Then I have different question. Is the 9500 framebuffer linked to trash can design for Mac Pro? If I remeber 666's statement correctly, it is.
Each framebuffer kext contains a set of framebuffer personalities (= connector definitions). I've attached the full list for AMD9500Controller as of 10.2.1 final.

Most interesting things in there: Guariba and Dayman match RX 480 reference boards pretty well, Acre is similar to RX 460 (doesn't match completely though).
Baladi defines 6 DP ports, which looks a lot like Mac Pro, but it might actually be a iMac definition (2 DP streams internally and another 4 streams externally, used on 2-4 USB-C ports?).

Polaris 12 could be either the improved process for Polaris 10, the yet to be released RX 4x5 series, or maybe Polaris 10 (improved also) but with GDDR5X or even HBM2, which is doubtful.
But things get interesting.
Maybe we'll k now on the 13th.
No news then, even on beta 5?

If I remeber 666's statement correctly, it is.

AFAIR is said there isn't one that exactly could point on a nMP next revision ;)
Baladi looks pretty trashcan-like to me, but lacks HDMI-only "co-personality" like previous trashcan personalities had. It would be BaladiS if naming scheme from 7000 Controller will continue.

AdoredTV calims that he had info that on 13th AMD will NOT show Vega GPUs. But they will show RX 490.

That is somewhat both confusing, and not at all.

Thanks for this, 666 :).

Edit/Update: C94402 Board (Polaris 11), C98101 Board (Polaris 10), C99398 Board (Unknown Flagship).

Vega will have different name. This C99XXX chip is part of Polaris family, possibly: Polaris 12 - RX 490.

Sounds like dual Polaris 10. Its about the right timing too. 6 months after Polaris 10 release. It would be strange though to push a dual board as a flagship if Vega is less than 6 months away.

Here is a fun strategy. What if AMD always releases a "mid-tier" chip as a mainstream part and then a dual GPU board 6 months later as the high end. This goes along with the strategy that GPU makers won't be able to make giant GPUs like we had on 28 nm going forward. Maybe AMD told Apple this 5+ years ago and thats why the mac pro has dual GPUs.

AMD has been doing this for each of their base few generations. If they are really banking on heterogenous computing and multi GPUs with opencl/directx12 then this could fit right in.

If they would, we would already be seeing boards for Dual Polaris 10 GPUs. There is not a single indication for this, and GPUs should've been in the works for last months.

They always do dual GPU, but made from top of the line, highest end GPUs. R9 295X2 was made from dual 290X chips. Radeon Pro Duo - Dual Fiji XT chips. Not midrange hardware.

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...os-suffer-from-major-graphics-issues.2019261/

Where are all the people complaining about AMD's terrible driver quality? If this was happening on NVIDIA you'd have to expect folks like SCSC would be foaming at the mouth as they rage about how bad the NVIDIA drivers are.

If you mean where are all the complaints in this forum, well I wouldn't expect people to complain in the MP forum about problems with the new MBP--it's the wrong forum.

If you are literally just asking where are the complaints, the article you point out actually has a link to the 10-page thread of complaints.

Now this confirms what I always thought about those "insider" news. They didn't even bother to look into the driver themselves to make their own screenshot, but saw the posts from some uninformed nobodies on tmx86, ripped it off without giving proper credit, cropped it a little and sell it as their "truth".

No surprise they've been horribly wrong that often in the past.
Its even funnier when you know that someone on Anandtech forum has done whole thread about the GPUs, and later it was caught by sites: WCCFTech, VideoCardz, and even some youtubers have posted films about this, completely messing up the information.

Well, if you want to get free moneyz each month, become a tech journalist, these days ;).

I have had a hint from someone on another forum:

Raven Ridge APUs are also in AMD9500Controller. Can anyone confirm this?

If you would read this thread, you would know that we have already discussed this ;)

But not in detail. Do you know what is Polaris 10XT2 then?
Neither do you know what is Polaris XT2 ;).

About AMD and Polaris 12, I guess everybody was a bit wrong.

This is a post from very long past, and one of best sources in the internet... He was talking about Polaris chips. So it appears that Polaris 12 is bigger chip than Ellesmere. And the one that will be the RX 490.

What do you guys reckon it will use as memory? HBM or GDDR5(X)? ;)

http://radeon.com/en-us/radeon-intel-bundle/

RX 480 bundled with Intel Core i5 6600K.

Well to further increase the scale of happiness in people wanting AMD to be bought by Intel - Navi might be produced in Intel Fabs.

To be straight. Its all part of the license deal between AMD and Intel.

Intel needs their fabs to be fed with production. Intel will pay AMD 340 mln $. Exactly the amount AMD had to pay for WSA amendment to GloFo. And AMD can produce thanks to this on any fab they like. TSMC, GloFo, Samsung, Intel.

Hmmm, AMD building their GPU with a competitor's CPU.

I wonder how the AMD CPU division feels about that. The company meetings must be awkward.

AMD is one company that has two divisions: CPU and GPU. For both responsible, as well as the rest of the company is Lisa Su - CEO of AMD.

The meetings are exactly like their should be done. If both, Intel and AMD can win in this that means that one company loses - Nvidia.
