Alternatives to Dropbox since it has been down since Friday

I use Dropbox to upload all of my photos and videos and synch with all of my Macs. This has been my solution to getting files from my Mac to my Note 2 and now Note 3. Well, since Dropbox has been down since Friday afternoon, I need to find alternatives.

Suggestions that will allow me to upload photos and videos straight from my camera on the Note 3 and synch with all my Macs?

Dropbox has been up for me, could it be regional. Have you tried contacting them?

Copy is my favorite.

In all honesty, it is basically a complete ripoff of Dropbox with 2 advantages.

1. More space. You get 15GB free to start and 5GB for each referral with an unlimited number. As you can see below, I have quite a bit of storage myself :) Never paid a dime. Just sent out a bunch of referrals all over the web. MacRumors doesn't allow it, so if you want a referral so you can start with 20GB free

This added space is great for syncing photos and videos, which Copy does automatically through what they call "PhotoCopy", which is like Dropbox's "Camera Upload" feature.

2. "Fair Storage" is probably their most unique feature compared to Dropbox.


Say you are working on a group project with 5 people. You invite a team mate who then invites another team mate and so on. You all have 20GB. Well for your group project if you have a shared folder, you actually have 100GB to work with between you all. So not only does Copy give you more space than anyone, but they also let you use it more efficiently than anyone.

And of course, like Dropbox, you have no file size limits or anything like that. Works on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Mac, and Windows (not sure if they have a Linux app). It really does work like Dropbox.

And the desktop app lets you undelete files which can be pretty handy.

Thanks for the suggestions. I keep checking various blogs on the web and apparently it is still down for a small % of users, and unfortunately, I am one of those. It has been two days now, and this is what scares me about depending on the cloud...

Google+ auto uploads your photos to the cloud and can be accessed by any Apple device. Plus, love when Google 'auto awesome's your photos, creates a very cool end of her video of your photos and can allow anyone you want to see certain folders or individual pics. Makes it easy to text and email photos too.
I don't even bother with Dropbox anymore, since I have Google Drive and Google+.

If it's in the Cloud...

Sooner or later they all go down, no system is perfect.

I have used Dropbox, amongst others, for years with extremely high uptime periods. This recent issue did not affect me, or if it did go down in my area it wasn't for long. I've been in and out of Dropbox more than usual for the last week since I'm modifying how I use it.

Most importantly is I refrain from storing mission critical business & personal files in anyone's cloud. I made the investment years ago in a very secure personal network, with NAS on site and off site backups. In fact a portion of it doesn't even connect to the net.

It's my data and I keep it that way. I've always been careful and I'm not letting all the buzz about "Cloud Computing" change that.

i think he might have been half joking….
but TBH….that was my first thought to after reading that you get 15GB to start. Then 5GB free for each referral. Then seeing as you have well over a TB….that is a TON of referrals to get to over a TB from just 5GB increments. So no need to be snarky about it is was a fair remark.

I've been using skydrive for the past 5 years. Best cloud service I've used. Might have to upgrade my 25gb soon. Google drive isn't bad either. I consider both much better than Dropbox and they come with MUCH more than drop boxes paltry 2gb

I agree, SkyDrive is much better than SkyDrive. :D

Skydrive FTW. Being able to edit my files and documents right thru the web browser won me over.

least if you use google + you can back-up photos and set it so it only downloads when you are charging.
