I’m always tapping the top of my screen, but there is nothing there.

Also, if you want to refresh from the bottom of a page, you need to:
1. Scroll up to the top; or
2. Open the web settings

which is not very good in term of accessibility.

No you don’t, tap the 3 dots in the address bar then tap reload. 😁

Oh yeah, that’s what I meant by web settings lol. Didn’t know how to call it.

it’s just that you go from one-step to two steps refresh.

I don’t fully understand why people are getting upset there’s one extra step to refresh - it’s one thing if you have limited mobility and rely on voice or switch control, but really one extra tap doesn’t seem like a big deal?

I find the new safari much more usable - switching tabs is much faster, the bottom URL bar is much easier to access when one handed, I love the Shared With You section, and I like that all the functionality of the browser can be easily accessed in one spot. I think these big improvements are worth a tiny inconvenience.

give it time; just as you adapted previously to new ways of doing things in the OS, you'll adapt to this... probably just in time for them to change it up again 🤣
This is the problem with change... majority feel there wasn't a need for UI change, I had read Federico initial thoughts on new Safari. And he had plenty of issues with it. Mind you, I can't speak for iOS 15.

But Safari on iPadOS 15... I like the new Address/Tabs animations, Federico wasn't into it.. felt it's not needed and could cause motion sickness. Then, how the tabs dynamically change based on which one is active... he thought it was too confusing. My only issue with iPadOS 15 for Safari... there's no quick way to make a new window.

I'll have to put a Safari window into SplitView then slide it all the way over to make a new window, I'd rather make a new window AND then choose whether I want to make it SplitView. Why implement the new shelf feature and not have it readily available? That needs to be tweaked.

i hear most of this, but where do you get 'majority' from? is that your opinion, or is there factual evidence that speaks to this? ie was there a poll i missed where most ios beta users voiced this concern?

No factual evidence... no poll, but from various post on here and reddit. Perhaps, I need retract majority... since that doesn't reflect the actual public.

that's all i'm saying. the people who discuss these things (here, reddit, apple, etc) are the nerds (am sure there's a better word), the ones who obsess over the details; most people just use their devices.

it's so early in the beta cycle, we know some things will change, or... change back. but i don't mind learning new things, as long as i can get done what i need to get done.

I hated the 1 additionnal tap to refresh a page, until I noticed we now have "pull to refresh".

It makes the experience consistent across other apps and I have a good feeling it's going to become the new norm for competitors too.

Pull to refresh what? If you are at the bottom of this forum, you need to scroll way up to refresh instead of clicking a simple refresh button…

I am liking the new Safari design in iPad OS 15. It seems better with a iPad Pro and Apple keyboard.

Don't like it - I wanted the back and forth arrows to go to top of screen as they are on almost every other app or browser. So they moved all to the bottom so it doesn't work as others do.

am getting used it; it many ways, it's smarter; it's more-easily accessible than at the top of the screen...

Or you can press the 3 dotted circle in the address bar and then “reload” the page if you’re further down it 🙃

You don’t understand why people don’t like having to go through more steps than before to do something? Generally the intent for introducing change is to make something more convenient, not less, and if others don’t care about the new features being added, then it’s easy to see why they wouldn’t like having to do more steps for old features.

i dunno, but am liking the 'new'; just seems easier to navigate, it's cleaner... think (as i said earlier) one just needs to give it time...

So the show all tabs button is no longer on the toolbar. I know the pinch gesture still achieves the same thing but unfortunately there is an increasing number of websites where the pinch gesture to show all tabs does not work. This is on previous versions of iPadOS so it is not a beta issue. It appears to be due to the way some websites are designed.

That’s great for you, but that wasn’t really my point. For those that don’t care about the new features, this update just makes things a little less convenient for them. And even if you do like the new features, certain things (like refresh) are still a little less convenient so it shouldn’t be hard to see why people are unhappy about that particular thing.

and, as with all things apple, you'll adapt, and soon enough, it will seem as it it always worked this way....
