Well, it's not really half baked, but it is a x.0 version. In my opinion iOS 12 is way better than any iOS before it but yet it seems half baked. I do see the speed improvement on my mini 2 though.
Notifications could be grouped and sorted prior to iOS 11 (or was it 10), but the grouping would just put related ones together without combining them into a stack or anything like that--so you would still have to scroll just as much if you had a lot of notifications.I think it's a great update and folks shouldn't hesitate to upgrade! My list of features that are clear winners:
1. Grouped notifications. If you prefer scrolling down a wall of notifications like on iOS 11, not sure what to tell you. Honestly, I thought we had this feature in iOS 8 or so and it got pulled? Could be wrong though.
2. Performance.
3. Automatic install of iOS updates overnight. Surprised noone is talking about this. Turned on by default so everyone will be upgraded to the latest quickly.
4. Security Code Autofill.
5. New DnD options and Notification options.
Overall, very solid update and Group FaceTime is coming. Now I need to go find 31 friends to make use of it.
Not turned on by default. For my two phones, after the install, iOS 12 asked me if I wanted to turn on the feature or not. It’s part of the initial setup process.3. I haven't noticed any difference in the performance of my 6S. There's a few UI tweaks that are welcome changes. But my battery still runs down just as fast.
What does it say under "Battery" about the battery health?I haven't noticed any difference in the performance of my 6S. There's a few UI tweaks that are welcome changes. But my battery still runs down just as fast.
What does it say under "Battery" about the battery health?
Is it supposed to look different? Looks the same to me. Battery percentage and a battery icon.
That’s probably because the battery is junk now. Same on my 7+.
Under settings go to battery and then battery health.
Apple defines 80% and under as worn.Quite possible. I considered contacting my local Apple Store about replacing my battery, but decided to buy a XS, instead.

Ah, ok... it says my Maximum Capacity is 81%

Also, what does it say for Peak Performance Capability?
Time to replace your battery. Luckily it's cheap at Apple until the end of the year.Just the description: "This iPhone has experienced an unexpected shutdown because the battery was unable to deliver the necessary peak power."
Did the the battery not have to be below peak performance to qualify?I don't need to replace my battery, but I might anyway in November, just to take advantage of the battery repair program with the discounted pricing.
For eligible iPhones, the battery does not have to be below peak performance to qualify. But it may be bit of a waste of time and money if your battery is OK and you're going to upgrade the phone next year anyway.Definite performance improvement here.
ios12 has fixed my lethargic ipad-mini and the airpod drop-outs that I have had since 11.3
Although now... my attention is shifting to the user interface....if only they had changed it....

This year Apple will replace the battery at a discounted rate whether or not it's worn (by their definition or any other).Definite performance improvement here.

Pretty much once it goes under 90% the effects start becoming noticeable, and as it gets closer to 80% or below it becomes that much more obvious.Yep. Mine is 85% and sucks.
iOS 6 wasn’t broken and they redesigned it anyway... what did you think about iOS during the iOS 7 days? What's wrong with the design? I like how subtle improvements are made to it, but the basics stay the same. No need to fix what isn't broken.
