Will you look at getting a Galaxy Note II

I will prob move from the Note to Note 2 when it comes to at&t. I've really enjoyed the Note. With my volleyball and soccer teams, we do a lot of road trips and the large screen makes it nice for game playing and Netflix watching, I use the stylus on a daily basis, and it fits easily in my pocket.

Debating here. I'm very much caught up in iOS but inside me there is a feeling that it be nice to change. But on the flip side I don't wont Android regret in a few months. So still unsure.

The old one was 1280x800, the new one is 1280x720.

If the perceived resolution of the old one is less, then it is not properly marketed.

I'm not too sure about PPI about taking into consideration the aspect ratio, they are both HD if you know what I mean. 16:9 = 1280x720 that is the same as 16:10 = 1280x800.

Then why offer a poll asking who was going to buy it? The answer would otherwise be an astounding yes in that case if this was only meant for people interested in the note 2.

Easy there...I've already commented regarding that. Look at my quote. No need to rub it in if i've admitted my mistake :)

Ahhh I see what you mean now  my bad. They are still answering the question, ie No :)

woops

Yes. The Note is my favorite Super Phone.

I only gave it up because I already heard II was 2-3 months away and wanted to try the S3. I'm selling the S3 when the new iPhone comes out and will buy Note II in October.

I am not talking about resolution in the PPI sense, but about resolution as number of pixels, as it is used in screen specs.

I say no only for the fact that I just got a Note and by the time I can upgrade late next year, there will be a bevy of options to choose from. Otherwise, I totally recommend it!

ok then so it is the same thing. I mean the resolution has not changed it was just amended according to the aspect ratio :)

I'm seriously considering it because of the screen size alone.
I really don't care about a pen / stylus on a phone.
But I do want to handle it first before deciding on it.
I do like the Note 1 and did buy one but had to return it as my unit was bad and the guy I bought it from did not have another one, but the couple of days I had it I really enjoyed that screen.

Definitely very tempted. It's either that or the SG3. I can't quite decide if I want the screen size of the Note2. Initially I thought I did, but I'm thinking it overlaps too much with the iPad. In either case, I need to save up a bit more money first.

It is not the same thing. The original note has more theoretical pixels in one direction.

OMG are you still trying to argue this point :D

RELATIVE to the ratio it is the same!!

Definitely not. The iPhone is just a few weeks away, and it's going to steal the show.

Just smile and wave at those who bought the Galaxy Note. Just smile and wave.

Sorry, but if all the rumours and leaked parts are what they show at the keynote then it's not even going to wow me, let-a-lone 'steal the show'. I'm expecting so little this year, they really have lost my 'smart phone of choice' now. Will be interesting to see whether they miraculously bring out something different to what we expect, but I don't think they will. A taller screen isn't going to cut it for me one little bit.

I don't even know what you try to mean.

It is NOT the same. 1280x720 vs 1280x800.

ok here goes:

1280x800 displayed on a 10:9 aspect ratio (that is pink+green area)

is the same thing as

1280x720 displayed on a 16:9 ratio (that is pink+purple area)

I'm not saying 1280x720 = 1280x800....but resolution for devices goes according to the aspect ratio of the screen.

1280x800 would not fit on the screen! so they reduct it to 720 and have a longer screen ala 16:9.

The length has the same pixels, even if it is longer.
The width has less pixels.

So, it has less real estate, hence worse.

Went to look at the current note and wasn't that impressed. Going to look again but the quality of the screen wasn't that good

1280 is standard on a 16:9

please suggest what they could have gone with?

Sorry I meant resolution. What resolution could they have gone with on the 16:9.

the 16:10 had its disadvantages hence the newer version.

I don't see what disadvantage 16:10 would have if they had kept the same size, which was perfect.

----------

I've heard the note 2 is rgb and not pen tile. That alone makes up for the lost pixels.

I know about the different technology.

I mean the previous one was better if the resolution was properly advertised.

You don't need full color resolution for full detail.

that depends on:

a. How big are your pockets
b. How big are you...ie how big are your trousers.

I wear pants that fit me and I want a phone that can be in my pocket and still be able to sit down.... Or am I just being picky lol
