They are probably waiting for drivers from Apple as well.View attachment 1746132
The 6800/6900 are already on Sonnet's eGPU list for Windows, so was this statement meant for Apple/macOS only?
You are correct and I appreciate your precision but my Razer Core X Chroma will easily cover the power requirements for the 6800 XT which I covet, so not a big deal. I'm more concerned about the fact that AMD says they will not support the cards for eGPU enclosures. Who will supply the drivers? You should be calling the vendor of the GPU, not AMD. Every AMD GPU is different. For instance, a Gigabyte 5700 XT Gaming OC requires 600w PSU (total system draw) and uses 8+6 pin PCI cables and on average draws 187 watts. The Sapphire 5700 XT Nitro+ draws up to 413w in 1ms spikes but despite that Sapphire claims it uses up to 265 watts and recommends a 650 watt PSU (total system draw). The 5700 GPUs are known to have 'high transient' (huge sudden spikes and drops in power consumption).
I don't know about the 6000 series GPUs but I really hope AMD fixed the spikes. They are more power efficient though.
I’m tempted to buy a card and test it out. My local computer store has some cards in stock, and official support from Apple has to come sometime soon.Another new beta got released today....
Uh... wanna buy me a 6700 XT an I'll e-transfer you some money? LOL.... (serious, my 5700 XT is constantly giving black screens).I’m tempted to buy a card and test it out. My local computer store has some cards in stock, and official support from Apple has to come sometime soon.

How much you spend for 6800xt? is 1400USD in here(China)...Ordered a 6800 XT today, expect it will arrive on Tuesday (thanks to Easter). Will be able to start testing it with the betas then.
Pretty crap it's taking Apple so long to support new cards. A huge part of the benefit of buying the Mac Pro was it's upgradability, if Apple's going to control the drivers so tightly and take forever to release them (if at all), it further throws into question the long-term viability of the platform.
That's wild, then again what I paid still feels a bit wild. Was AU$1600 for a 6800XT, I found a store with AU$999 6700 XT in stock but I figure might as well go for the better card now. 6900 XT was AU$2500 (for one in stock), that felt like it was pushing the value too far.How much you spend for 6800xt? is 1400USD in here(China)...
That's a real shame.I put an AMD RX6900XT into a customer 5.1 machine.
it even wont post (no chime).
I added an uga GPU and it got to a Firmware loop (loud chime, chime, chime, chime....) in one second rhythm.
I asume a glitch in the RX Bios with Mac Firmware.
Mac Firmware was 144, rebuilt with latest bootloader.
GPU was new in a sealed box.
have no PC to double check the GPU but doubt it is defective.
Mac and GPU is back to the customer.
Did PSU mod for powering the GPU. But also doubt it is current related.

What OS❓I put an AMD RX6900XT Reference Model into a customer 5.1 machine.
Come on, be serious, you know it is a 1500€ GPU at todays crazy prices.Well, I guess I could take one for the team; send it on over & I will do some testing in my PC...! ;^p
Others have, works with Windows, no acceleration in macOS so far.Someone needs to throw a 6900 in a 7,1...
