Bestbuy Store just called me to confrimed my appointment time tomorrow for pick up .

yes , they have it overthere as of today
Interesting. So they're scheduling a time with you? I called BB and the person I talked to (offshore rep...couldn't talk to anybody in the store) said I can go get it when I get an email saying it's ready. I'm just upgrading, not adding a line or anything, so maybe that makes a difference.

OMG ! Bestbuy is real hit or miss for damn sure .
Preorder Gold and Graphite , and they said only gold available tomorrow , they dont have Graphite and dont know when will they get it .

What does your status show for the graphite on the best buy website?

Mine is still at the “ready for pickup on release date: tomorrow” lol

I had to redo my order (on Sunday) because I switched the phone I was trading in.

Hopefully, it actually does come Tuesday. :)

yep. BB always seems to be a crapshoot.

I have a change of plan and I won’t be able to pick up my phone until next Saturday. I have to call them and see.

Just got an email and text stating it's "not quite ready for pickup" and that they will message when it is with no advice as to when that would be. The order status on their website still says "Ready for Pickup on Release Date: Tomorrow" so one shouldn't believe that notice as accurate without an email stating it's ready and for you to come in. I placed my order this week on Tuesday afternoon and just hope it won't take a month before I get the notice they are ready ;).

I also ordered mine Tuesday, and just got the same email. I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be getting mine tomorrow.

10 PM local time and mine still says

Ready for Pickup on Release Date: Today

Pre-ordered, we'll let you know when your pre-order is ready.

No phone call either. Lol guess we shall see.

If I go to the website and try to place an order today, it now says pre-order for "release date Wednesday, 9/29" - so I think that that is when stores will receive new stock. I bet the order I placed on Tuesday this week will be fulfilled then and that there is no stock for launch day tomorrow or before next Wednesday. Interestingly you can get it shipped express and have it to your house by Monday of next week (but this complicates the trade-in so I won't be doing that) but if you select free shipping it will deliver for a next Wednesday arrival (which is the same day as the store stock refresh). I cancelled an Apple Store order because the Best Buy deal was better, so waiting most of a week for the savings is a bit frustrating but still worth it in the end.

I have the same question for Apple store. I ordered my wife and I iPhones for launch day in-srore pickup. I got an email about hers a 7:45pm last night it is ready for pickup in the window today, but it is 1:15am now and still no email for mine. They'd bettter not send another delayed email at the last minute like last year or I'll be pissed. What's the latest a ready for pickup email can come for launch day pickup?

I just got the same email and text. However, I was able to click "Make Pickup Changes" and change the pickup store to another one that shows as in stock - my original pickup store was not showing any stock and the date for pickup was next Wednesday, but there were a few other stores in my area listing as in stock.

It literally just changed haha. It now says:

Preparing for Pickup Today

We'll notify you when it's ready.

The green bar progressed. So I’ll take this as a good sign.

Oh that's wonderful! Alas my email doesn't have the "make pickup changes" button and checking directly on the website for the order (after logging in) I only have the option to cancel the order.

A few of my local stores say that they have stock for pick up tomorrow if you go to the iPhone product page. Some say they do not. So i guess it depends on the location/amount of preorders. So I’m guessing unlike Apple BB doesn’t set aside release day walk-in inventory, they will let people pre order their entire release day/first shipment stock.

You're absolutely right. So what I just did is:
1. Cancel my Best Buy order at a store location where if you order today, it'll be ready for pickup on 9/29.
2. After I got the cancellation email, placed a pick-up order at a location that has stock; the order page says that I will be able to pick it up today but to wait for another email before going to the store aka:
"Preparing for Pickup Today / We'll notify you when it's ready."

I am not sure if this will actually result in a phone in hand today, but it seems like a better bet since Best Buy's website seems to be showing realtime inventory now.

Glad I was able to help! Hope you get your phone tomorrow and maybe other folks whose preorder status seems to be in limbo can try the same thing. Let’s all update each other tomorrow lol.

I also had the same issue with my nearest Best Buy saying “Ready for Pickup on Release Day: Today” for a preorder placed on Tuesday. I just saw at another location 1 was in stock and jumped on it before canceling the original order. That order says “Preparing for Pickup Today”. Hoping my two orders don’t get crossed and cancelled out. I’m almost tempted to keep both and see which one comes through first. Anyone encounter this?
