New Town

I made my new town with a location in NYC, and now I can buy some good businesses with coins, which I couldnt with my first town here in Europe....but I really need some bucks now to build faster, and to franchise from others....so if someone would be so inclined to franchise me, I will send people gifts out:)

Thanks candy land!

Thanks to candy land for franchising me! :)

Still working on banking money to buy land and trade out low popularity biz for better ones....

So, today.... I set my biz for half hour and went out to run errands. I couldn't find what I was after and had to go to another store. And I actually contemplated going home, collecting rents and resetting my biz and doubling back to run the extra errand. The store was in the same shopping center I was already in. That's indicative of mt2 addiction.... Is it not? Lol

How stacking Wonders work:

Spaceport increases population by 20%.
If you have 100,000 pop, and own 1 SP, your population should be 120,000
If you own 2 SP, then your population should be 144,000
If you own 3 SP, then your population should be 172,800
If you own 3 SP, then your population should be 207,360
and so on.
Some people quickly boost their population by buying the Statue of Liberty because each one gives 50,000 population.

--------------------------------
Stock Exchanges increases revenue of Offices by 20% and works the same as SPs and adds up using the same calculation process.

As you can see, whether pop or rev, the numbers do add up really fast.

However, it is important to continually level your Office businesses upward. Each level increases the revenue and in combination with SEs, the more coins you'll receive.

You can compare the different revenue very easily--check one of your Offices. After you collect your coins, click the sleepy blue face, write down the 4 levels of revenue. Don't click any of the job times. Instead, click the paintbrush to remodel that business to what it really is. Go back and click the sleepy face. Since you already own 9 SEs, you should see a significant difference. Of course you can remodel the business back to Office.

-------------------------------
It's a tough choice: build up population or build up coins. You need population to buy businesses. You need coins to buy land.
There are towns that have focused on one kind of businesses. Other towns that kept a variety of businesses. There is no wrong or right way. If you're playing without *ahem* shortcuts, it will take time and patience.
The Wonders are all good and help in their own way, but if you focus on one or two strategies (e.g. population, and/or revenue, then the SP and SE are the ones to get first. And since SEs only cost 30K in coins, they are easily affordable.
As a comparison, the Eiffel Tower is nice for restaurants, cafes and clothing, but if you don't have those kinds of businesses in your town, then the ET is no use. Select the Wonder(s) that will help your particular businesses.

I wrote earlier that I'm not sure franchising is the way to go. It's only observation, but my lower popularity business has better revenue than my franchised business that has high popularity. I've focused on buying my businesses outright and level them up and generating lots of coins with SEs. I'm a long way from a billion coins, but I'm working on a big bank and hopefully will have enough to buy the next plots of land when they become available.

---------------------------------
That is quite drastic to sell everything off and start over. The problem is that high popularity businesses aren't everywhere and some players don't have anything really good near them. They are at a disadvantage to those who live locally in New York City, Washington DC, Paris France, Berlin Germany, Rome Italy, and other cities with super-duper high popularity businesses. This is a weakness of the game. As it turned out, one of the "cheats" discovered is to change one's location, but that can only be done once. I'm not sure of all the details, but constantly changing to a different location, other than your original and second one, can cause a player's game to crash and possibly be lost for good. Hopefully Booyah will sort that problem out so everyone can have a chance to get good businesses without having to pay a truckload of Bucks.

------------------------------
By the way Ref your post #1034, I think I found it; the town name is Booyahtopia. It does not have an id#. I found it via Social > Explore > San Francisco, California
Booyah is located in SF.

I hope this helps. 29434232 Monstropolis

it will lower, i tried it. but the game is changing constantly so maybe u should try it with a flower patch or sth, see if it'll lower or not.

Are you saying it will lower to the next level back down, or just the population? Like if I go 10 under 237, do I have to go all the way back up to 267, or do I have to go to 237 again, to build a business?

----------

So cool about the update this month!!! Can't wait. I am so addicted, too. I'm going to lose all of my real income, if I keep playing this game  Too bad I can't crawl in and live in my mansion. lmao.

Candyland. Thank you!! I will give you more peeps every day :)

I am so close to getting the apple store, and really want the Big Ben. Can one of you tycoons give me a helping hand with coin or buck franchises? I promise to reciprocate always, and any way I can :D

I got Saks Fifth Avenue today cuz I was located in NY, and was tap happy. Should have waited and relocated to SFO.

:(

it will lower your population. but i don't know what would happen to your businesses because i didn't try this at that much of a critical point :)

i think u'll have to go up to 267k otherwise the population level would be meaningless. but that's just my opinion.

I think you're right.... I wonder if I ever get to a point where it's NOT critical, so I can get rid of subways and such. Hahaha. Getting greedy, I guess.

Population levels

If you sell off stuff, your population will decrease. Your existing businesses will not be affected. However, if you sell a business, you will lose that slot and will have to increase your population again to hit the next threshold.

In other words, your population is "live". Whatever level shows on your game is the level you are at.

I hope this makes sense.

BTW - the most businesses you can have right now is 36. They set the next population threshold after that to 5,000,000,000.

