I feel like i am in a big minority but i am not real hip on paying for internet three times. I have highspeed at home with a wireless network. i have my iphone..... i am not sure i need this as well. Well i will be getting a wifi one but is it really worth it for the 3g?

The crazy thing with me is that I will be away in Italy until the 27th of the month. I got the 64 3G. I really hope it won't be delivered on the 24th... I really wanted it for my trip so I too am thinking about getting one and taking it on the trip and maybe selling the thing while I'm over there...hehe

I'm really tempted to do this now.

I know what I really want is the 3g version, but I don't want to have to sit back and wait while everyone else here plays with their iPad apps for the next month. I'm thinking that I'll get an iPad 16gb Wifi ($499) from Apple on Saturday, return it after 2 weeks (for the $50 restocking fee), then wait iPad-less for the 1-2 weeks until I can get the 3g version.

I'm going to sit back, drink lots of beer and read all your reviews about the wifi-only version for a few weeks before I make any decision to purchase the 3G. Definitely won't be getting the wifi-only version.

I think that 3G model is the worst and most overpriced idea they could have come out with. Im going to wait until they come out with a model that's $200 with a camera, and compelling reasons to buy. In the mean time did you guys know NIntendo made something like an iPad too? Except, they call it how it is; Nintendo DSi XL. iPod touch XL or iPad...hmm I guess iPad does sound better now.

Originally I would've said, "yes," "do it" because I was intending to do it. But I just had to cancel a transaction with an eBay member who had already paid for the item and thankfully received a refund to all my fees. I sold an iPad 16 GB for $610 with shipping within the same state, and I was like "Hmm not bad," but it turns out after March 30th eBay increased their final value fee by alot (9% and not many people have realized this since they don't pay that till the end of the month.) Besides that, Paypal to receive the funds, took out a fee of $25 when they are only supposed to take out 2.9% + .30 which will mount to $18 (still alot). In other words, assuming shipping would be $10. I would be receiving $610-$50-$25-$2 (insertion fee) for a total of $523 for a Brand new sealed iPad which I purchased with tax for $533.93. I would be losing even without opening the item, which is no good. I would be returning the iPad to the Apple store sealed and I would wait patiently for the 3G version to come out. Besides that its rare to sell a 16 GB iPad for $610, most are selling in the $540 range and with all the fees any seller would be at loss. JUST WAIT IS MY ADVICE

WiFi version is more future proof.

It could be argued that the WiFi version is better. WiFi (802.11n) will be around a long time and Hotspots continue to proliferate. And with 4G palm-sized WiFi routers like the Sprint Overdrive, you will enjoy a faster remote connection than the 3G iPad.

Then in a year or two, you can upgrade to a 4G iPad or stick with what you have.

This makes no sense. Not trying to be a d!ck but the 3G model is the Wifi model plus cellular modem and GPS. If you so choose, you can never acticate the 3G. Then you have a wifi version plus GPS. How is this not more "futureproof?" Im not arguing whether its worth the extra cost but given the ability to choose if they were both free, you would opt for the 3G one EVERY TIME.

I pre-ordered the 3G version but picked up the wi-fi version over the weekend.

I cancelled my pre-order. I figured out real fast that I don't need 3G or GPS. I already have those on my iPhone. If I really wanted 3G bad enough for the iPad, a quick jailbreak of my iPhone will take care of that issue. :)

Also I can't imagine using the iPad for GPS navigation. Too big IMHO.

Knowing Apple, a more feature packed iPad will be out next year at the same price point. I will wait.

Honestly, it's about the camera for you?

My iPhone has a camera. And when I want to take quality pics I use a real "camera". why would I need another subpar one on the IPad?

Bought the 32gb Wifi model, and in late April, will pickup the 32gb 3G model. Probably will give the Wifi to my wife for in-house use.
