Yes
I have a small pile of UNIX executables I kept in usr/bin.
Now I have to move them all to /usr/local/bin.
Bit of a pain, as some of them care where they are.

My mid 2010 iMac ran fine under Yosemite. Is slow as hell with El Capistan. Constant spinning rainbows.

Edit: My bad. It's fine today. I think it was running a Time Machine backup right after the update.

Gone back to Yosemite. Import of mail destroyed all mail. Will not import "On my Mac" Mailboxes. Same as the betas which were never fixed. 4.0 Ghz I7 Retna iMac slowed to the speed of an 8088. Photos App has no way to delete photos from iPhone on import. 2nd run of Photos the program has locked and remained so. Safari is very very very slow opening pages. All of these items were noted on the Beta and not fixed. This release is definitely not ready for prime time.

Really enjoying it.
had some major hiccups in the early Beta phase which forced me to go back to Yosemite and wait until the Golden Master, but since then it's been as smooth as silk with no problems whatsoever (touching wood!).

I have issues with dual screens I hadn't before. Dialog windows frequently are BEHIND their parent windows. Some can be closed with Esc, often a force quit is needed.

I lost some months in my IMAP mailbox as Apple Mail put lots of the folders inside the trash bin which is automatically cleared when closing Mail. Backups didn't work on my Mailserver as they should, so i have to work in this as well.

Regrets?
I regret accidentally installing the GM candidate on my Mac's main drive, rather than the intended external drive, practically forcing me to officially upgrade as soon as the release version came out.

As for issues, I've had very few.
My WINE bundles stopped working, but I moved the applications into a Windows virtual machine, so it's no big loss.
Several duplicate keychain entries are appearing for iMessages, despite me never opening the application.

The one thing that makes me regret the os is customization, Totalfinder and Xtrafinder may not be supported anymore.

Here
No, I'm generally happy with it. This is what I said in another thread:

I love El Capitan. It's not perfect; I can definitely tell it's a .0 release:
  • Finder crashed and had to be force quit when moving files from my VM
  • When you try to close a background iTunes window, it jumps to the front of the screen and changes the active app as if it was on Windows (iTunes only)
  • iTunes froze 3 times when trying to play a movie while it was downloading.
  • Some slight but unusual stutter from time to time.
  • Hasn't fixed the bug where some PDFs open fuzzy until you resize them
  • Some Safari scrolling bugs.

HOWEVER, the overall improvement with system performance is nice, the new system font is much more pleasant than Helvetica Neuve and it fixes the worst bug that made me want to punch my screen:

I have a Dell ultrasharp 2415H that I use when in clamshell mode. Under Yosemite, my monitor would randomly blank out and come back on for unknown reasons. I would have to unplug it, switch display ports, etc to make it work and when I turned the monitor off, the system recognized it as a disconnect and moved all of my windows over to another monitor. I thought it was the display so I almost threw it out because it was so bad. Ever since updating to EC on Wednesday, I have had one blink or flash. No disconnection, nothing. I'm using the same setup, the same cables, and the same ports. Maybe it's dumb luck, or maybe EC fixed some kind of graphic driver? I wasn't expecting a monitor fix, but this has been a great surprise. This bug fix alone is enough to make me endure any little bugs present in the .0 release.

EDIT: the UI tweaks are welcome as well! I'm partially color-blind, and Yosemite's harsh all flat with white buttons on light gray gradients didn't work well for me. Maybe it's just me, but grays seem slightly darker, buttons now have a slight bulge to them, and there appears to be a greater use of drop shadows.

Hi, iubhounds. I'm contemplating the possibility of eventually installing El Capitan on an elderly acquaintance's 2010 iMac -- actually on one of his external hard drives --, but I first need to know if the boot screen on your 2010 iMac is still the traditional gray with El Capitan, or if it is now the new black. Based on all the info I've been able to find (which isn't much), only 2011 and/or 2012 and newer Macs get the black boot screen; however, I need to know for sure before I install it on his computer. [EDITED.] Thank you very much.

Mine booted up this morning in the traditional gray.

The one and only issue I have is that Cubase won't make a sound. I haven't used it for a while – going through PBs of El Cap – and first it would crash and wouldn't start, I updated it and there was no sound. I spent some hours trying to work it out, then finally had a bright idea to google the issue and, yup, El Cap wrecks a lot of music software.

It's a bit too late for me to downgrade back to Yosemite. So, yeah, my own fault. Should have checked ALL the programs before putting El Cap on the main drive.

I wish I havent done this update. Nothing is working. I can't even get to login screen. Restart loop or freeze on startup progress bar... For me this release of OSX 10.11 is early alpha. Moving back to 10.10.

^^^^There's clearly something wrong, and I seriously doubt it's released to the new OS.

Run the public beta to help find and report bugs, and to see if my old iMac would get a performance boost.
No regrets! Glad I did.

I'm having trouble with COMPLETE 9 ultimate plugins...but they are working on making it compatible. I'm sure there would an update soon.

Yes I regret..
Battery life is now shorter.also it's not faster than Yosemite at all, maybe even a bit laggy? Overall I'm not impressed at all.will probably re-install Yosemite if the battery life issue is real..or even go back to Mavericks.never liked the design and performance of Yosemite.

PS: clean install on less than year old Retina Macbook Pro.

Wondering if any of you who took the plunge and upgraded already. Do you have any regrets or is there any major app that will not run? I am just curious. I have held off from installing to see how many of you have problems.

BIGTIME REGRET! CS6 crashes, Disk utility freezes (no more basic repair permissions). When have time, downgrading.

It looks like the System Integrity Protection is making Total Finder a no go. The developer has no plans to support El Capitan. That is my only regret, having upgraded. I was so used to using TF. Finder without it is terrible.

disable system integrity protection then? you don't need to jump on the apple-bigbrother-walled-garden (yet) you know.

Surprisingly, my battery life is longer, I didn't tested it in real time but I noticed it in the calculated estimate. The estimate on MBPr 13" 2015 with 65% battery and brightness at 7 blocks was like 9-10 hours.

However my mac app store doesn't download and install apps anymore..... YUCK!

The overal lag seems less, but mission control is lagging like crazy for me.

CS6 is working fine for me!
The new Disk Utility does not freeze for me!
If you need to repair permissions, you can with TechTool Pro V8.0.3