Selling Off Items

If you sell off anything that has population associated with it, that population number will be deducted. e.g., the observatory gives 4,000 population. If it is sold, 4,000 will be deducted from your population count.

If you are at 267,000 population, and sell off a business, you don't lose that status. A business does not have population associated with it, so you won't drop below 267,000 population. After you sell a business, and then check your Menu>Stats you will see a half built building labeled "vacancy"; you will be able to immediately buy or franchise another business to fill that vacancy.

But the replacement business will 1) need to be built which typically takes 24 hours and 2) when it does open, it will be at level 1 and you will have to complete jobs to level it up.

Keep in mind, it is not necessarily a simple deduction of the population or the revenue amount because they are affected by any Wonders you own. e.g. The observatory gives 4K-if you own one SpacePort (+20% pop), the deduct will actually be 4,800 and if you own many SPs, the deduction is greater.

I've done a bunch of buying and selling and as far as I can tell, this seems to be true.;)

Snoopy1967 / Franchising Cost Bucks vs. Coins

Snoopy1967: That has been my problem too! And I haven't figured out why that happens. Like you said, Bucks are hard to come by, so I'm also holding on to whatever I can. I want to reciprocate the many kind people who've franchised my town, but the best that I can do is gift them with population. If the gift limit is raised from 5 to 10, that would be wonderful. Just think how much more that would contribute to building community among the MT2 players!

9 plots of land........!!!!!!!!
4- So, r u saying if we also have Space ?dock "wonders" that takes the place of having to spend money all the time on getting our population up before we have to be able to build some more comm bldgs/decorations/or housing?
5-in other words, with the S, D wonder installed, we can buy decorations/ commun bldgs/ housing at our own leisure pleasure?

Thanks......I am in a much better mood, now. Thanks to you and everyone for the support. I had a time of self doubt.....wonder in Booyah could make a town in outer space or under water to give us somewhere to go.... Thanks for this reply. it's pretty clear. i don't want to sell any businesses, but I'd like to sell subway stops (-8K population), so that would take me from like 238, to 230K. The last threshold (for a new business) was at 237. Will that still be the new threshold, or will the threshold stay at the previously higer one - 267K? Does my question make sense? I really want to know if the threshold gets lowered as you sell non business stuff below the last one.

---> Yes! I see the little men chopping down trees on your new land. You're going to have so much fun being able to spread out.

4- So, r u saying if we also have Space ?dock "wonders" that takes the place of having to spend money all the time on getting our population up before we have to be able to build some more comm bldgs/decorations/or housing?
---> The SpacePorts really do "grow" your population by leaps and bounds. So much faster and easier than buying all the little Housing, Decorations, and Community items, one by one. But SPs cost 80 Bucks, so it is a choice--buying an SP or buying items. I did both. I tried to chose items that cost coins but gave the most population. That's why I ended up with so many grey Condos.

5-in other words, with the S, D wonder installed, we can buy decorations/ commun bldgs/ housing at our own leisure pleasure?
---> Yep. That's one way of looking at it.

---> You already have a lot of businesses at level 10 and the lowest seems to be 7. You've been tapping like crazy! You also have some amazingly good businesses. You've done really well! I'm not understanding when you say it takes Bucks to level up. Are you referring to Level 50 (upper left hand corner of the main screen? Fifty is the highest anyone can go right now. That's what a bunch of people are complaining about--there are no more levels. When you tap the upper left corner, you'll see the popup message box "More Levels Coming Soon!". This has been like that since at least early December. Before, to level up, collecting blue stars, not Bucks, were needed to level up. Now that you're at 50, any blue stars you get will not be added to your total. If you take a look at the number, it will not change anymore.
In the mean time, just keep accumulating coins. And when the next update comes, hopefully we'll be ready.

Real life takes precedence; don't worry, your town will continue to grow. It just takes time. The important thing is to have fun. Right?

GraceGirl - Hello

GraceGirl: While the game is a lot of fun, it's still make believe. At least on this forum, the people are real. I hope so anyway! LOL!
You have a good evening/night, too.

Why don't you take it with you like I do. You not need Internet to collect jobs. You just need it to visit other towns, do check ins and buy stuff. I collect rent at red lights

I know soon there will be mt2a meetings lol

Thanks cAndy Land!

Props to you cAndy Land for franchising a couple of my businesses today. The bucks are much appreciated! I will be sending population back to you. Thanks again to those of you out there franchising!

Added new thread to discuss My Town 2 problems...

Hey everyone! Just a quick shout-out before bed to all the wonderful peeps on this forum. A couple of things...

1) I wrote a very detailed and thoughtful post in a new thread on the forum called "Complaints & Gripes About My Town 2" that some of you may find interesting. It is a bit long but it's chock full of information and I'd like to see some of you guys add to it! Don't be shy, read it, digest it, talk about it!

2) Anybody here who gifts me population will be gifted in return, I promise. Barracuda Bay, ID # 33760646. Only population guys! You will get population and/or bucks from me in return!

3) My girlfriend started playing recently. Her town is Dani's Town, ID # 33766710. For the sake of friendliness, if you can spare it, send her a gift. She tried posting here recently and was totally ignored. Thanks in advance.
