Re: looks, I actually think they're fine. Seeing comparison videos like the one below makes other designs look weird to me, as if they're gigantic blobs in your ear, or those industrial foam ear plugs.

Airpods seems to fill less of your ears &, providing they're flush with your face, the stems flow down your cheeks & look sleeker to me.

Thank you.

It’s bizarre and frustrating.
Are you able to take all the devices into an Apple store? I'm sure they'll help you out by testing another pair to determine where the issue is.

100% yay! I love mine more than I even thought I would. The battery seems to last forever. I use them together for music and just one in my right ear for phone calls. I have actually been on a phone call, and run outside to take out the trash, and left my phone in the house without losing the call! I have a small house though. :)

Just in case you were wondering how robust these are... in an absent minded moment I put them in the pocket of my swim shorts and forgot them. In fairly short order they were taken for a half hour swim, put in the sauna for twenty minutes, spent a very pleasant ten minutes in the spa, were spun dried for ten seconds, and finally went through a full cycle in the washing machine. When I finally discovered them in the pocket, now fully dried, I was amazed to discover that they still worked, perfectly. They were pretty clean too.

With respect....No way!? This is unbelievable.

I am waiting for January 5th. A very good reason for that date.

Massive Yay for me. The sound quality is great enough for me since I use them exclusively at home in bed watching YouTube/movies.
The killer is the next to nothing weight and freedom from wires. Also a close second is the quick pairing. Easily one of my most pleasing gadget purchases this year.

I will be receiving these for Xmas. After taking a call on the iPhone, will it automatically connect to my MBP when I start a video? Do I have to go the bluetooth settings each time I connect to the MBP? I've seen a video where the guy clicked on the volume button on the menu bar for options however my 2017 MBP only has a volume slider with no options.

If you were watching the video on your MBP when the call came in, then, if the MBP behaves like other IOS devices (not sure as I don't use a MBP), once the call ends the video should resume play.

This is a real event right?!

It automatically connects to the nearest device. So if both of your devices are within the range of the AirPods then it will not automatically switch to MacBook because it’s already connected to iPhone.

Thanks for the info. So if my X is in my pocket and plan to use my MBP, I have to manually disable bluetooth on the X? What's the smoothest transition or steps to do this?

OP Here, so after a week or so, i thought OK i'll get some. Except that they were hard to find, however found a pair last night at a walmart, A little early christmas present to myself right ? lol this was after searching pretty much all the stores locally, everyone said, you'll need to order them for a Jan del. Anyway very very impressed with them ! Can't believe how good they are in matter of fact. I was a bit upset at Apple when the X first launched, cos of the price, and i was planning to make a move over to Android, but when you get how it all works together, the watch, airpods it just makes it all worth it. So yeah its now a big Yay !!!! from me. Very impressed !

Personally… they’re not for me. I prefer the beats sport headphones. I tried the AirPods for a week but they just kept falling out especially in colder climates, they just get knocked out with scarfs and hats. As I say they’re not for me. One of my employees has a pair and also confirmed the hat and scarf problem. He opted to just drop such clothing items because he likes how the AirPods look.

I wasn’t happy with audio quality and lack of controls. Hence my preferring the beats instead with that remote section between the two earpieces.

Another problem is that I couldn’t operate the iOS device as I wanted. I have an Apple Watch but due to coat sleeves it’s not possible to operate the music controls. Therefore it’s a million times better for me to use the Beats and why I could never even consider AirPods, ever. Ultimately Tim and Apple still get my money.

I found that case irritating too. Having to carry around that seems like another dongle to keep on oneself. As the owner of a MBP… the ones that fell in love with USB C… I’m sick of needing additional tools to achieve previous goals.

You don’t have to disable Bluetooth on your X, you just have to click on the Bluetooth icon on your Mac and select the AirPods from the list.

I face this issue from time to time but have learned to deal with it.

Lack of control as in volume? Forward and rewind is possible and so is play pause. Albeit restrictive.

One of the best things for me has been the case which enables me to not care about battery life, for it being a Bluetooth device.

I’ve tried the AirPods on two occassions at the Apple Store. They didn’t fit securely enough in my ears, and they let too much outside noise in making it less enjoyable to listen to music or make calls. Rubber winged ear tips would have solved these issues. Sound quality is decent if not outstanding, and I did like the ease of pairing to devices.

Ended up with the Bose SoundSport, which is currently on sale and undercut the AirPods’ regular price.

I easily go between two iPhones, Apple watch and my MBP with my AirPods. I seriously love these things!

I just now got back from a 3 mile midnight walk and took my AirPods with me. I thoroughly enjoyed my walk.

In NYC I see so many people with them that they are becoming commonplace. I mean they are all over the place. I've gotten so used to seeing them that they look like normal headphones and not goofy at all. I personally love them but unfortunately they don't stay in my ear so can't use them.
Yeah the earpods don't stay and the airpods are the same thing. I hope Apple make an IEM form. I'm not sure what their aversion to the IEM form factor is.

They use to have a version of their earbuds that were IEM so maybe there’s some hope.... unless they decided to fulfill that market with the beats line only

Bottom line - airpods are Uber convenient, but worst sound of all the ones I’ve tried. Really wish they sealed better. Been on a mission to find a set of true wireless I like.

Have tried Jabra elite sport, jaybird run, and Sony WF1000x. Jaybird and Jabra both sound excellent with jaybird having a more comfortable fit, likely due to Jabras expansive outer ear size but they do a lot of sport tracking with that an athlete would love. Jabra also have cool exterior microphones that when switched to pass through sound almost functioned like hearing aids when music is paused. Winds kills it though.

Sony was biggest disappointment, just couldn’t get a good fit and they stick way out and feel wobbly.

ALL of them besides AirPods have a video lag that is maddening. Just the tech I guess. But all sound much better than airpods.

Also compared to budget Bluetooth earbud sets I had such as Anker, Aukey and the pricier Beats X ( which don’t sound great at 3-4 times the price of the other 2). Beats actually got returned due to sound quality and it remains to be seen if I will keep the AirPods.

While they are WAY convenient, I don’t like being able to hear a mouse fart at 100 yards with them. Great if you want ninja situational awareness. Less great if you want to really enjoy your music. Especially public transport commuting they were really ineffective sound wise and just really detracted from music or anything. REALLY had to crank them even to full to overcome that.

Hmm. Your description indicates they're not fitting as best they should. I can't turn the Airpods up full volume as it's way too loud. The only situation I do this is when mowing the lawn where they can be heard clearly enough.

I'm usually at 88% volume max at gym, to drown out the music on speakers there.

I did not get the AirPods for their audio quality. We all know they just weren’t made with that in mind.

I use them for my 2 hour walk to work and back. With the city noise any audio quality would be lost, unless I used something like Bose’s QC35 with active noise cancelling. Though being able to hear traffic is very helpful.
I mostly listen to online radio and podcasts during that time too. Not much of quality material tbh.

I use them so much, that my use of Bluetooth in the car has decreased too. Better call quality with the AirPods and I get to take the music with me when I get in and out of the car.
The more I use them the more I like them. I did not expect to like them that much when I got them!

+1 on the video lag, it’s driving me nuts and I don’t know what’s causing it. I’m thinking it’s because all of the headphones I’ve tried have older Bluetooth 4.1 version. Currently using the Jabra Elite Sport and love them except for this darn sound lag when watching video. I wish the AirPods would fit my ears ugh!
