The Minority of what? AT&T's 85.1 million subscribers?
Get a life.....

Minority of people complaining about coverage who are:
  • With bad At&t coverage
  • Are complaining about it
  • When purchasing their phone researched and/or knew there SHOULD be sufficient coverage

That's what I think he's talking about.

Hey some one understood what I was getting at.

And yet he can leave AT&T as he pleases. If he stays with AT&T it just means he is a madoquists(spelling?) in wireless.

Honestly, everyone complaining should just shut it and switch. That would take out the strain they put. Also we can get peace from their remarks. The droid or whatever verizon has is waiting.

Why don't people like you stop complaining about people complaining about AT&T?

You see the title of the thread before you click on it... Why do you even bother opening it? It would be easier for you just to glance over this thread, and comment on another one, where you will (hopefully) be productive and useful.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

If you want a new phone/carrier, great, knock yourself out. But we really don't need yet another thread whose sole point is to complain about AT&T in NYC or San Fran. Yes, there are problems there. AT&T has even admitted it delivers a sub-par product in those markets. But honestly, I wish MR would ban these useless "I'm leaving the iPhone" threads. This isn't Twitter.

It's good to know that AT&T service works so well in Minnesota, Indiana, and pretty much anywhere but San Francisco or New York City. As those are the only two cities I spend most of my time in, it doesn't really do me much good.

Also, AT&T is only to blame for part of it. The way the iPhone manages connections is a big part of it. I can't stand when it shows "no network" or "searching..." when I know it can see the network, or when it says it can't load a webpage while it's showing me five bars of 3G.

I may jailbreak it and see if there is some sort of network keep alive utility that will ping the network constantly and not drop the data connection.

hi, MR newbie here. burn me for asking the obvious question, but how on earth can you say that the "iPhone is decent". what the heck are you comparing it to? have you forgotten who the trendsetter is? :apple:

You may have missed daylight saving's time last weekend. Or the last four years. Apple set the trend in 2007. Since then, they have offered:

1) A better camera
2) A video camera
3) 3G (you can guess how I feel about that)
4) A better compass

And a ton of apps I don't care about. It's insulting to all of us that Apple held off on all of these "features" to get all the sheep fanboys to buy a new iPhone every year. It is the Apple way - leave out all the features everyone wants and then provide a bunch of upgrades. All I care about is a good browser and a reliable data connection. The iPhone browser is fine but I'm going to explore what Android and other phones can offer

Any one who complains about got an iPhone knowing that AT&T was spotty in their area I will classify as an idiot.

Steps in choosing a cell phone
Step 1
Choose the network that is best for you in your area.
Step 2
Choose a plan and add-ons that are best for you.
Step 3
Choose the phone that works best for you on said network

If you skip any of these steps you lose all right to complain. To many people are skipping straight to step 3 choosing an iPhone and then they complain about the other 2 things but if they used their brains they would know that AT&T in their area was poor and choose another network.

I am on AT&T because it works really well were I spend my time. I left Verizon because of their crap service at the time in Lubbock followed by the lies that they would be in the area in 6 months (6 months turn into over 3 years). AT&T were the best in Lubbock TX at the time. I went with Spirnt and then switch to AT&T because my family was on it and stayed on it because most of my family and friends were on it and still had great service.

Back then step 1 said AT&T and sprint
Step 2 says AT&T

If you run it -
Step 1 - AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.
Step 2 - AT&T due to free mobile to mobile.
Step 3 - Blackberry :D

For the record, AT&T gave me much better reception before they started shutting down all the edge sites to expand 3G. I also don't blame AT&T fully for this, I think the iPhone is certainly to blame as well.

And yet he can leave AT&T as he pleases. If he stays with AT&T it just means he is a madoquists(spelling?) in wireless.

I was asking if I was the only one and apparently I'm not. I absolutely will switch but I'm not paying a 200 dollar early termination fee. I've suffered this long and will make it through June.

I might make a youtube video where I smash this iphone with a hammer or throw it into a river.

I agree, there is nothing worse than someone complaining about someone complaining.

I have been hesitant to get the iphone because of service and most importantly the price. However the price has come down -still not quite as low as sprint-, and the service in Columbus isn't that bad, but sprint is definitely better.

I could truly understand people's frustration if they live in cities with horrible at&t quality but really want the iphone. However good competition changes everyone. So I look forward to other companies being more competitive, which will in turn cause at&t to improve, or apple will start offering iphones through other providers.

I plan on getting the new iphone when it comes out, but it will suck to leave sprint, especially since they finally have their act together.

How do you figure?
Sprint is the worst provider in the US....
And number 1 in losing subscribers every quarter.

yep, just like saying at&t sucks everywhere. Most sprint users know they have improved greatly. every time you call them now they ask you to rate their service, then they call you again to rate their service. They are definitely better in my city. And my internet is fast as well. However, there are no great apps like the iphone, which sucks.:(

Interesting.
I know their prices went down but I dont know why their steady decline in customer base.
Unlike Verizon and AT&T that keep increase their subscribers.

Actually, I am happy with AT&T right now. Things have gotten so much better coverage-wise. I am in no hurry to leave them. Not anymore.

I want to switch, but not due to problems with the network.

Apparently, AT&T was forced to settle a lawsuit here in Missouri regarding back taxes. They're passing the costs of that settlement on to their customers in the form of a 5-11% surcharge! Not acceptable.

I always read an entire thread. (when not over 4 pages) Also, my comment is productive as it has the potential to eliminate whiners. Imagine, this forum back to its roots when people had great debates on the iPhone. Big win if you ask me... also

You mad?

AT&T works fine for me. No problems in the NoVA area. And their customer service is 1000x better than the losers at Verizon! They always assume that your wrong and theyre right! I will never be a Verzion customer again!

I wish I didn't have problems in NoVA! I usually am connected but it's really slow for me. For the most part it's good but Vz has much better service in the metro. :) At least At&t is catching up!

Quite simply put, if AT&T put the effort into NY & SF that they did at SXSW they would not have nearly as many complaints as they do now. These two places are the highest percentages of iPhone buyers in the country if not of any worldwide city.

The problem is clearly AT&T management because they have the funds and the ability. Thosetwo places should be there highest priority.

at&t's termination fee is $175 and not $200. the fee is also reduced $5 for every month the contract is honored. so with only three months to go on your contract, your etf would be $175 - $5*21 = $70. if you really want to make it to june over $70, fine. but given your dissatisfaction, i'd just switch.

at&t's terms of service

An early termination fee of $175 applies if service is terminated before the end of the contract term and will be reduced by $5 for each full month toward your minimum term that you complete.

AT&T is the best company I've used. Never have they made any mistakes with my bills. Always have a good 3G connection wherever I am at. Just pretty expensive compared to other companies. Since they carry the iPhone, of course I'm always going to stay with them.
