Here is the thing though: Very few of you commenting actually watch Amazon Prime Video anyway (because it’s terrible). So ads or no ads… you won’t notice. 😂
There are some good shows on Prime (Reacher for 1).

I watch... Infrequently.

Good Omens, and some originals that eventually go to FreeVee anyway. (the two my family enjoyed binging the most were both on FreeVee before we were done? And both of them are available for a steal through Apple, if we want to avoid the ads...)

That's what I don't get about this.. Amazon already has an ad-supported service. This is just diluting the experience in a way that anyone who pays attention to what they watch and how much of it ends up on a FREE ad-supported service.. why won't they just bail on Prime completely?

It's like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing there?

I'll sit tight until I see just how bad it is, then kill the Prime subscription until Good Omens is back for it's final season.

More dodgy behaviour from this company. Charging extra to remove something they're going to add is 100% dodgy.

Bin them off.

I had had an Amazon account for 15+ years until one day I had to reboot my Fire Stick and I immediately got an email thanking me for signing up to a new Prime monthly account. I hadn't done any such thing, so I called them and got it cancelled. Then I selected to view the info of a movie - not actually play it, just view the synopsis about it - and I got an email thanking me for signing up again. I called them and the Amazon rep actually said I'd watched a movie - in five minutes - and I'd accepted the Ts&Cs to start the new account. Absolute lies from them, so I told them to delete my account. "But sir, you have a Kindle and will lose your books!" "I don't care. Close the account and never darken my door again."

I hope they realise at one point, this is financially a bad move. Of spite, during the last batch of price hikes, I cancelled my Netflix sub. It's easy enough to turn on and off when I need it, and now we just make sure all episodes are released and watch a season within a month. Instead of being chill about about it, and leave the subscription active all year round. So, the went from 12 months of subs, year on year, to 1-3 month maximum.

I love how the email Amazon sent reminds you of the value you get. They mentioned a show that they ended (Jack Ryan) and also mention that you can pay for channels like Showtime. Not sure that is a good way to emphasize the value of Prime Video.

The problem with this service is it’s just not worth the fee in the first place. I had for a time then cancelled earlier this year as I got sick of there being next to nothing new to watch.

At this rate, Sherwin Williams will run ad’s to watch paint dry.
an that ad-spot will have noting to do with paint
or drying.
just a bunch of millennium fit humans laughing enjoying life in say.....a taco store.

meanwhile Taco Bell will have a commercial of the Chihuahua painting a Lexus SUV

As long as one of them isn't that Jardiance commercial every time she jumps up and down my 75" LG falls off the wall and I have to get it replaced.

At first Netflix added no ads and charged me and I did nothing
Then Hulu added no ads and charged me and I did nothing
Then Youtube added no ads and charged me and I did nothing
Now Amazon will add no ads and charge me and I will do nothing....

Now I'm homeless but thank goodness I don't have to deal with any ads!

How about a lower monthly cost Prime option with no Prime Video? Their content is mostly sub par.

Disagree on the content. Found many great items on Prime that are not available through other channels. Can't beat the price. Limited advertising will be acceptable, but just don't interrupt my show in the middle!

The shipping times are a joke and now this? I just cancelled Netflix……will bin this when my subscription runs out. Scummy move 🤬 the world needs to send these greedy b@$t@rd$ a message…but it won’t😢

Anyone that complains about Amazon's shipping hasn't experienced shipping delays through other companies. One company that I order from takes 3+ weeks for items to arrive.

What is a "joke" to you? 3 days?

A "joke" is paying for Prime Delivery, being promised next day delivery and then delay after delay until it's days before you get it...some people have to order things at the last minute for a trip, event, etc...and if you pay for next day delivery Amazon should darn well deliver on their promise or refund you the price of the product and eat the cost.

I still haven’t digested their newest tvOS app. It’s so busy with windows expanding, previews playing in the background, confusing controls, ….

What is the basis of your "greed" conclusion here? What is Amazon's current profit margin on Prime Video? What would be a fair (not "greedy") profit margin?

Prime membership prices substantially increased 17%

Prime promised deliveries ( 2 day ) is no longer completely valid, as most ( at least in DFW TX ) have increasingly been getting delayed resulting in a quality of service decline, while increasing the membership cost

Whats the current profit margin on Prime Video ? That, as consumer is irrelevant .. But, as for corporate greed, let's see..A market cap of over $1.6T, over a 12% revenue increase YoY, a net profit margin of over 200% and stock earnings over 234% is quite telling!

With that logic if one company is bad, then everyone else should be bad too.

Amazon provides great service so they know how to ship fast- just depends if they cut back things or not. Yes a joke is 3+days if they promise/quote same day or next day delivery at time of purchase.

Paying extra so I don’t have to see useless ads seems like a protection racket to me. The constant ads everywhere make me grit my teeth, especially the singing ones (sorry Zach Braff, I love ya but I gotta mute those T-Mobile ads) . I am an old lady yelling at a cloud, I guess…

You used to watch TV for free and it was subsidized by ads.

Now you pay to watch TV with ads. SV is such a scam
