I got to play around with the S6 for a couple days and I have to say I was really impressed. The trimmed down TouchWiz, much improved camera, improved fingerprint scanner, and the overall aesthetics were top notch and something to be expected from Apple's #1 competitor.

That being said, the battery life was crap and the volume levels still leave something to be desired. That alone kept me from making the permanent switch.

Really impressed with the direction that Samsung is going.

coming from a gs5 to a gs6 the battery life is exactly the same if not a tad bit better on the gs6.

The gs6 beat the 6 plus getting almost 2 hors longer Web browsing and 1 hour longer video playback.the only thing it losses to is 3g talk time and this is Samsung first major phone not using a qualcomm modem and there own modem so it will improve with updates down the road.

It don't bother me since verizon uses HD voice and uses lte now for calls.

How is the gs6 getting crappy battery life? Please explain!

If you need to find an excuse to not buy the gs6 don't make up something about it's battery life to justify not purchasing one.

Sell my iP6 and get a GSanything?

No way.

I have a GS4 issued by my employer. It's a terrible phone and is lagging almost as bad as the Motorola Razr M it replaced. I don't want any more to do with Samsung or Android right now. The only advantages I could see are a user replaceable battery and no need to jailbreak to tweak (which I don't bother with in the first place).

Not the S6, I sold the Plus and got the Note 4. The reduction in screen size with the S6 would only have had me sent it packing rather quickly.

My S4 runs great.

The battery life debate is a bit strange. My experience is a consistent 5 hours SOT over 24-36 hours. Sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less. That is after is cycled the battery a few times as it appeared shorter the first two days which is what may be causing the knee-jerk reactions.

No disabling things either. I'm mixing wifi and 4G with BT always on background syncing and pushing notifications to a Vivosmart. Brightness on auto.

I'm no Apple hater. I've had enough of their products in all categories over the last 15 years, most recently a 5s and just bought an Air 2 which is fantastic. But, for me, phones at 5.0 or 5.1 inch are perfect. Until Apple plug that gap, I'll be more than happy with the S6.

Samsung haters are gonna have to find a new angle because build quality is most definitely not an angle now. Try it for a week... you might just 'think different' by the end of it

Putting a 2500mAh battery into a QHD smartphone is almost always going to result in poor battery life overall. Out of the box? Not so much (which is when most battery benchmarks are made). Throw a handful of apps and games on there and it will become quite noticeable that Samsung should have thrown in a higher capacity battery.

To compare, I use the same apps on my Androids as I do on my iPhones. Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Bleacher Report, Netflix, Gmail, Clash of Clans, and a few others. Throughout the day with mild use, I found I had to throw my S6 on the charger at least 3 times vs. the one time I had to charge my iPhone 6 at night before bed.

Will your experience differ from mine? Absolutely. Do I feel comfortable going through 3 charge cycles on a phone per day? Not really. Especially if I can't replace the battery. That alone was excuse enough.

I find it quite hard to believe that you went through 3 charge cycles in a day with a gs6 with mild use. You already return it?

The gs6 screen at same brightness is 20% more power efficient then the 1080p gs5 screen.the gpu is also more efficient

I understand, but I've never owned a GS5 and I really wasn't comparing the two. I'm sure this has a lot to do with the 14nm Exynos SOC they are using now, which touts higher performance with more power efficiency, which was an awesome move.

Honestly, if they threw in maybe a 2900+ mAh battery and increased the factory volume levels this phone would be perfect. Really excited to see what the Note 5 is going to deliver in this regard, because you can always root and modify the latter. If Apple doesn't do much with the 6S I will definitely be picking one up.

The gs6 does not have Crap battery life.your phone was probably updating and syncing all your stuff.cloud,my verizon and all the other services when you used it.

I use all those apps and coming from a gs5 it is a tad bit better.

Bottom line is the gs6 has better battery life then the iPhone 6 and beats the 6 plus in everything but 3g talk time.

Not sure about that. My 6+ seems to last far longer than my 6Edge. Not that I'm complaining about the battery life on my edge, I'm certainly not - but the 6+ is still for me much better.

My 6Edge lasts about as long as the Nexus 6 for me (which was still shorter than the Note 4).

I owned an iPhone 6 briefly and an S6 currently.

I think the S6 is the all around better device. I will revist iPhones when the 6S launches,

But even then, in all likelihood, the Galaxy S6 is probably more of a competitor to the iPhone 7, not the 6 or 6S. It's that far ahead of the curve.

This. It is shocking how much behind Apple has fallen, primarily on the SW front. This is the first smartphone that I can actually feel productive on, without straining. It is the perfect size. It is built incredibly well. Android Lollipop is not the atrocity it once was. It has a good app store (not as good as the Apple Store yet, but getting better all the time), it is somewhat open if you want to do crazy stuff with your device, etc., etc.

I would have a hard time returning back to iOS at this point.

Oh, and Apple needs a back button. After a Windows Phone and the S6 Edge, I cannot use my wife's iPhone without hitting a phantom back button. Ha!

Yes. Honestly my iPhone 6 feels 5 years behind with that screen and multi tasking etc. And no previous Android phone made me think that. Have tried a lot of flagships.

And you can make that statement with a straight virtual face?

I fully expect the 6s to upset the status quo as the 5s did. Not that the 5s is any slouch of a phone almost 2 years after its release.

I agree. The 6S is not going to be that big of an upgrade to match the S6 hardware wise. I do like how fast Apple has been adding features to iOS lately. Lokking forward to see what's in store for iOS9 and what Samsung delivers with the Note 5.

And I fully expect the note 5 to do the same to the 6s.but I highly doubt the 6s will break 5500 geekbench numbers but we need to wait and see.

Yes I am. I went to ATT last night to mess around with the S6. I really liked it. I'm afraid to plunk down the cash for an off contract one though because I tend to go back to iPhone.

The issues with iOS 8.3 and not being able to access files through iFunBox and the general bugginess of it are just turning me off. My 6+ lagged, most of the time I could not take a picture from within a text message because it would show half the keyboard and then crash etc etc. I'm using a 6 now and for whatever reason (could be my imagination, does not lag like the 6+ I had that I just sold on Swappa).

Sigh.. may go back to ATT tonight and look at it again ! I'm just a little hesitant mostly because of the App Store vs Google Play. I feel like the App store is much superior. Also, I have quite a few dollars invested in the App store.

And you know that how? Also, it depends on what aspects of hardware are being compared. I really like the prevailing thinking. Somehow it's not going to matter to most people the exact hardware that's in the 6s.

Carriers Removing Certain Apps From Samsung Galaxy S6
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2015/04/carriers-removing-certain-apps-from-samsung-galaxy-s6/

Each single carrier worldwide is messing with the apps and bloatware as far as they want. That's not cool, ios are pretty much the same world wide.

Also paying that much for such an expensive phone but at the same time getting all this bloatware for free..definitely not cool, it feels cheap.

Image

Wait, that's from one of my post. None of those apps came preinstalled, though it would've cool to getting kingdom rush and sonic the hedgehog for free. Also, I don't think my alma mater (USF) is large enough to warrant their app preloaded for the entire country.

Here is a list of the apps I disabled, and most came from at&t.

I'm guessing Samsung went to the same manufacture of touch ID. It really looks like it works the same.
No. Apple bought the company behind the technology. As history goes, Apple never let other companies using its technology like Siri.

Yep agree with those thoughts. I will probably sell my 6+. The S6 edge is that good or me.
