One tap in the car allows me to turn on Bluetooth, turn on GPS, turn off WiFi, connect to my Bluetooth stereo system, launches my music player, turn on auto rotate and adjust my brightness settings. Another tap reverses all those settings. I use NFC everyday.

Ya, I've seen this function - NFC tags seem neat....

But why would I tap anything when I simply leave all that on all day because it doesn't compromise battery life. When I get in the car, my iPhone just connects. When I get home, my iPhone just connects. When I'm using maps, my iPhone just connects.

No tapping required.

Maybe because I'm neurotic and don't like things on when I'm not using them. Maybe you don't see a need for NFC, but plenty of people do. And I find it much easier to pay for things with Google wallet than using my credit card. Tap and punch a 4 digit code vs. Finding the credit card, swiping, tap credit, sign slip.

Hey, I'm just asking questions....I'm aware people see a need for it. Just trying to understand why, that's all.

More power to ya!

I'm not getting the 5S since I have a 5 already, but I'll be keeping an eye on whatever Apple releases next year. I'm trusting that it'll be a large improvement. Getting the Nexus 5 whenever it releases! I'm excited for it. I like the advantages that both iOS and Android bring to me. So no, I'm not converting from Android. :D

I got a chance to use an actual 5S today, and I really don't know how anyone can go back to such a small screen. It's just so... (I don't know any better words)... pathetic and meek feeling.

And for those who have never tried larger screens... sure, of course there are those that genuinely like the smaller screen... but I'd also wager there are tons more who just don't know better and really believe the FUD about impossibilities to use one handed or impossibilities to fit in one's pocket who are really missing out because of Apple's slow game. I'd wager, there are tons -- whom have never used a larger screen -- who would not only adjust quickly, but love it if they ever gave it a chance.

They'll understand in 2014. Maybe.

I actually have an iPhone 5 and a GS4 and have recently started using the iPhone again to try out ios7 and after the initial adjustment I don't really notice the difference in day to day use. I do find myself using the iPhone in landscape more and there are certain instances when I would like a larger screen, but all in all it doesn't make as much difference as one would think. It does seem super tiny after using the GS4 though, that I agree with, but the shock wears off quickly.

Went from a Samsung Epic 4G Touch (Sprint GS2) which was 4.5" to an iPhone 4S real easy.

I Will go from a GS4 to an iPhone 5S most likely. If your smartphone experience is defined by one thing, changes like this will be hard. However my smartphone experience is not defined by screen size alone.

The iPhone 5 & 5s screen is dated. Not only interms of size but also in terms of pixels and resolition.

Agree, to an extent. I switch back and forth between my iPhone 5 and GS4 several times a day and all around the benefits of a larger screen don't manifest as often as one would think on all content in actual use.

Reading ebooks and YouTube are better on the GS4, but most of the other apps I use regularly are more or less the same on a 4" screen and a 5" screen.

If Apple releases a larger iPhone (say the 4.5 that you're used to), but still offer a current-gen 4" screen, which would you go for?

Not asking rhetorically. Genuinely curious. Like I said in my post, I'm sure there are people who genuinely prefer a smaller screen.

Absolutely I would change to the larger iPhone. I want apple to go up to 4.5".

I would most definitely go for the larger screen. I am not saying that I do not prefer a larger screen it just is not going to be the deciding factor for me. I can't comment on the HTC One display, but I definitely find the iPhone display to be more vibrant than the GS4 and the one I prefer using. After previously owning an HTC One X I am sure the One screen would be sensational to use.
I am genuinely torn between the two handsets though and whilst I have a prepaid sim for the other I cannot warrant carrying two handsets around with me. There are definitely things that each OS does better than the other, but I think I am finding that the iPhone integrates into my life better. This might not be so much the fault of the Android operating system so much as the third party integration offered by other products such as my Alpine head unit.

No doubt I will switch back again soon and be saying the opposite though.

Agreed. It isn't and shouldn't be the only deciding factor.

I believe, though, that adjusting to a larger screen is easier than adjusting to a smaller screen. There are people who can't even go back from the 4" iPhone 5 era to the 3.5" iPhone 4 era. And rightly so. I have no doubt that next year we'll hear how people can't imagine going back to a 4" phone when the iPhone 6 offers a larger screen.

I do agree, but I think that after using the larger screen you get a sense of "wow the iPhone is so small I could never use this again" the moment you pick it up, but after using it for a while you just readjust. I do agree that people will say they cannot ever go back without honestly trying to though.
That said, if iPhone users have the option of a larger screen why would they want to even try to go back?
