That’s not my issue. Ideally, for me, I’d like the bezels to be black, but the white honestly isn’t really a big deal. What I do kind of wish though...was that the color on the “chin” was as vivid as the back of the back of the computer. I don’t mind the stand being more “muted” (or whatever the right word would be), but I would have liked the more vivid color to extend to the front, especially because this computer will be up against my wall, so you won’t really be seeing the back of it.

I’m really liking that green color, but have a feeling I’ll end up buying the purple one because my wife and daughter are all about purple...so I’m outnumbered 😂 (And this Mac would be replacing the Mac on the desk that is just off our kitchen, which is a “to be used by all of us” computer). If it was just for me, I’d definitely buy the green, though I was eyeing the blue as well!

Gosh, lots of you are really confused, so to clear things up, I've put together this helpful Gender Color Guide! Now you can just cross-reference your various household items and computing devices against this definitive guide to know if you look tough or like a fragile wilting lily or baby!

Also any grayscale color counts as "male" especially "gunmetal grey" which is EXTRA MALE. White is borderline because it's too much like bunnies or a WIMP FLAG OF SURRENDER. But if you call it "space white" it's okay. Absolutely no "eggshell" allowed!

Even the silver version, maybe because of the white bezels, is hard to imagine in a guy’s room or office.

I’m not opposed to color, but the particular colors chosen and the pastel-looking tone of the stands. It just veers pretty hard into the feminine lane.

Black bezels and a black Apple logo on the front might go a long way to improve the silver iMac to my macho manly eyes.
To respond to the question posed in the title of the thread, the answer is no. Nobody else thinks it looks feminine.

Seriously, is this thread for real?

Can someone's sense of masculinity be so brittle, or fragile, as to feel itself threatened by a (culturally constructed) identification with a specific set of colours?
Imagine reading this reply and thinking the OP is the “threatened” one. The only ones who seem to be getting emotional are those who disagree with me. I’m just stating an opinion.

These things look feminine to me. Maybe you know lots of men who want pink, and purple, and pastel green, and powder blue computers. More power to you if that’s the case.

Remember those G3 iBooks with all colors ?

still my fav iBook, have a Bondi Blue but ive always wanted keylime and will still buy one if I find on in decent condition assuming its not absurdly priced.
unfortunately these have risen in price the last few years, should have grabbed when the getting was good.

You clearly are missing the point! A piece of metal and plastic doesn’t have a gender, colours are colours, to apportion a gender to an innate object is an attempt to negatively associate the applied gender to a colour. Archaic and sexist!

This is so insane I don't even know what to say. The G3 iMac also had a similar color palette, 23 years ago, and not even then people suggested they were marketed for women.
those were deeper colors with stronger hues and a revelation in 1998
case in point
all other computers were not lite grey, black but a taupe-beige that was not supposed to appeal at all
those iMacs ran os9 and had their matching keyboard and mouse that was unique as well
no scuzie or floppy disk attachment but USB and cdRom and all in one unit, no separate monitor!
and a HUGE 4-6 GB hard drive!
no one cared and that took off several month slate in late 1999 were more colors were added, good candy-like colors.

I’m not missing anything. I expressed my opinion that these computers look feminine. The idea that this would make someone emotional is simply bizarre to me.

The bedroom I posted also appears feminine to my eyes. And I’d wager a solid 95% of the population would agree with me (regarding the bedroom at least).

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this. Everything in my home office is very rustic and dark. Having a pastel-colored computer would look so out of place. And regardless of what others say, yes, these iMacs will probably attract more women than men based purely on the aesthetic. I cannot believe they decided to skip a space gray option.

Ideally, though, I would have LOVED it if they had ditched the pastel colors on the chin/stand and made the entire thing one color with black bezels. A bright red iMac with black bezels would've been killer. And not just red... orange, yellow, green, blue...all of these would've looked amazing.

The Nano is a great example of what I'm talking about. We coulda had something like the 6th gen but instead we got the iMac version of the 7th-gen Nano.

When they showed the colors of the new iMacs in today's video/event presentation, I squealed.....OOOOH!!!! ORANGE!!!! My favorite color. All the way. Unfortunately the specs of the new iMacs are not what I really need and want so I'm passing on this particular new offering from Apple but nonetheless I'm definitely looking forward to seeing these cheery, bright colorful iMacs on display in an Apple store one day. After the year we've all just experienced around the world, isn't it rather nice to have some pretty colors to brighten up a day?

I'd put it at a above 50% chance its not shared by either gender cause its a show room or a Ikea mockup
if I was assured it was a real bedroom I'd assume its from a B&B

... these are really weird things to gamble on 🎲🤞😜

I agree it looks like a hotel room. But maybe it's from a feminine hotel eh?

Apparently “losing” the bet means you have to buy a <gasp> coloured iMac.

I'd say that just 3.7% of the population would agree with that statement. See, I also made up that statistic but I have a degree that says that I must know a lot about statistics, so we can call it an educated guess.

The definition of Feminine, is to liken something as womenly. Get your head out of wherever you can’t see the sun, and understand that the world has moved on from archaic stereotypes! It’s a colour. Accep5, and if you don’t like, don’t buy it!
