Even the silver version, maybe because of the white bezels, is hard to imagine in a guy’s room or office.

I’m not opposed to color, but the particular colors chosen and the pastel-looking tone of the stands. It just veers pretty hard into the feminine lane.

Black bezels and a black Apple logo on the front might go a long way to improve the silver iMac to my macho manly eyes.

I'm surprised they didn't offer a Space Gray. The colors feel a bit like the iPhone 5C.

I think the 24" will especially (not solely) appeal to folks who like to match their iPhone cases and Apple watch bands with the Macs. I expect the next MacBook Air will come in multiple colors, as well. And then there are people who find Space Grey and Silver as boring as "PC Beige" and will welcome having a splash of color on their iMacs.

I mean let's be serious - Apple would have done extensive consumer research to see how people would feel about multi-colored Mac desktops and laptops. This was not some "nostalgia play" on the original G3 iMac colors. It was cold, calculated marketing.

I suspect they're offering the grown up colors in the larger iMac.

Yeah I expect the iMac Pro will be only Space Black and Silver.

Some of the colours look nice. I didn't think when looking at them that the blue one is for boys and pink is for girls. I looked at the green one and blue one and thought they looked nice and would add a nice wee splash of colour to the office. Not every computer needs to look like a 80s VCR and certainly I don't feel any colour of for men or women only. If anything I imagine them filling up tens of thousands of computer labs and making them less depressing again.

might have been a reasonable opinion, say, 40 years ago.
Looks like "popular" society has left some folks behind, eh?
As I’m sure you know, the words reasonable and popular are not synonyms.

And testosterone levels in men have plummeted in the past 40 years (seriously, look it up), so maybe there’s some truth to what you’re saying.

Grown men using pink and pastel green computers... ok then.

Remember those G3 iBooks with all colors ?

Pink is a traditionally masculine colour and far too brash for girls.

Casual vs more professional, sure. Playful vs more serious, sure.

But certainly not feminine. The thought never crossed my mind.
Yeah it seems Apple would make the new iMac essentially a large consumer product for basic activities like free time, education and office work.
The product showed some hours ago is no longer a professional machine both in marketing presentation and in hardware configuration.
The variety of colors isn't a problem.
The problem is a horrible design, limited hardware potentiality and no possibility to upgrade later by user or to repair by third party suppliers.
And if you choose the entry level iMac with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD (estimated 150 TBW) prepare yourself to throw it into the trash can in a couple of years.
In my personal opinion it's literally a plastic toy and a waste of money.

“Professional vs Childish” may have been a batter choice. While that’s not so say that any color can’t be “professional”, but these clearly don’t adhere to the traditional office workplace look, but that’s not the target audience.

For me personally, I wouldn’t buy any of these solely for the white bezel. The blue looks nice, but not with white bezels.
