Where on Earth can I find simple tones that ring. "ring ring"! Maybe some odd sound tones, but a ring. Something I can have go off while in a meeting at work. Anyone?

I rarely find a song that I like that also makes for a good ringer. Recently I've used a modem dial-up sound (kids, look it up) and Colbert's "Your phone is ringing!" ringtone.

I hate songs for ringtones. And while we are discussing it, I hate ringback tones.

I've never understood this. Old fashioned telephone sounds are annoying.

How is a ringing sound better than this?

My default ringtone.

If my volume is turned down low that's a soft background sound that's not annoying. I have a coworker with a normal "ring" sound and it's very obvious and attention grabbing. Not subtle at all and terrible for an office setting.

Maybe. I use the Monday night football sound. Soon I think it'll relate to baseball.

I don't like songs as ringtones. My ringtone is a ringtone being murdered by an ak-47. I like it and it makes anyone standing next to me laugh.

Yeah, that's not bad. I actually like it. I'm thinking of the people who use there favorite rap song or some other stupid song, esp when there are words and you can't understand it anyway, and everything is distorted.

I don't like using music because I find that whenever I pick a song as my ringtone, I end up getting sick of it faster.

And not only that.. as soon as my phone starts ringing I pick up anyways, so the song gets interrupted.

Thanks to MacDawg I use Harry Caray singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game.
Go Cubs!

No, you're not the only one who uses discreet ringtones - I make ringtones specifically to fulfill that function (see signature). That being said, you're probably in the minority - it seems most people don't realize and/or don't care that their ringtone makes them look unprofessional or just plain silly.

I almost always have my phone on silent. But for alarms and such, or when I need to hear my phone and can't feel the vibration, I'll use the default Palm Pre ringtones that I downloaded into it. I suppose I like them, because they're different. I only wish I could change the text tone (without jailbreaking of course) because now there are so many people with iPhones that I get confused as to who received a text message. It wasn't a problem almost 3 years ago.

Here is my ring tone that I have been using now for about 3-4 years.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V29GrZPYHQw.

The section I am using goes from 41 sec - 1:07.

It something that is odd ball enough that I am the only person who uses it but it not annoying so if it went off at work it not like one you scramble to cover up like one guy I worked with who had "My Humps" start going off when a call came in.

As for some places to look for good ringtones got to crackberry.com and look threw their ringtone library. If you find one you like go threw the ways you would normally change a MP3 to a ring tone for the iphone and you will be good.

I agree that is crap. My tone for text messages on my blackberry is the from the Transforming sound from G1 Transformers.
