Someone has a gap between the glass and the frame? It's just on the left side. A piece of paper fits in that gap

The 12 pro max is the the first time in a long time that the bigger more expensive phone actually has differences other than the bigger screen and killer battery. The speakers sound better, it has better cameras, and the screen is bigger.

You couldn't pry my 12PM out of my hands (until next year maybe). I like it much, much better than the 11PM. To each his/her own but am surprised that so many folks are not happy w/ the phone. I've held w/ 2 hands since the 6 came out and use pods if I'm on calls, so it rarely comes out when I'm on the go. For me this is the perfect solution for media consumption, camera and talk/text. I gave my iPad away when I got the 11PM and love the larger phones.

Have you asked your fingers how they feel? Screaming in pain from the sharp edges, are they not?

Yes, I have the same on my 12PM, and the same paper-thin gap along the top edge – not really visible unless you shine a light into it at just the right angle, but big enough for a piece of paper to slide into it. I also have a 12 Pro, and that has the exact same gap along the left and bottom edges, so I think it’s going to be common to all of them. It’s just the way they’re put together.

I got my 12 Pro Max saturday morning, and have felt iffy about it since. I had the XS Max (favourite iPhone), 11 Pro Max, so I've used big phones, but this one is wider, and with the flat sides, I find it harder to get a secure grip around. I have huge hands too lol. I use my phones naked, and have never dropped them, but this one really feels precarious in the hands. I don't like cases, and using one would also make this already huge phone even bigger. IMO, this phone crosses the line of usability, not just because of its size, but also the design, which isn't really easy to hold. I know some people have different opinions though.

I use my phone for 99% of payments so paying one handed is a bit more difficult I'm finding, and I can no longer one-hand it for camera use like I've done with the last 2 gens. I hold it the same way, but it just starts slipping out of my hands immediately!

I also compared a bunch of apps (Notes, News etc.) and it looks like the extra space is wasted in many cases. Notes has a border around it, elements are the same size in News with more whitespace around them, so I'm not sure if the larger screen has any actual extra functionality. I don't really watch videos on my phone, so that's not a use case for me.

When I got the 11PM, I was tempted by the non-max size, but was worried I'd find the 5.8" too small, since I browse and read a fair bit when out with my phone. I went in store to compare to the 12 Pro, and at the moment, I think the 6.1" strikes just the right balance. It's easy to handle (for me) and the screen definitely doesn't feel too small.

So I think I'll exchange, but the problem is stock. There's no 12 Pros till the 3rd of Dec according to Apple's website.

I've used mine for several hours and don't feel any roughness on the edges. I'm running my finger along the edge and it feels smooth? Not sure if this is just me or what but not experiencing that issue.

Somewhere!
Sticking with our 12PM. Have been enjoying the camera. Put them in silicone cases and surprisingly it does not make them feel much larger. Feels great in the hand. we're glad we have gone to the 12PM from 11PM. Only disappointment was no charging block. But we have past ones around.

The sides are smooth but what about the part where the steel band intersects with the glass, especially the back glass? Does that not dig into your fingers when you hold / type on the phone?

It's .3 mm wider than your 11 PM. You should not feel the difference. Unless you find the flat sides make it feel wider.

I'm loving the size of the 12pm coming from my xs. XS feels tiny now. I haven't had any issues holding. It is a bit heavy though ! Battery worth it for me

Am I the only one who loves the design?! Lol I came from the 11PM and I absolutely love the 12PM. I think it’s miles better to hold since I have a much better grip. I hope they don’t change the design for a while. But to each their own, it’s not really much of a big update from the 11PM but definitely happy with my purchase.
I love mine as well. I almost cancelled my order because of the reviews I saw. I am so glad I didn’t. I love the size and feel of the 12 PM. I came from the XSMax.

I must be the combination of the .3mm and the flat sides because my hand does not wrap around it nearly as much as the 11PM. It strangely feels much larger even though it isn't.

I’ve been looking for this thread. Got mine last Friday, been pretty happy with the design and the size. Stuck a screen protector on it and plan to use caseless since I have AppleCare +. Absolutely no issues holding it, in fact love the edges and have no complaints compared to my 11PM. First time I’ve went caseless since the iPhone 5 since the edges give enough grip. Always used a speck grip case on all of my previous iPhones due to their insanely slippery curved edges.

I’m on the iPhone upgrade program and apple already sent me out the box to return the 11PM but I’ve 2 weeks to decide before then if I want to keep 12 PM. In terms of upgrades I’d say overall it’s a small upgrade across the board. I could always sell my 11 PM but I still have to pay off half of it before I own it so it might just be better sticking with the 12PM while my monthly payment stays the same. That was the whole point of me joining the IUP last year, so I could get the latest and greatest every year.

I’d be interested to hear the thoughts of anyone else in a similar situation on the IUP. Better to just upgrade, or keep the 11PM, pay it off and sell it next year? The 11 Pro Max 256GB is selling for only $800 now on Swappa in mint condition, I’d have hoped that would be the going rate for one next year, but that is already $400 depreciation after a year! Not to mention people have to pay sales tax on used phones now too. Upgrading to the 12PM seems like a no brainer.

Was ready to upgrade from XS max to 12 Pro Max. But I tried it a few minutes and found the sharp edge very uncomfortable. I use my phones without a case, and have been very happy with the shape and size of the XS.
I would definitely have to add a case on the 12 MP , that would make it bigger and heavier. So I think I will pass and hope they improve the shape next year.

The shape will not change for at least a few years.

I'm returning mine. I just don't see a big enough difference to justify the upgrade this year from the 11 Pro Max. Honestly, I think Apple has made wireless charging worse with these new models. Unless you are using their charger and magsafe its incredible slow, and I'm not about to go out and buy all new wireless chargers just to accommodate the phone, at least not right now. Magsafe to me is a completely useless feature and I honestly find the phone uncomfortable to hold and I have fairly large hands.

So for those reasons, I'm returning mine and hope that next years model will have touch ID which would be an immediate upgrade for me.

It's not the .3mm. That is almost nothing. It's the flat sides.

I would probably feel similar upgrading from a 11PM. I don't see why anyone would upgrade unless really wanted 5G. I upgraded from XS and it is definitely a nice upgrade with speed, 5G, camera and battery.

This is my first iPhone since the 4 – which was my favorite body style. I got bored with the same "iPhone feeling" and switched to Galaxy devices. I have to say that I'm in love with the design of this phone. I don't find it hard to handle nor do the edges feel sharp to me. You would have to pry this phone from my dead cold hands before I consider returning it. It's nice having a phone with a flat screen.

Why would you wait to sell the 11PM, if you’re keping the 12PM? Just sell it privately now!

I’m keeping my 12PM because the camera is just awesome however I knew my 11PM was the sweet spot for me. I think this will be my final year of annual upgrades.

I gave my 11pm to my oldest son who said our transaction is final ?
