I purchased a 11.6'' 128GB MBA a few weeks ago and have found myself using my MBP 13'' instead. I love the air for how light it is and it's perfect to carry around university all day, as the MBP can feel like carrying around bricks, but the MBA is simply too small.

I was selling my MBP as I cannot afford to keep both, but I think I'm going to have to see the Air....

That's why I got the 13" MBA... you loose only .6 lbs... or a can of coke really... compared to 1.6 lbs for the MBP... granted, everybody has slightly different needs...

I didn't get the 11" machine for this reason. My 13" MBA is the same width and height as my old MBP, but much lighter. And faster.

The 13" MBA would have been perfect if you wanted to replace the 13" MBP. 11" is just a stretch for daily use IMO.

I'm happy I purchased it with student discount, so hopefully I wont lose too much by selling it.

I have been using the new MBA13 ('ultimate config') and it has corrupted me because it's so light and zippy. Now whenever i go back to my 13" or 15" MBP they feel clunky and very heavy.
I think i am going to sell everything else and stay with the MBA.
It's that good (of course excepting the lack of BL keyboard, which i am getting over)..

Sorry to hear that. As the others have said, that's why I ordered a 13.3. The 11.6 looks really cool because of its size, but for what I do, the 13.3 makes more sense.

Are you still within your 14 days to return? I'll be they'd let you swap out for the 13 (with a restock fee).

No regret here. I got the MBA ultimate 13 and really loving it. I said to everyone I know, the 11" is cute. But, for the real work the MBA 11 is simply too small.

Well, the 11" is not a bad netbook, you know. But for a lot of people a netbook is too small for real work.

I just bought an Ultimate 11.6 earlier today and I am regretting it a bit too. The screen is just smaller than I thought (even though my old computer had a 12.1 inch screen). I think the problem is the huge bezel around the screen. It makes the screen look even smaller and they probably could have fit a 13 inch screen on the 11. The 16:9 ratio doesn't help either. I kind of wish I went with the 13 inch. Maybe I'll get used to it.

You should return it then while you can!

No regrets here - I bought the 11" and use it every day at work.

I was torn between the 13" and 11" when purchasing, and ended up going with the 11" - I'm now certain I made the correct decision.

IMO the 11" is not too small for serious daily work (which is how I'm using it), and I disagree with the statement that it is a netbook - it feels way faster than my 17" MacBook Pro 2.93GHz for office / mail / launching apps etc.

Put it this way - I moved from carrying my 17" every day to the 11" every day and I'm not looking back (though I still have the 17" at home).

That's why I sold my old white macbook and got a mac mini. I'm probably going to sell my ipad sometime this week. I have an ultra portable *SECONDARY* computer for travel and work. and I have a mac mini for home with PLEX!!!!! BOOYAH!!!

It has the same thickness...that is all. The width or height makes it bigger. its just like comparing 2 pancakes. One of them is just a little bit bigger.

I have a 15 mbp. Picked up an 11 air and LOVE it!
When I first got it I was very impressed and felt good about it (out and about in morning), then after bringing it home, I stated to get worried about the screen size, it almost felt like it shrank... I let this small concern pass and just started using it and haven't looked back! I look forward to using it everyday.

Yes, but the OP specifically mentioned that he found the 11.6" too small. The 13" is probably going to be more comfortable for someone coming from a 13" MBP...

Debating keep 11" MBA, swap for 13" or stay w 13" MBP

I'm closing in on the end of my 14 day return window on a 11.6" MBA. My previous machine is a 13" MBP.

I generally really like the 11 MBA. Its simply amazing that so much computer can be packed into something so tiny. The computer part has become irrelevant. The size is determined by needs of a keyboard and minimum size for a display.

I'm not one of those people who can comfortably look at tiny fonts. The PPI on the 13" MBP has been very comfortable for me. I haven't been able to decide if the 11" with its smaller and denser display makes the text simply too small for me. I've noticed that I have had to resort to zooming various applications, which is a pain. I have run into some cases where apps don't look quite right when zoomed in, not enough vertical pixels.

The 13" MBA seems to lose lots of the amazement. Unless you look at it edge wise, it looks like a 13" MBP... which I already have. The SSD would be nice. I'm sure I'd appreciate the lighter weight. But the amazement would be largely gone.

I'm finding that I can use the 11" MBA as a portable in many places I wouldn't consider using my 13" MBP. The 13" is simply too big. I'm afraid if I switched to a 13" MBA, that I wouldn't realistically use it as much on the go as the 11". The 11" is so tiny its like having an iPad that runs everything with a keyboard.

My third option is simply to keep my relatively new 13" MBP which now seems total devoid of character. Its a nice machine. But not exciting, not much of a conversation piece.

I do serious application development. For the apps I develop, the performance of the 11" MBA has been fine. Its been as fast or faster than my 13" MBP because of its SSD. If I really need to do serious work, I hook it up to my 28" monitor AND a second 20" monitor and 2TB disk farm. But I haven't been doing that much because its so darn easy to carry this little puppy wherever I go.

Decisions, decisions. Meanwhile my 14 days are almost up. Argh.

11.6 inch is missing too many things for me to justify. Battey life is worse. Performance is worse and SD card slot is missing. No way I am going with 11.6 inch just yet. I will wait for updates. Right now, I am sticking to my 13 inch MBA.

I am in the same boat right now. As much as I want to love the 11", I can't get over the battery life, and processor. I am looking forward to the updates when Apple incorporates some better specs.

Ditto. The battery life difference isn't that important to me, but the 11" seems like a bit of a ripoff at $1000 or more.

it's all relative. tell me of a viable substitute to the mba line-up in the market today. none of them will give you as complete of a package as the mba series.

while it's not bargain priced (apple nEVER was about this), it's fairly priced.

i spent nearly$2k out the door for my mba. i still cannot find something in that range that i'd be happy with.

Curious where you use your laptop that a 13" is simply too big. I travel a ton and my 13" works quite well for me. Can't imagine where a 13" would be too big.
