I just reverted back to iOS 10 from iOS 11 because of the laggy animations. I've had the GM installed since it was announced and the lag never went away. I figure I will wait until .1 comes out and might address the laggy animations.

Is there a way to revert back to iOS 10 now that iOS is officially released? This is the first time I’ve disliked iOS this much.

If you have an iPhone 7 and like the current feel of your home button response time and overall speed stay on 10.3.3.

If you want your phone to get a little bit slower overall and introduce a new time delay to your iPhone 7 home button "upgrade" to iOS 11.

It's a no brainer for me.

Based on your statement, I won't even try it on my iPhone 5S...

I have the normal concerns like most about general overall speed and battery life also.

I really can appreciate some of the more detailed refinements coming in iOS11, like the swipe down feature on the keyboard and the addition of the dock along with the customisable aspect of the control center, but personally overall i don't like the look of the new control center at all, not one bit. Aesthetically it looks unpolished and tacky.
Functionally it reminds me of when apple ditched spaces for mission control all the way back on snow leopard when they thought that combining multiple useful features into one puddled mess was somehow an improvement. usual change for changes sake.
Thank the gods for total spaces 2 that's all i'll say.

Considering i've been using the beta on just one of my devices the ipad mini 3 , i can attest that my doubts have been realised. the full swipe up from the bottom to go into multitasking is **** clunky on the ipad, and on slower devices its woeful and frequently glitches out to were the blurred background doesn't ever appear.
Then there's the app reorganisation where the OS has trouble figuring out whether your trying to move an app for organisations sake or trying to invoke the multitasking sidebar thingy, where you end up rearranging your folders instead of opening an app in multitasking sidebar.
Then there's the general overall speed on older devices, if you can classify the ipad mini 3 as old, it's slow glitchy laggy, it hangs and stalls a lot.
on closer inspection using apps to see the cpu usage, you see the cpu spiking up to 90% frequently.
all in all it's a safe bet to wait for the ipad version at least.
i'm not really sure about the phone side of things, but i doubt it's much different

You know who waited and made sure to release things when they thought things were perfect? The Japanese companies. And guess how successful they are today. Sony? Canon? Panasonic? They are bleeding money as they cannot keep up with the intense cycle of technology. As a company, there's only so much you can do. You cannot just wait and wait. In the highly competitive market like smartphone, you have to be brave enough to release things quickly and prepare to fix things when it breaks.

At least Apple kept a good balance between quality and feature releases.

This would make perfect sense if maintaining those high standards hadn't lead to Apple becoming the most successful tech company on the planet.

Apple managed to juggle between maintaining quality and keeping up with the fast paced technology.
How long have you been using Apple products? There were plenty of "buggy" releases. Look at the early days of OS X. Quite buggy until much much later.

I will stick to iOS10.3.2 for a bit longer because of:

  • on iPad you will lose the two pane widget view, it switches back to 1 pane so you can see less in one view and you have to scroll more
  • I will lose the option in my Launcher widget(s) such as Launcher, Magic Launcher Pro to quickly go to Settings such as 'Refresh in background', 'Location use per app', 'Notifications on apps' 'x amount of MB/GB Storage per app', Battery status (x hour of usage/standby) and Storage maintenance that are unfortunately missing in the list of options to see in the new Control Center. Apple unfortunately demanded third party developers such as Cromulent Labs 'Launcher' to remove their Settings launchers and also url schemes to Apple apps.
  • Also I can see now at once glance on my Notification Center to which WIFI I'm connected to. You can also achieve this last thing now with iOS11 Control Center for WIFI or Bluetooth if you long press those icons (with and without 3D Touch), however you have to press one more time to see it. Also I do wonder (it seems not looking at this Apple page) if you can switch between WIFI or Bluetooth connections from the Control Center. This is also possible with those third party launchers widgets in iOS10.
  • You can no longer fully shut down WIFI or Bluetooth on your iDevice via the new Control Center so odd. See also this.

“Individual anecdotal experiences” is something to keep in mind as well.

Yes. Very true, but I am gun shy after my 4S became unusable after one of the iOS updates. Typing was the biggest problem. It was so far behind what I was typing that I almost threw it our a window - common sense took over, and I didn't though ;)

Is it easy to revert? I went with 11 because the 8 that should be shipping at any moment will probably have 11 on it, but I should have waited, and left this one (6+) on 10. :(

Sorry for the basic question, but where can I download the software from? Apple?

Sorry, this is funny to me. Apple control the hardware and the OS software, and they prevent any other developer or application from making changes outside of their very strictly defined criteria. The number of devices out there is irrelevant, as they're all the same. It's not like Microsoft making Windows and literally having to take into account every possible hardware combination.

There's no real reason why iOS can't be pretty damn solid on day 1, because there are next to no variables. Of course, it's still a lot of work, but Apple make their own schedules. They could push things back if they really wanted to.
Apple needs to pay attention to details.

I tried iOS 11 on my 6 and it was a total disaster. I was lucky and downgraded to iOS 10.3. I don't plan to update for now. I could assume a performance loss for new (cool, useful) features but losing performance for nothing... no, thanks.

I will keep my iPad mini 4 and iPod touch on iOS 10 because I like syncing them to my MacBook Air on which I will stick with Sierra and iTunes 12.6.2. It has become difficult to understand what iOS works with what OS and with what iTunes. I don't want to louse my current arrangement up. I am a rather boring Apple user, don't use iCloud, don't own an iPhone, rarely buy apps, and only purchase music, books, and movies with the AIR

I reverted my 6s to 10.3.3 when it was still possible because the battery drain on early releases of iOS 11 was outrageous. I don't suppose 11.2.5 was a big improvement in this regard.

And here we are 11.3 and iOS 11 is still nowhere near the perfection of 10.3.3 :D
We aren't at 11.3, let alone 11.3.3, just the first beta of it (which many are finding to be quite good). :D

It is good in terms of iOS 11 , but it still sucks compared to what iOS used to be.
Im on 11.3 Beta 1 btw.
Well, there are people who found iOS 10 bad for them in one way or another. Certainly there are those who find iOS 11 to still be bad for them because of something, but there are certainly plenty that find it working just fine for them, and various people on the 11.3 beta 1 so far are quite happy with it (while there are some that have issues too).

I love iOS 11 and have never had issues with iOS in general. I love the new features they release!

Just curious, what is the game plan for folks who stick with old releases... your only option is to eventually upgrade or leave the platform entirely.
