yup totally doing this. its been my plan since day 1. even if I take a hit financially ill view it as "renting" an iPad for a month at whatever the rate I lost was. Technology has a way of sucking me in like that I guess.

Anyone else buying a WiFi model temporarily until the 3G is out?

Meanwhile, the iPad's 3G deal is pretty competitive, if you have the lifestyle that fits. It's a shame that "feeding the internet" to an iPod Touch, for example from your iPad is inconvenient or defeats the purpose of having the Touch.
Yep, I think it's better to have a 3G service from the iPhone and tether from it, or just to use wifi.
Haha..same here. Even the restocking fee, $49, isn't that huge when you consider what you are getting here...3-4 weeks of entertainment, how much would that cost if you were going out somewhere?
15% of $500 is a $75 restocking fee.

Yup, 32gig Wifi on Saturday, then 64gig 3G in late April. I told myself I wouldn't buy the wifi, then the pre-order went live and well...OK, I knew I couldn't wait 4 more weeks while everyone else was having fun.
The wifi will be used more at home and by my wife, and the 3G will go with me everywhere. Having 3G is a major plus for me.
I just can't wait until Saturday. I've been downloading iPad apps all afternoon (just seemed like the right thing to do) while listening to my new album "Man Up" by The Blue Van. Apple picked a great song for the first iPad commercial.
The wifi will be used more at home and by my wife, and the 3G will go with me everywhere. Having 3G is a major plus for me.

It's 14 days at Apple and Best Buy! I don't know why people are thinking it's 30. I say if you still think it's 30 and your trying to "upgrade" without some kind of penalty, go ahead. It will be a $500+ lesson learned.
LOL. I'm sure Apple, Best Buy and the other resellers that will have the iPad at launch have figured out this "return-for-restocking-fee scam". I'll bet it doesn't fly. At the very least, the iPad 3G won't be introduced until after the return periods are up. They'd be crazy to do otherwise.
Ugh....The whole theory of buying things and returning them for a better model, or in some cases ive heard of people deliberately breaking items just to get a new replacement appalls me.
In the long run, we all lose when this happens, especially when were dumb enough to brag about it on the friggin internet!

I'm buying the 32GB WiFi version in-store on Saturday. I really had to think about it, but I decided on WiFi because I'm not sure I'll really need it that much on the go. And if so, I may get the Sprint Overdrive. Depending on how it shakes out, I may opt out of the next iPhone to try something new, but we'll just have to see what happens. Ultimately, I spend so little time away from WiFi that I don't know that I'll miss the 3G.

Yea...people on eBay are nuts and I always see things selling for crazy prices. My wife's iPhone screen is cracked and I've seen people selling iPhone's with cracked screens on eBay for $150+. People are nuts.

Hmmmmm even thought the 3G sounds great I went with the WIFI with intent to tether to my jailbroken IPHONE....I refuse to pay those fees....I bought the 64 gig WIFI and should work just fine....They only time would use 3G is in my car or if took to a eating est for some reason. Then would take only seconds to connect and get same speeds from my phone since on the same network.
No question about it! I've given this a lot of thought and its very unlikely I'll be hauling my iPad everywhere I go. Its definitely a "Wifi deal" for me and I have an iPhone to look something up out in the world and not look like a dork on my iPad. Hoping someone can figure out how to make Netshare work and then its a very cool proposition to tether.
