Wondering if any of you who took the plunge and upgraded already. Do you have any regrets or is there any major app that will not run? I am just curious. I have held off from installing to see how many of you have problems.

Any Regrets for upgrading to El Capitan?

A couple of trivial hiccups for me but no regrets. And if you're looking for people with problems installing or after installing you're going to find several on here. It happens with every major release and with every update to a major release. It's inevitable. 
Crashed this morning while browsing in Safari on my retina MacBook and I could no longer log in without it rebooting or shutting down. Spent the day so far trying to reinstall clean from USB disk, Time Machine, now trying to go back to clean Yosemite. Nothing is working so far so I may have a hardware issue, but the thing was 100% on Yosemite.
I had to install again Aperture, a PITA since is 1 Gb, but no regrets at all.
Coming from Maverick I'm very happy
Also are any of you using the software Total Finder? Is it working on your Mac with 10.11?
Yes. I installed yesterday morning. Started mail and all accounts and previous messages from back to 2005 were gone. After an hour on the phone to apple, I suggested restoring from the previous days time machine and he agreed. On closer inspection all iMessages were gone, as were all my contacts. Back to Yosemite for the foreseeable future.
Yes. I installed it and found out that my Native Instruments plugins within Logic, some plug ins within Adobe Audition and also Sibelius didn't work properly. Immediately did a restore from back up to go back to Yosemite.

None for me, in fact I can't really see any difference between this and Yosemite
So far so good. It yielded a very noticeable performance improvement on my MacBook Pro, Mid 2012. I think they succeeded in doing what they claim to have set out to do: create a more refined version of Yosemite.
It reminds me of how Snow Leopard was a much-refined version of Leopard. And Mountain Lion was a refined version of Lion. And Mac OS 8.6 was a refined version of Mac OS 8.0/8.1. Pretty much all my favorite versions of the Mac system throughout time are ML, SL, 8.6, so yeah. Very promising so far.
I might even put it on my Mac Pro, which is scary because I have 10.8.5 working perfectly with everything I need it to work with, and all my software works. I don't have time to go through all my production apps nor the money to pay for 50 third-party software upgrades just so I can work. It would suck to lose iCloud syncing there though. Maybe I'll try it and restore from a backup if it hoses me.

Yeah I think it's safe to say that anyone who's a professional musician has learned to be very wary of any "upgrades". Especially if you use Pro Tools, because Avid/Digi would typically take about 8-16 months to certify that they would support their hardware on the latest OS X version
And sometimes they would simply just not support it.That's why I may NEVER upgrade my 2009 Mac Pro beyond the current stuff I have on it. It's like an AK-47... a timeless design that does a particular job perfectly and needs no changes or modifications whatsoever. Yes it has a few minor flaws, or perhaps you might say, "character," but it does what it does extremely damn well.
Hi, iubhounds. I'm contemplating the possibility of eventually installing El Capitan on an elderly acquaintance's 2010 iMac -- actually on one of his external hard drives --, but I first need to know if the boot screen on your 2010 iMac is still the traditional gray with El Capitan, or if it is now the new black. Based on all the info I've been able to find (which isn't much), only 2011 and/or 2012 and newer Macs get the black boot screen; however, I need to know for sure before I install it on his computer. [EDITED.] Thank you very much.

It looks like the System Integrity Protection is making Total Finder a no go. The developer has no plans to support El Capitan. That is my only regret, having upgraded. I was so used to using TF. Finder without it is terrible.
Yes. Immediately after upgrading my 2 new Macs I couldn't send email with my university email account--messages stayed in Outbox with recurring 'could not be sent' messages. I returned to Yosemite using Time Machine and the problem is fixed. I'll wait for a month or so and try El Capitan again.
I haven't had any problems. I thought spotlight would pickup geotags on photos from the photos app, but it doesn't. I like the new mission control and notes app as well.
As a first DP tester, I don't even bother reinstalling system. Maybe, after 10.11.1, I will do a clean install.
So far so good. Mail works just like that. No critical apps are down, with or without disabling SIP.
