As a gay male, I've always been surrounded by nothing but women. I was raised by two women, I have two sisters, and all of my closest friends are female. I feel like I know women far better than I know men and I know that any of the many, many women in my life would agree that these computers (also the picture of the floral bedroom) would more easily appeal to a female demographic.

And while I am aware that there are men who like "girly" things and women who prefer "masculine" things, that is the exception and certainly not the norm.
But it’s really not that point. Pastels are softer colours, would be how it’s put, not; these aren’t male colours, women’s colours, huff! Whether a male or female would like them is irrelevant, what’s relevant is the negative portrayal of a human being on something so meaningless like a colour.

Pastel colors have traditionally been more closely associated with females. Whether that is good, bad, or indifferent is a different discussion.

The iMac G3 had different colors but with the exception of the "Flower Power" color (and maybe "Blue Dalmatian") none were really pastel, but rather were bolder colors that would generally be considered gender neutral according to traditional associations.

I am done having this discussion with you. You're just on a mission to be offended because someone had the audacity to have an opinion that doesn't perfectly align with your own.
Bye then. The last few years have open ended my eyes. As a white, privileged male, I have been shown how my rosy eyed view of the world was full of discrimination and institutional sexism and racism.
So no, I’m not offended, just because doesn’t agree with you, doesn’t mean they are angry, just hold a view that is different.

Pink was a colour first used by Italian designers for men. It was apparently used to soften the harsh industrial colours of grey and black.

I don't think it makes sense to call the new iMacs feminine in appearance, but I do think that with the new colors they'll appeal to a broader audience than the silver/black color scheme ever did.

I just wish they had kept one option the same silver/black colors as before or offered a new space gray option. All of my accessories are space gray and black, and I use the dark mode.

You are pretty clearly angry though. I mean, you’ve resorted to attacking people personally and emphasizing your anger with exclamation points... over an iMac.

By your own admission, you are privileged. Your words, not mine. So maybe sit this one out, not attack people, and don’t tell people what opinions they’re allowed to have.

Could you point us to some err... 'masculine looking' computers?
Well… Quantel made the 'Harry', the 'Henry' and 'Dylan' — and then a Harriet to even things out a bit. New England Digital made the Synclavier 9600 — the Mac II was just the interface between the MASCULINE mainframe and that big powerful keyboard. The meaty buttons on the keyboard are the same as those in the B52 bomber. A blue stripe on the top completes this unambiguous look. It's means business. :D

You equate someone being "girly" as a negative portrayal of a human being? How anti-LGBTQ of you. It boggles the mind that someone could be so openly sexist and condescending in this day and age.

Maybe it’s time for you to stop associating color with gender....

No, boys can like purple. And they can like any color of the iMac. Personally, my favorite color would be a grey or a very dark blue.

might have been a reasonable opinion, say, 40 years ago.
Looks like "popular" society has left some folks behind, eh?

Totally inappropriate comment. Who says what colours suits a gender.
Why are people getting offended? It’s not like he’s lying. Pastel/soft colors tend to be associated with femininity at least in western cultures. Colors can be associated with a gender, it would be delusional to think otherwise.

Don’t agree? Blame the brands/companies, not the OP.

I'm kinda worried that the only two answers to my request for examples of 'masculine' computers have been two 50 year old computers.

Where is this anger @Robospungo speaks of? If anything, @Madonepro is explaining a different viewpoint while being honest about his background. It's no different than others expressing their take in this thread. That includes the discussion on what size bed works best for a threesome. 🤷‍♀️
