You're going to see a mass exodus of iPhone users going to Android soon after the September 12th keynote. Just watch. The iPhone 5 will disappoint so many people.

As a long time iPhone user I have to certainly agree with this statement.

I get that there's not going to be an iPhone 4 type announcement every year, or an iOS 5 type release

BUT

Apple, seems content ignoring the more advanced part of its customer base.

People like me, who have owned all 5 iPhones (and can we please STOP calling it iPhone 5!?) just aren't excited by what we see coming with the SIXTH iPhone.

I see Apple trying one of its reality distortion field moves... They're going to try and convince us that nothing significant needs to be added to iPhone/iOS and that this is ACCEPTABLE.

They'll say don't be fooled by the smoke and mirrors (widgets, customization, openness, etc) of Android. We haven't updated the essential/core iOS since the first iPhone but hey, we have tons of cool apps!!!

They'll say you can't have the same eco-system of products if you don't have an iPhone/iPad.

They'll say that Android is porn/malware/problematic as opposed to the buttery smoothness of iOS

You get the point...

The factor of the matter is, I don't care any longer about the shortcomings of Android; I only know that I'm BORED out of my mind with iOS and the iPhone.

It has come high tide, that the excellence of past performances are NOT enough to assure future loyalty to the iPhone.

Laymen; INNOVATE APPLE, tweaks aren't enough, SHOW US, that you're listening to your customer base and not just hell bent on TELLING us what we need.

Currently using the SSGS3. Yeah, I don't drink much, don't smoke or use recreational drugs but I feed off of mobile tech rumors and new tech gadgets worse than a crack ho.

In this case though two good things came of my switch. My mom now has her first smart phone (my old iP4) which she is very excited about and enjoying, which in turn makes me happy. Secondly I got to get a completely new experience with Android!

I see more of this scenario happening at an accelerated pace.

Especially so now that we know Apple actually pays very close attention to consumers.

That's why I'd argue that the side that needs changing first is the side of the fans. People need to start talking honestly about Apple's shortcomings before they'll be motivated to change. There just isn't an honest enough conversation happening yet.

Melodramatic hyperbole I should have stopped reading when you mentioned that the essential/core iOS hasn't is the same as the first iPhone. Just because you've owned 4 iPhones doesn't mean you have anything more than superficial knowledge of the platform.

They do pay close attention to their customers. Apple's customer is your mother or sister or cousin that doesn't want to fight with their phone. They want an easy to use system and they don't care if it's open source or pixie dust source they just want it to work.

If Apple wasn't listening to consumers they wouldn't still be the dominant vendor for smartphones and tablets. Don't confuse the needs of a Geek with that of the general populace.

I use an iPhone 4 ... for the most part it is used for email and phone calls.

I do not see Android as the future ... just another player trying to keep up with Apple

After yesterday's verdict with Apple cutting the head off Google's Android snake (Samsung), I don't agree with our statement AT ALL. Quite the contrary, in fact.

To tell you the truth, I beginning to believe Android is the future. If, if Apple doesn't pull there hand out of their butt. What do guys think? Agree or disagree? Do you think you will jump ship if the iPhone 5 isn't 'good' enough for you?
