I wasn't planning on upgrading this year...but now I might have to for the Max (but really, I don't like that name).

Not only is it an S phone, but even the A chip is barely a step up that they named it an A12 "Bionic". Even the camera is barely improved.

I hoped to pick up a used X for cheap but think the Xs is such a downer, I'm worried there won't be a lot of people upgrading.

The 200 species fish app is definitely the biggest invention since iPhone ;-)

I just wanted a couple of upgrades:

  • Landscape FaceID
  • More RAM
The RAM is negligible, so that's fine but if FaceID is still limited to portrait, that might be a deal breaker to me. I use it a lot and having to flip around a 6.5" screen each time is going to get old very fast.

Exactly what I was expecting. Bigger deal if you're after a bigger phone, otherwise it's iPhone Incremental. Same with all phones these days, not a dig at Apple.

Tim trying to sound really excited when he introduced them was so forced lol, reminded me of Steve Buscemi, "How do you do fellow kids?" for some reason.

I'm not sure what you were expecting, we've been getting all the leaks since last year, maybe a round iPhone would make it more cool? Of course we all are going to see from now on are improvements of already powerfully working techs.

Dual Sim IS a good feature if you need it.

Sadly, my work phone is a Galaxy that loses 4% battery if i breathe on it. Can't BYO.

Use my X all day at work, hits about 35% in the evening.

Only ever use work Galaxy to answer calls, 3 a day maybe, read, not reply to, work email. Have to enable power saving mode by lunch time lol.

I never get too excited, there will never be huge breakthroughs. However I did a dumb thing last year and got 64gb, which I will not do this year. All I care about is the camera and now that it is ip68 that is just icing on the cake.

I am in for a Xs (non max!)

It's pretty much expected, the S is typically a spec upgrade. This year the main thing is the larger 6.5" size and faster everything.

Not enough for current X owners to upgrade but great for those who are coming from older iPhones.

I'm happy that they have finally realized that gold + black look good together and no more white front panels with the gold.

My work phone is a galaxy too. Hence dual sim being awesome ...

To be clear, I'm in complete agreement :)

Lucky you if you can use your own, heheh. I've no choice in the matter.

Battery management is useless on it. Did all the usual tricks, new battery, restore etc, but alas.

Mixed bag but I’m curious of pricing. It’s about par for the course of an S-cycle imo tho.

Dual sim seems to have its ups and downs. ESIM...

The camera enhancements seem stellar, if they work as advertised.

The display though beautiful And stunning, unchanged from X to XS, is disappointing. Screen is everything

The 30 minutes more is stupid disappointing that wasn’t even worth a preface ‘people want battery life’ give me a break

Especially for 40% power efficiency improvements in A12 Bionic. That means this thing is doing a mad man amount of neural connectings,

Someone dropped the ball 40% and only 30 minutes? Sad!

I still don’t know what the deal is with FaceID... is that unchanged too?

I always like speaker acoustic improvements!

Yeah, 30 minutes is negligible given it'll be hugely dependant on usage.

My X battery is fine for my usage though thankfully.
