How funny is this chipgate stuff? iPhone users don't know how good they have it when it comes to battery life. You're complaining about an "inferior chip" that "only" gets 11 hours of screen on time in my 6s plus, I could only imagine you guys using a nexus 5 for example and enjoying the 2 hours sot.

I came to this forum to talk about iPhone and read up on it, but honestly almost every thread here is complaining about minuscule things that aren't even really problems. You should set a better example as a community, because God forbid if anyone was to come here to read up on some personal experiences prior to potentially switching to iPhone, they would probably turn and run the other way after seeing all these threads.

Sorry to rant, but chipgate seems more like a high school esque popularity contest on here more than a real issue at this point.

Word I guess it comes along with the excitement of a new release. My point besides to jokingly poke at how good iPhone users have it in terms of the phones battery was that honestly all the threads on here lately seem to hold the phones in a negative light. It seems like half the users here don't even like the phone. There's not really many discussions that highlight the phones positives for potential new members to see.

as it so happens I came from a Nexus 5, it had a hour and thirty minutes screen on time fresh with no apps, with my basic apps I got 50 minutes of screen on time, that was it, if I didn't like the song that might be playing I had to decide if I was going to waste that time, I was rationing those minutes out every single day , it was quite the change when I got my 6S plus, now I can't drain the thing!

even on a premium android phone such as the Galaxy S6 which is one of the most expensive, a phone which as it so happens does really well in that geekbench battery test that everyone has been throwing round lately, 3 or 4 hours seems to be the normal screen on time in real life, maybe 5 if you really stretch. there are android phones with better battery life like the moto x play but in real world usage most don't come near the 6/6S Plus or even the normal 6/6S, I'm not sure but 9 hours seems to be pretty common on the 6 and 6S?, thats around twice as much as the galaxy S6..

Haha yea nexus 5 was an awesome phone though for those 90 minutes it while it was charged.

But yea most android flagships besides the note series have a hard time seeing over 4 hours sot. The Galaxy s6 and edge are really bad in that regard, not nexus 5 bad, but yea.

It's funny that the chip that nobody wants because of poor battery life gets better battery life than any phone I've owned. Just android things

that it does, hopefully it lives up to that. that was originally what I was planning to get, then I kinda went crazy and jumped back into the Apple ecosystem over night, grabbed my old MBP, ordered a new iPhone and Apple Watch. realised I wasn't going to be satisfied otherwise after a couple of years going through android phones, lumia's, other bands and smartwatches. I ended right back when I started, anyway, not to go off topic, posted my experiences above

Sweet that's me. I'm not jealous of the iPhone battery since my droid gets great battery life. If it does go dead, I can swap in my back up battery.

I think the 6p will do well. It nailed pretty much everything, the front facing speakers were a nice surprise too.

I want to grab an android phone to mess with on the side, but the 6s plus is going to be my daily driver for a while.

There aren't any iPhones getting 11 hours of screen on time. Usage time maybe. But that's totally different from screen on time on android. iPhone counts anytime it does anything as usage. If the screen is on or not. Listening to music, syncing apps or email in the background etc. You can leave the screen off in an iPhone all day long and have hours of usage. No way to compare the two.

I'm actually coming from a M9, Note 4, S6, and S6 Edge Plus. I mean, I guess this chip stuff is kinda whack. But I understand and am also worried that I'll get a Samsung chip.

That number is never accurate for the iPhone. You can use the music app with the screen off and it shows in the total usage time.

I hardy use my iPad anymore and yet the total usage time is sometimes two days over a month of standby time.

Android isn't efficient like Windoze since the chip that they use are power hungy and android's API itself isn't as tightly integrated to hardware as iOS. A9 is just a dual core ARM which means it uses less than half of watts as the Qualcomm or Exynos chip at full load. A9 still beats those chips in browsing and CPU performance since iOS apps and iOS (despite becoming more and more like android in complexity) are still much more efficient in getting the best out of the CPU. Samsung A9 is more dense than the TSMC which means less surface area to dissipate heat and as such it's prone to efficiency losses since higher temps results to less efficiency in electricity terms. Run both TSMC and Samsung A9 in a freezer environment and you'll see Samsung slightly beating the TSMC due to the denser transistor manufacturing process. Once hot however, TSMC will throttle slightly less than Samsung while dissipating heat more (more surface area) which results to more battery life.

The iPhone doesn't tell you screen-on time. But no phone gets 11h. The Droid Turbo or the Moto X Play gets about 8h. I would guess around 5h for the Plus and 4h for the normal.

My ZTE Max can get 8 hours, it is the best I have ever personally had on a phone
