So when the phone is ringing and I'm staring at the "CallBar taking up 2/3 of my screen only showing the bottom 1/3", can I slide up that screen while it's still ringing? Or can you only slide it up after you answer the call?

It seems I'm in the minority on this topic, by I actually agree with TH55. If I remember correctly, the original intent of CallBar was to not be interrupted by an incoming call. Additional bonus features allowed you to make calls from the lock screen and within apps without having to close the app. But the main selling point was that you simply got a notification banner during an incoming call thus allowing you to continue doing what you're doing if you don't want to answer that call.

Anyways, just curious, with this new layout, when the phone is ringing, can you dismiss the CallBar screen?

Edit: For years this was one of my most favorite tweaks. It was a staple along with BiteSMS and its QC/QR features. Those two were must haves and so far on iOS 8 I don't have either installed. I think I'm gonna install CallBar and see how I like it. Seems as though there are many people in this thread who prefer this new version. I tend to agree with eyoungren often on many topics here. Perhaps that will be true for the new CallBar as well!

Exactly right on the original intent of CallBar. It takes up 1/3 of the screen not 2/3, but it's still way too much.

Others say you can dismiss incoming calls by swiping up, this does not work for me until the call is active.

Eyoungren is on mark. Yes you can slide it up while phone is ringing and slide it back down as many times as you want. Works for me every time.

AT&T visual voicemail does not work with callbar though to the above above poster and never has. I just disable that button and I don't replace the phone app...

I like iOS 8 callbar and haven't had any issues.

Speaking only for myself…

I cannot answer as to why CB may not slide up during a call because I do not have Callbar set to activate for incoming calls. However, I have initiated a call and been able to slide the screen up.

If I get a call, no matter what I am doing, I have one of two options. My carrier is CDMA and I have an iPhone 5, so there is no possibility of using data while on a call. Consequently, I can answer and for me calls involved my complete attention so I'm not talking to someone and playing with an app. Or I can dismiss the call, in which case I go back to what I was doing.

Perhaps that is the difference as most things people would use a computer for - I still use a computer for, not my phone.

In any case, while I get what is being stated about minimalism and the bar and all of that, I just don't really have much of an issue with the new CB method of doing things.

How so?

Callbar was introduced to allow users to make phone calls from the lockscreen and inside apps without having to go to the Phone.app to do that.

So, it was offered as a small bar for iOS 6. Does the fact that it is no longer a small bar mean that it no longer works?

Can you still use Callbar to make calls from the lockscreen and inside apps?

Seems to me you are the one that has attached "minimalism" as a purpose to the tweak. Something the dev may have had in his original intentions, but certainly NOT the entire purpose of the tweak.

I.E. Form is not defeating the function of the tweak.

Here are the original descriptions in Cydia:

This purpose is greatly diminished if not completely neglected with the new design.

Obviously we see two different purposes here.

Yes that's fine if you personally found another good use for it, but we were talking about the original and main purpose of the tweak by the developer, which as I have shown above, was clearly what I'm describing.

Awesome. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm going to install it and see how it goes. Who knows, maybe I'll prefer the new layout over the old one! This forum always has great info. Thanks! :D

So I've downloaded CallBar. I'm happy to see that it doesn't take up nearly as much real estate as I previously thought. This new version just might grow on me. Time will tell.

I also wanted to point out, during the tutorial, they teach the user that there are two methods to hiding the CallBar during an incoming call. You can either swipe up (which works perfectly fine for me) or you can press the sleep button. Not sure why you can't swipe up but you can also just press the sleep button and the CallBar will shrink into the status bar. It works perfectly!

Cool thanks!

Practice your fractions or stop exaggerating to make your point...

Anyways, IMO the change was done so that you can more easily swipe up if needed since you are working w longer than thumb distance devices now.

What do you mean? I said it was one third of the screen.

It takes up half the screen! That completely defeats the purpose! What happened to that beautiful thin white bar? I know the phones are bigger now, they could've moved it down. Thinking of uninstalling.

No I'm talking about with the 6/6 plus. It still takes up a third of the screen!

i'm just going to quote your first two. seeing as the whole point of the thread is to discuss/complain about the screen estate of the tweak it should be properly measured for discussion.:apple:

It was obviously a figure of speech, and regardless 1/3 renders the screen just as functionless as 1/2.

Due to this discussion, I bought this tweak. I really like it, but I do think the OP has a point. Look at all the wasted space in this screenshot. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1419374770.662841.jpg

That said, it's not enough to bother me or keep me from using the tweak. Money well spent imo.

That space above the "Tap to redial or choose a number" wording is not wasted space. It's where a phone number goes. If you tap on it the last number dialed will come up and automatically dial.

I also find that the ability to totally access most of the feature set of the Phone app from the lockscreen is invaluable. Doing THAT takes up 100% of the screen.

Anyone else not like the new CallBar?

Depends how you look at it. The buttons are quite large in the place the number goes(unnecessarily so in my opinion). Plus when actually dialing a number it goes full screen anyway. No need for the call/end call button to be so large. I get its to make it easier, but realistically, it could certainly be smaller. Do I care? Not at all. Just saying he does somewhat have a point.

Has anyone experienced a glitch with CallBar where when you click on a name/number to dial it the screen quickly rotates from portrait to landscape and then back again when rotation lock is on?

Been MIA or else would've responded earlier

Pressing the volume buttons also dismisses the callbar screen to status bar while it's ringing (and also silences the ring)

It annoys me sometime though. I just want to silence the ringer first before seeing who's calling but now I have to tap the status bar to bring the screen back
