not a chance. The battery life on the ONE is already good with all of the bells and whistles that HTC adds. It will only get better with those thing removed.

So then why was the battery life on the Nexus 4 so bad? Judging from the user reports on here, of course.

Nowadays you can get great battery life with or without OEM skins. It all comes down to kernel optimization and who cam pull it off the best. Maybe LG faltered on this with the Nexus 4, although I've never owned one so it's only a guess.

That is my guess too. Everyone who roots and replaces the kernal on the n4 gets much much better battery life. It is definitely related to the phone and not the fact it is running pure stock android.

Look here are mine from the HTC thread. Take a look and decide for yourself :)

You can check pictures taken with the One by users here on the HTC thread, honestly the quality is not terrible, its not s4 or iphone 5 quality but for social media or if you dont print photos the camera is fine.

I appreciate the links. My issue is that this is WITH additional camera software. I would assume the stock One would come with, well, stock camera software (which is really subpar IMO). It is a pretty safe bet that we will see bits and pieces of HTC's flavor ported over, but until I see that actually happen, it's only hopes and dreams, really. Those aren't as bad (read: actually not bad at all) as some I heave seen and complaints I hace read though, so I have hope.

I bet samsung is a little annoyed. I honestly do not see why anyone would pick the S4 over the ONE at $50 cheaper and double the storage. I would think battery would not be an issue not being removable. Running stock android I would assume it would get through a day for all user types.

lol why not ? Same reason they alllready pick a gs4 over a one :) better camera, sd card, replaceable battery and bigger screen are the reasons people get a gs4 instead of the one, majority dont really care much for unlocked bootloader crap etc.

I was just thinking solely from the google edition variants of the phone. I like the nexus but it is lacking in Battery, LTE, and camera. The s4 Google edition fixed that, and now the one will do that in a cheaper version.

The only reason I am interested in picking the One over a S4 is that slcd screen.

The rest are preferences. Camera may not be as great, but as long as it is better than a nexus 4, I am good. I find the n4 camera to be ok after tons of practicing so anything better is great.

In short, the One is going to have a 1080p screen, bigger battery, a better camera, 32gb of storage space, and LTE, pretty much giving me all I wanted from nexus 4.

The only thing I might be worried about is battery life, but we shall see.

My only issue with the s4 is its amoled screen. I have no issues with plastic or anything else. Screen is the only differentiator for me between One and S4 when it comes to stock android.

Good news is it's coming out and bad news is there's still no fix for option button bar that taking up screen space on bottom instead of adding double click back button option.

no sense, no zoe, no blinkfeed, no IR blaster! no thanks! i'm good with the original htc one.

yep, all of those awesome features which define the htc one are gone, i dont find any reason of buying that phone.

Isn't the ir blaster part of the actual hardware? I don't see why it would be gone. I knowrthe htc app won't be there, but I'm sure it could be side loaded.

My hunch is that LG cheaped out on the radios, causing the phone to use much more power when the cellular radio is engaged.

My brother rarely uses data and his screen on time matches my experience with the s3 with full on data engaged. Perhaps I am wrong, but connecting to 3G drains the battery crazy bad.

I wonder if this is true? The IR blaster is already there. Why not utilize it?

True... Stock Android is no picnic. I don't get what all the fuss is about. Half of what makes android good is the manufacturers software. The one without sense 5 is a 4MP metal tube!

Makes Android gay? I had no idea a mobile Operating System had a gender, in which it could then specify sexual preference towards said same gender.

You could just download an app like this

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yZW1vdGVmYWlyeTIiXQ..

(it's just it wouldn't come with HTC TV software)
