They won't tie it to the Apple ID, since that's too easy to bypass by changing countries.

Apple won’t implement it until nearer the EU deadline next year. So don’t expect to hear anything about it until January/February at best.

I’ll give a status update iOS 17.0 (21A5303d) dev. Beta, for as far as I know there’s no interoperable messaging or options to change browser engines… If I remember correctly the absolute deadline for Apple is in March of next year, does anyone know something concrete about Apple’s plans for this?

There won’t be anything until nearer March next year.

Apple won’t say anything about it until they absolutely have to, and MacRumors will post on front page as soon as anything is said about it.
