Other Anyone buying iPhone now before the event?

I was planning on buying a 16 Plus soon for my wife. Last I checked, T-Mobile didn't have stock for the 16 Plus anymore but Apple obviously still does. However, I wasn't sure if Apple immediately removes the 2yr old phones for sale from their site as soon as the new phones are announced - I never tried buying a (new) 2yr old device.

The primary reason I want the 16 Plus is because my wife is on a 13PM that has seen its better days. Really can't justify the new PM costs since she doesn't use any "Pro" features, she simply just likes the larger screen.

I’m still on a 13 PM. Depending on any deals they may have on existing 17’s, or the new 18’s I may jump. But if they’re too much I’ll just replace the battery and use it until it’s no longer supported or dies, whichever comes first.

We (wife and I) have been eligible for an upgrade from our 13 Pros so we went ahead and got the 17 Pros.

1. Huge upgrade, 4 years of progress
2. Proven model that's been out almost a year
3. No price hike

As someone who used to wait in line at the Apple Store for like the iPhone 4 and 5, this is antithetical to my lizard brain to not upgrade to the absolute latest. However, having had the 17 Pro for a few days, I'm not super wowed by it. I guess I'm not a power user, but other than the camera, the 13 Pro was holding it's own and still at 80% battery so I'm not noticing in day to day use that much difference, maybe a bit snappier. The digital island is kind of neat.

I know Apple will work hard to sell the 18 Pro's benefits next week but I feel like I won't have too many regrets. If the price hike is only $100, maybe we should have waited but if it's more than that I don't think the upgrades will be worth it. Of course I guess there's an extra year of support baked into it, but still....
