I think you are using the older version that I described, they have updated it for the iPhone 6 and this is the version I am talking about.

screen shot of callbar taking up half your screen?

As explained above, it's technically only a third but it may as well be the whole screen as it covers so much of the screen you can't do anything.

Just curious. What else would you be doing other than using Callbar's features when using Callbar?

And don't say, trying to use the internet or some other app because you're aware you can roll Callbar back up by swiping up right?

Doesn't matter, the whole brilliance of CallBar was that it didn't interrupt you at all, you could simply continue what you were doing with no action required.

For me personally, I disliked the pre-iOS 7 version of callbar. I found it too hard to use, it would be small enough to ignore when I'm doing my stuff but when I actually wanted to use callbar, everything was way too small

With this version, I can just hide callbar by swiping up and whenever I need to use it, either tap the status bar or swipe down to open the notification center along with the callbar controls

Doesn't seem to bother me. But one annoying thing I found is that sometimes callbar when you try to unhide the callbar controls by tapping the status bar crashes you to safe mode

I guess another inconvenience with callbar (old and new) in general is that you don't get much information when you got a call waiting or you're trying to call another person while already in one but I don't do multiple user calling at the same time enough to make me uninstall callbar 7. I did consider it at one point though

Yeah it definitely has advantages. I like that everything is bigger and easier to hit.

If you don't want callbar with all the options, why don't you just use the default iOS notification? It is basically a copy of the old callbar any way I am pretty sure.

Call notifications never came in as banners or anything like that with the default iOS notifications.

Yeah. I'm surprised Apple doesn't use Jailbreak tweaks as a source of inspiration. They have a few times, I would bet we will eventually see quick reply and something like CallBar in the future.

It does if the phone is unlocked. From the sounds of the OP, he was worried about when he was in an app. If you set your Call notifications to banner, it will be the same as the old callbar.

The Lockscreen is the only thing that is different.

Pretty sure that's not true. All the "phone notifications" you are talking about do is control how a voicemail notification or something like that is left for you. The phone call still comes through full screen.

What? If the phone is unlocked the whole screen changes to an incoming call screen similar to what it's like when the phone is locked.

I guess you guys are right. I clearly don't get many phone calls. I had to call myself to see it.

I love it. Looks so natural now. In fact, the way Apple should have done it. Was happy to buy it. Before I thought the bar was too small and hard to manage...especially while driving.

It doesn't bother you that its entire purpose has been defeated?

Maybe I missed this but I have a question. I am loving call bar and have set it to replace my dialer app. However when I hit the voicemail button it just calls my voice mail rather than access the visual voicemail. Is there a way to change this?

How so?

Callbar was introduced to allow users to make phone calls from the lockscreen and inside apps without having to go to the Phone.app to do that.

So, it was offered as a small bar for iOS 6. Does the fact that it is no longer a small bar mean that it no longer works?

Can you still use Callbar to make calls from the lockscreen and inside apps?

Seems to me you are the one that has attached "minimalism" as a purpose to the tweak. Something the dev may have had in his original intentions, but certainly NOT the entire purpose of the tweak.

I.E. Form is not defeating the function of the tweak.

No the main purpose of the tweak was to fix the intrusive full screen incoming call display that interrupted whatever you were doing and that you couldn't exit. You literally had to sit there and stare at your phone like a caveman waiting for it to go to voicemail.

With CallBar (old version) this was fixed brilliantly by replacing that full screen notification with a thin bar across the top that allowed you to just continue on with what you were doing, or answer it.

And Callbar still does that.

Your objection is to the form it takes - which does not defeat what it does.

It doesn't though bc it takes up a third of the screen. You can only continue doing things on the bottom half which is almost always essentially useless.

Again…slide the screen up which put it's out of the way. Slide it back to re-access Callbar functions.

For some reason this doesn't work for me when I try to do it, only once the call is active.

So when the phone is ringing and I'm staring at the "CallBar taking up 2/3 of my screen only showing the bottom 1/3", can I slide up that screen while it's still ringing? Or can you only slide it up after you answer the call?

It seems I'm in the minority on this topic, by I actually agree with TH55. If I remember correctly, the original intent of CallBar was to not be interrupted by an incoming call. Additional bonus features allowed you to make calls from the lock screen and within apps without having to close the app. But the main selling point was that you simply got a notification banner during an incoming call thus allowing you to continue doing what you're doing if you don't want to answer that call.

Anyways, just curious, with this new layout, when the phone is ringing, can you dismiss the CallBar screen?

Edit: For years this was one of my most favorite tweaks. It was a staple along with BiteSMS and its QC/QR features. Those two were must haves and so far on iOS 8 I don't have either installed. I think I'm gonna install CallBar and see how I like it. Seems as though there are many people in this thread who prefer this new version. I tend to agree with eyoungren often on many topics here. Perhaps that will be true for the new CallBar as well!
