Its really disgusting at how much T Cook kisses China's ass. It's in every ad.
Yeah...there is so many potential new customers over there. He kept trying to schmooze them and donated a lot of money to trying to buy his way in but it didn't happen.

Its a real watch from the sidelines. I think they just opened their 40th store in China....and keeps investing. Like his chips are all in. Then he says he wants to expand production to India freaking everyone out a bit. Very interesting game plan.

I do think he was completely sideswiped by the quick rise in quality and cheap prices on the Chinese Android market. That and nobody cares about the Apple logo or the proprietary services.

Samsung beats analyst forecasts, posts $7 billion profit guidance for Q2

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sams...osts-7-billion-profit-guidance-for-Q2_id82976

That translates to at least ~$6.94 billion windfall for Samsung, which is at the top end of analyst predictions, and the best quarter that the company's had for the last two years.

Samsung rings up sales of 26 million Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge units to date

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sams...-Samsung-Galaxy-S7-edge-units-to-date_id82971

Despite the brisk sales of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge, the devices together might not break the company's all time smartphone sales record for a one-year period. That record is held by the Samsung Galaxy S4, which sold 70 million units during the model's first year on the market; which took place from April 2013 to April 2014.

Surprise no one is talking about this. Expandable microSD cards that read/write many times faster than what's available today.

Samsung unveils the first UFS memory card set, world's fastest
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-unveils-the-first-UFS-memory-card-set-worlds-fastest_id82973

It is for sure awesome.... but wonder when it will be implemented for the reader? Guessing not until the price comes down a bit (just projecting it will be quite expensive given the price of internal flash with the same technology). Samsung telling people your $20 external SD card will no longer work, and you need to replace it with a $200 one in their phones won't go over too well.

I could see DSLRs and other digital recording devices picking up on this first though.

Edit: wait sounds like it will be backwards compatible for both SD and UFS.... now that is pretty awesome. Samsung should have these in the Note 7 then.

Because they aren't on the market yet and when they are they will likely cost the same if not more than SSD storage in computers. Price will be a massive barrier and most folks will put up with slower performance than pay the premium. For the same reason traditional HDD's still outsell SDD despite the fall in price of SDD to more affordable territory.

UFS external storage will be expensive and for those just storing music or regular video content, the benefit will be negligible.

UFS storage will be targeted at Prosumer devices such as 4K Pro Video Cameras for videographers or for cameras such as the Hasselblad 50 mp professional where raw images are up to 100mb each. If you are spending $15k on a camera, $200-500 on storage isn't a deal breaker, but for average Joe and his smartphone, it won't make sense until UFS prices drop closer to traditional SD-Card and that could take many many years.

Yep. Still cool tech though. And one day, these prices will drop overtime.

There's less and less reason to knock expandable storage. Even I was skeptical about Samsung forcing me to have to "deal" with expandable storage before I purchased the S7E. Now, I'm a convert, so it's nice to see the technology grow.

Samsung Already Did it: For Better or Worse, Samsung-led Innovation and Trendsetting helped Shape Android

http://www.xda-developers.com/keeping-up-with-the-jones-a-look-into-samsungs-trend-setting-designs/
They have been pushing the envelope so to speak for some time. Changing the smartphone industry and now they are seeing the profits from those innovations.

Samsung's earnings are way up. Best in the last 2 years!

Could someone please explain to me the benefits of UFS other than it being faster? All my music, videos and pictures are stored on a class 10 SD Card and it's almost instant there including previews...and I highly doubt a consumer would see a huge differense here, maybe disk drive is at the point of decreasing returns to scale?

It's not really just for loading your songs it's more for apps and recording you movies onto especially as movie files get bigger

It's so weird for me to be reading news of Samsung's successes and being happy for them. Not all that long ago I was very disgusted with their blatant copying and childish marketing.

But they stepped it up and found their groove and we consumers can certainly benefit from more choices.

I still love Apple, though. My goodwill isn't gone but it's wearing a little thin at the edges. I'm hoping they take up the challenge that Samsung is throwing down and keep up their end of what should be an exciting rivalry.

If Samsung proceeds with the flexible display in a foldable chassis next year or the year after, that's going to be an exciting development. Many people may not care about that but I'm very interested.

You pretty much summed up my feelings too! I love my apple products and have a house full of them. But I also appreciate Samsung and other phone makers for pushing the envelope so to speak.

I can't wait for bendable foldable phones and phablets!
