Android is still way superior

Actually, I like everything Apple except iOS and iPhone (mainly due to small screen and no capacitive button).
The best thing for me today was OS X Mavericks. As always, OS X is awesome, just pure awesome.
My view on what I saw was welcome Apple to 2 years ago.
This was yet another catch up year for Apple as a good chunk of those "new" features are yet again from Android ICS.
The multitasking change is a pretty much exact match to android. Only differens is it goes horizontal compared to vertical.

We'll see about relative battery life under multitasking... In any case, we've only seen a teaser, so it is hard to judge and no doubt MS, BB and Google will respond by the time iOS7 comes out.
I have to agree that I'm usually way more excited by their Mac products. I can't wait to see what they'll update the rMBP's with.
I am not sure what Google is going to have to do to respond. iOS7 seems like yet another catch up OS update for Apple.
They are finally bring their multitasking out of Wanna be status and a little more useful.
I agree. If you don't like iOS then you'll likely never like iOS. Just stick with what you like and be happy.
As predicted in many of my previous posts (regarding iOS and iDevice functionality). So that side of it was a yawn-er. Why does Apple bother with mobile software development?
On the other side OSX and the new Airs are what have me excited to give Apple my money. I am def moving from my Nexus 7 tablet to a 11" MBA now.

Very unimpressed with iOS 7. iOS' UI was one of the main things that attracted me to the iPhone, I love the current iOS UI, but I don't like how iOS 7 looks at all. Literally nothing, icons, even the way folders work, I just don't like.
The only thing I liked was Airdrop which is awesome and Android needs something like this.

aesthetics aren't everything. i use my "phone" as more than just a phone. i was interested to see what ios7 offers but i'm pretty disappointed. in terms of "looks" yes they have changed some aspects but in terms of adding new functions, that hasn't changed much. i was really hoping they would offer some kind of file explorer option and allow users to use the storage as users see fit. that's one major reason why i stick to android. it allows apps and file separation. on IOS, putting files inside app is crazy!!! not only your files are deleted when app is deleted but also the files can't be used by other apps. you could end up with same file in many places. what a mess.

Seriously. At $999 I think that is a great entry price. Way better than the ultrabooks.
I liked everything I saw from apple today regarding iOS. I will admit that most of the improvements were simply playing catch up but I find that features generally work better (smoother) when apple does FINALLY implement them. Perhaps due to androids fragmentation.
However, I will be giving my iPhone 5 a rest until iOS 7 comes out in favor of my htc one.

I left iOS a year ago... How would I justify leaving them when now I can do so much more? Are you serious???

One problem for Apple is trying to include so many features in every release. For example, most stock apps didnt get any new features today: Mail, Calendar, iMessage, Videos, Notes, etc. They should do the same as Google and update those apps separately. That way they could focus more on each new iOS feature wise and iOS users could benefit from new features throughout the year instead of waiting a whole year for big changes.
I like Apple products and switched over from Android a while back. Heck, I have a Galaxy S3 sitting in a drawer collecting dust. With that out the way, iOS 7 was impressive in many ways and kinda blah in other ways. One feature that I do look forward too is the call and text blocking of individuals. I'm still lukewarm on the icons/flat design but I'll get over it. Taking the WEBOS card feature is a nice addition.

I really think this is a great start for iOS. It's changed enough to give it a fresh look and new life while keeping the core components mostly the same. This should appease some people (including me) who think that iOS has become stale while also keeping people that liked iOS before happy still. I really hope we have gotten to a point under Ive where the upgrades really are significant, like this one, and less stagnate like after iOS 4 (in my opinion).
A couple things I would have liked them to change that did not get done in this upgrade:
-Increased ability to format the home page a little more. I had hoped that maybe you could delete some of the default apps (I'm looking at you specifically Newsstand) and then re-download later from the app store
-A little more control over app icons. It would be nice if Apple would allow you to use a nice text for apps or your own pictures
-I don't give this one much hope but the ability to change defaults.
Overall I am very pleased with where Apple is heading. Looking back at my list I see that most of my wishes are more cosmetic over anything else. Either way I won't be giving up Android completely irregardless of where iOS is heading. But it is nice to see Apple regaining some of its thunder in its mobile operating system. Just my opinion of course

Excellent post which is why I am quoting it since some recent posters are hitting on the same themes again, (and again, and again....ad nauseum)
OP: Android is not iOS, and iOS is not Android - If you are expecting if you are waiting for that fact to change, you may be forever disappointed. If not, then why bother starting a thread with this title?
I am happy for you and all who prefer Android that it meets your needs. Does it hurt you in any way that Apple has updated their operating system? Get over it already. Regarding your claim that most of the stock apps didn't get any features.
Aside from shared photo streams, iTunes Radio, swiping to do more actions on mail (not just delete), email, swiping to go through messages, more tabs in Safari, disappearing menu bars in Safari, Siri taking more control of apps on the phone, new camera filters, etc......
Other than the fact that it doesn't fit your narrative why don't those count?
Agreed. With the new Has well chips, extreme light weight of the Air, full OS, amazing battery life (11" is same as the Nex7 at 9 hours now, instead of the measly 5 of last years Air) and "hopefully" an HD quality screen. When it comes to computers, Apple still remains my #1 choice.
I'm a bit dismayed. Some of it's nice, but frankly the new look is pretty awful. I can't get over it, and so much is just blatantly transplanting Android features into iOS. I like the multi-tasking, Safari, lots of it, but I'm overall quite disappointed with the look and functionality.
I think he is simply saying
1. Photo streams now does what Google drive and Dropbox have done in sharing a doc or folder in the cloud
2. iTunes Radio is the same as Spotify, Google Music and the rest.
3. Swiping emails for delete (or archive as GMail can do BTW) is from Sparrow.
4. Disappearing menu bar is another direct response to Chrome's mobile browser.
5. More tabs in Safari? Seriously! Because this "had" to be mentioned shows how out of date mobile Safari really is.
6. New camera filters. Again, direct response to Androids built in photo editing suite.
While these are welcome additions, these features should not be given any praise. These features shouldn't even need a keynote. They should be "expected" by users and automatically pushed by Apple to all users in minor updates. Only reason to tout basic features found in Android phones and tablets via a huge gathering of media, is because you have little else to show the world for a years worth of work. (And I am only referring to the iOS side, not the Mac and OSX side of Apple.)
Seeing what iOS 7 has to offer has just confirmed i made the correct decision when i moved to the Nexus 4 and away from the Apple ecosystem. I know alot of people will love iOS 7 but im a self proclaimed geek and i like to have lots of options and customization which Apple do not believe in. The HTC One could lead alot of Apple fans away from IOS imo.

iOS 7 is a great step in the right direction. I barely use my iPhone, so I really couldn't care less out about what it runs, but for tablets, iOS is superior. I've tried all the various Android tablets out there and they are all mediocre. I'm very excited for the update on my iPad. I think its time to update (whenever the new one comes out)
