Hide the stupid address bar down the bottom when scrolling and I’d give the new safari a 10/10, only thing I don’t like about it, we’d get even more screen real estate with it gone.
Just because you adapt to change doesn’t mean it’s better. You’re basically saying nobody should be allowed to criticize something because they’ll eventually get used to it.and, as with all things apple, you'll adapt, and soon enough, it will seem as it it always worked this way....
Let me rephrase myself:You don’t understand why people don’t like having to go through more steps than before to do something? Generally the intent for introducing change is to make something more convenient, not less, and if others don’t care about the new features being added, then it’s easy to see why they wouldn’t like having to do more steps for old features.
not saying any of that, am just pointing out that whining about something won't change it back. and it's worth noting that most ios users will adapt, and get on with their lives.Just because you adapt to change doesn’t mean it’s better. I don't understand why people defend every 'Apple feature' like a sheep. A reload button is not mini led which has several pros and cons over oled so one may find it better or worse for his/her use case. It is just a reload button. Removing it will make experience bad for some. Adding it won't make any difference for the one who are okay with its absence so what is the problem in adding it?
You can just tap the status bar to go all the way up.Pull to refresh what? If you are at the bottom of this forum, you need to scroll way up to refresh instead of clicking a simple refresh button…
I would say the same, but just for the sake of security, in the end I prefer that it's shown.Hide the stupid address bar down the bottom when scrolling and I’d give the new safari a 10/10, only thing I don’t like about it, we’d get even more screen real estate with it gone.

would love an option to put the address bar to the top.Seems to be a change for the hell of changing something. We have literally been living with the search / address bar for 20+ years always being on top, no matter which browser or operation system you use and now I am supposed to tell my mother how to use the internet again? I wish it was optional. Also the stupid thing keeps messing with cookie banners
Who’s whining? I haven’t seen a single person in this thread whining about the changes. Just people voicing their opinions.not saying any of that, am just pointing out that whining about something won't change it back. and it's worth noting that most ios users will adapt, and get on with their lives.
if you don't like a change, or a feature, or whatever... you can say so. and i can make my point too. we're all entitled to our opinions.
He’s not saying people who don’t mind the change are sheep. He’s saying the people declaring that it’s the best option for everyone and nobody should be complaining about the change because Apple decided this is the way things should be are sheep.I don’t really think anyone was saying “No! Adding a refresh button is bad!”
What I’m trying to understand is why it’s such a big deal to people to the point that they call people who don’t have an issue with it “sheep”. 🤔
Not saying get rid of it completely, just fully hide it when scrolling.I would say the same, but just for the sake of security, in the end I prefer that it's shown.
I bet the new Safari is designed in SwiftUI, so it would be extremely easy for Apple to make it optional.I wish it was optional.
i hear you; if i skip the whiny threads, i also would not see a 'single person in this thread whining". really, tho... opinions are great, as long as people understand the difference between 'opinion' and 'fact'.Who’s whining? I really don’t understand why you’re being like this. I only mentioned this thread because I’m not scouting the forum looking at everyone’s complaints. Our conversation was limited to this thread so I based it off of that, but if you want to quote or link to people in other threads whining to back up your point, be my guest. I’d really like to see that. I’d like to know if what you consider whining is really just critiquing or people actually pitching a fit.i hear you; if i skip the whiny threads, i also would not see a 'single person in this thread whining". really, tho... opinions are great, as long as people understand the difference between 'opinion' and 'fact'.
you put me on the defensive; i defended myself. other than that, am not claiming anything more that what i'd originally said; am not referencing 'everyone', just... following the thread, and posting my thoughts; that how this works, yes? so let's move on. i mean, i will if you will... 👍I really don’t understand why you’re being like this. Also odd that you mention opinions vs. fact when you’re the one acting like everyone that doesn’t like the Safari changes is wrong and shouldn’t be upset because it’s not a big deal to you.
No, you’re not. It’s unintuitive and the design is confusing and sloppy.I’m always tapping the top of my screen, but there is nothing there.
Also, if you want to refresh from the bottom of a page, you need to:
1. Scroll up to the top; or
2. Open the web settings
which is not very good in term of accessibility.
But the iPhone X made sense: they got rid of the home button, so they needed a new way to navigate.I will be honest, it is going to take some getting used to. I won't go as far as saying I hate it, or it is terrible, but realistically, any major change like this will require some form of "user retraining" until it becomes familiar and natural.
One could say the same thing when the iphone X first launched. A lot of people missed the home button because they were used to a button. Personally, I thought the swipe was 100 times better than a button but that was just my opinion.
