s recommendation I thought I’d try them.

They sound a lot better than I thought they would. The sound is different than the JayBirds which overall sound better. That said the AirPods sound good. The AirPods provide a great experience in my opinion. Like the customizable taps, they are very comfortable and fit me fine, it’s great not having the connecting wire. Work well with phone calls.

So in response to your question, put me down as yay.

Next to the iPhone 3G, the AirPods have been the Apple product I have been most impressed by.

I thought the shape, weight and feel of the 3G was a revelation.

Same with using AirPods..... totally forget I'm using them, they integrate so well.

At my age I couldn't give a **** how they look, and I'll say it, 'they just work.'
