I have waited, and waited to make a purchase only to be really disappointed at how the new imac looks. What does everyone think of the new look? Maybe I should get a MacBook Pro instead?

Or save your money by getting one of the old ones at a discounted price. The machines themselves aren't significantly different, just the next somewhat faster generation.

I could have done without the black border but I don't lose sleep over these things.

I'm kind of on the fence on this one. I don't dislike it, but it's not really doing anything for me.

I'd like to see something new out of Apple designers. This feels, sort of, like more of the same.

I love the design of the new iMac but I think the new keyboard sucks. Does that count?

I don't. I don't like the black border. At all. Not a fan of 2-tone.
I like my White one better. So happy, bright, different.

Edit: Love the keyboard.

I can't believe they called a special event for what turned out to be primarily a change of materials. I realize that there is more to it than this, but not much (I don't care if it is thinner--I'd like to use a desktop processor).

I was really expecting a MMMM introduction, something I would have bought immediately.

No, I'm really happy with how it turned out. The presentation seemed rushed though, they didn't chose the most flattering backdrop for the iMac pictures, and it made it kind of blend out.. look ugly.

Honestly I love the black around the screen, the one thing I noticed when I saw the previous iMacs is that the chin overwhelmed the screen, and even though there is still a chin, it stops it from being much of an issue.

Everything but the video card is awesome for me (low end is what I'm looking at) and since I'm kind of leaving PC gaming.. I don't really care that much, as long as it can play be semi-modern games.

i like it. it's new and refreshing. very sleek. the black bezel will make the glass screen pop more than it already will.

I hated it when I first saw it. Now it's grown on me.

I still like the old design though, and I'd rather have a flat back, but whatever, I won't be getting one any time soon.

I like it.

They also seem to have made the whole thing a bit lower-slung. The 24" iMac was a bit high when I sat in front of it, so perhaps the new one will be just right.

glossy only though?

I like it, and I like the fact you can upgrade the 24 inch to 2.8ghz and upgrade space to a whole terabyte now... I even like the keyboard because I like the feel of laptop type keyboards better and this one reminds me of the macbook keyboard and I think it'll be less stick prone and easier to use.

HOWEVER

IT ONLY COMES WITH A GLOSSY OPTION!!! I know people like glossy and I see how it fits with their laptops (consumer macbook in only glossy, and pro series with a choice) however, they may lose business to companies looking to buy them for highly windows offices or spaces with bad lighting because of the reflection of the glass (glass it says on the page) screen. Not completely sure, but it seems they should have kept matte as an option. I prefer matte and I know some people will too.

Otherwise I like the fact it's not completely redone, just tweaked and colored. I like it :)

I don't know if I hate it but I definitely was expecting more. I still marvel at how the Apple community (myself included) get all fuzzed up about these "Apple Events" and, for the most part, they are pretty damn worthless.

Anyway, I've already made a commitment to ditching desktops for good so the new iMac does nothing for me. I am really interested in the Mini but of course, Apple has treated it like Harry Potter. It's so full of magic and potential yet Aunt and Uncle want to keep it locked under a staircase. I don't really understand why.

I actually really like it. I'm sorta kinda looking at buying one, and I'm debating a refurb old model (cheaper, not Rev. A) vs. new model (a bit more expensive, Rev A, much better looking to me, new keyboard, "free" iLife '08) and the looks of the machine factor in pretty high for me... my computer will be moving into a ore public spot, so I need to try and keep it looking neat, etc.

Nice simile. :)

I'm loving the new design, to be honest. I'm also loving the inclusion of a SuperDrive on every single configeration.
