$399 is the sweet spot where people who didn’t “need” the phone are buying it. If the new SE were $550, I don’t think you would see nearly this many people buying it just because they want to scratch the itch of buying new tech. I wonder if they will update this SE next year, or if it will remain unchanged for a few years like the original.

i think it will remain unchanged for 2 years!

Some say once you go OLED you merely can't go back.

Some say? I guess I’d be interested to know what kind of metric you’re referring to by some. There’s actually an active YouTube video that shows consumers couldn’t differentiate LCD versus OLED with side-by-side comparisons. Not to mention, PWM is an issue that other users experience as side effect, so I would wager that OLED really isn’t a selling point at all, but for those who only truly understand the differences of OLED and what to look for.

Solid point raised in respect of pwm.

Ordered my Iphone SE white 64gb yesterday, for only £393 using my civil service discount of 6%. Will be delivered in next few days, likely Monday. Looking forward to receiving it which is the first time i have brought a phone outright, rather than using a contract to subsidise the phone cost. I plan to use my SE as my daily driver to replace my 8 Plus (which im keeping as backup).

Ordered direct from Apple UK store, it originally said Arrives 21st May so I was shocked when it dispatched last night. Delivered about 4 hours ago!

thats wierd. i ordered it on May7th and its going to be delivered tomorrow lol

Ordered Black 128GB SE (paid in full) from Apple website on May 11, 2020. With expedited shipping was to arrive May 21 - May 26. Tracking info says being shipped from Shanghai, China. There's already a shipping exception on the tracking results today (May 14)...

I'm surprised things are still being shipped direct from China given the circumstances in the world...

...maybe I should've let them set up an AT&T SIM in advance instead of choosing to swap my current card over from my 8. Perhaps that would have shipped from a US warehouse a lot faster at the cost of AT&T activation fees.

I ordered the same and it came from Shanghai then quickly had delayed pop up on tracking. Stayed that way for a couple days then I ended up getting it almost a week earlier than expected. Maybe same for you🙂

I got mine on launch day. Traded-In my iPhone 8 in pristine condition for $170. This has turned out to be my WORST experience ever. Apple’s trade partner Phibio revised my value down to ZERO saying the screen had “lifted”. When I boxed the phone for shipping in the designated packaging, you could not tell the difference between my iPhone 8 & my brand new iphone SE. Either something happened during FedEx transit of Phobio damaged it on arrival.

I should have taken pictures B4 I sent it but I never had any problems before. Either way, I’ve contacted Apple, received photos of the damage which I can‘t really see all that well and rejected the offer of $0. I can’t wait to see the condition of the iPhone 8 when Phobio sends it back to me.

I am not inclined to ever do any trade-in business with Apple thru Phobio ever again If it doesn’t warrant it’s partner’s actions. Anyone else ever have such an issue? Any suggestions?

Update May 14,2020: Sent email to Tim Cook. His team followed up with me next day. Seems that there must have been a battery swelling issue in transit causing screen lift. Just unlucky timing. Apple agreed to honor the original trade value 😀👍🏻👍🏻👏!!!! This is why I've been Apple fan since 1984. Apple will always try to make it right.

Tim Cook has actually been known to respond to Apple‘s customer base in the past, as a matter fact, he’s even responded to a few forum members on this very website about questions or concerns with future products over the years. But in terms of him reading ‘every email‘ sent to him (Which I’m sure Would take a copious amount of time to read/reply,) he has a league of assistants/advisors that works directly under him that have access to his email and probably direct certain responses that could be handled by other executives in various departments at Apple or if it’s something that he feels necessary to reply to, As he has in the past.

After about 3 weeks I finally got my SE to replace my iPhone 7. Here were my first impressions:

-The screens are identical. As expected.
-The SE camera is noticeably better. I took some side by side comparison shots in medium indoor lighting and the SE's camera had much better light gathering, and it stayed sharp all around the edges. The iP7 pictures were softer all around and lost all detail in darker areas.
-The SE speakers sound at least 30% louder to my ears. This is a huge improvement.
-It's a lot faster, as expected, and doesn't get burning hot from doing simple things like using Safari.
-I know the battery isn't great compared to a flagship, but compared to the 3.5 year old battery in my iP7 it feels like it lasts forever.
-Unexpected: I tested the LTE speeds on both phones in the same location, using the same SIM card, and the SE was almost 2x as fast. Nice.

I would say this is exactly the improvement I wanted for $391. It's not going to totally change how I use my phone or anything but my phone is back to being a background item I don't have to think about vs. being a regular annoyance.

That's an excellent way to put it.

My iPhone 7 was a "need to charge at lunch time" and a "need a battery case for vacations" and a "oh $&*#, my phone with 100% charge suddenly shut down while I was texting and now it won't turn on again" annoyance.

Just checking in to say - this SE is great - it’s smooth, fast, responsive, fits in my pocket, handles everything with no lag at all, offers bezels to grip between thumb and forefinger if the mood takes me, has a battery life in excess of one day - all excellent. The only gripe for me is the headphone jack - and as I sometimes like to record audio from whatever app I’m using, I’m keeping my 6 too.
