Over 6 weeks now and still waiting... guess I should call them up again tomorrow...

Funny you should ask. I just got mine this morning. Reported it in the last week of August.

Edit: BTW, it was for the PB 12".

Yeah got mine this monday and placed my order on the day of announcement. Funny thing is, its still in the box i haven't even used it. My current battery works just fine.

You should really just drain your current battery and swap over and send it back. The "bad" batteries work fine until they catch on fire. :( The chances of that happening to you are very small, but not zero.

I applied for a new battery for my 12" PowerBook on August 25th and it arrived yesterday, October 12th. That's almost 7 weeks (41 days), fyi.

My new batteries arrived yesterday here in the UK as well, submitted the recall form on August 27th...cutting it tight, but here all the same!

They were dispatched on October 9th and got here October 12th.

Strangely enough though it says you need to ring up UPS (in my case, not sure if they are all UPS!) and organise a pickup of the old batteries saying follow the instructions inside the box...there are no instructions in the box!

All I had was the new return label to stick on it...the new battery, and an AppleCare paper booklet telling you to discharge, replace and ring up following the instructions in the box!

Anyone else in the UK had this as well? Which number do I ring?!

The number on the UPS website?;)

I got mine yesterday, same box contents.

The front of the AppleCare booklet says refer to page 11 for Denmark, Finland, Ireland, UK ;)

The number on that page (for UPS United Kingdom) is 08457 877877

It says something about not sealing the box "(with the enclosed adhesive tape)" until the carrier comes to collect it and has verified the content

(er, yeah, what enclosed adhesive tape??!! )

Mine arrived this morning, but it doesn't sit flush with my PowerBook casing like either my original battery or the new one which is now heading back to Apple. Can I complain about this at the Apple Store and get a different replacement?

It's not like it slightly sticks out. I had to really force the battery into place.

neither of my batteries has sat flush with the casing which annoys me to no end, but apple said "too bad, it's not a problem we fix" when i asked about it at the genius bar.

Why are you all getting your batteries replaced?
Because the old ones are part of that huge number of Sony batteries that have a tendency towards arson. Yep, Apple used them too.

It's worth a shot, I reckon. Say you're worried about damaging it.

How do I know if I have a recalled battery?

Just curious as my 17" pro seems to run pretty hot!

According to the Apple website, only 15" MacBook Pros have the defective batteries, so I think yours is safe on the bursting-into-flames front.

Ive got a MacBook, any danger of this for me?

I had that problem too on my white macbook, they replaced it with no questions asked :)

No, you're okay. The MacBook wasn't part of the recall. It was batteries for iBook G4s, 12" & 15" Alu PowerBooks and 15" MBPs that were deemed faulty.

I got my battery in the end of August. I ordered it the first day. It came, and I never put it into my MBP, because the old one worked fine. There were problems with the computer, and Apple ended up replacing it, so I ended up with 2 batteries :D. And, Apple has the old one back!

I just got the one of the 3 replacement batteries arrived. But, this replacement battery for my 12" PB is bent around the edge of the battery; so it does not fit in correctly to my PB. Applecare is now closed; so, I would need to wait for tomorrow.

I hope I can request the defect-free replacement battery through web site as I don't really have the time to make a telephone call during the normal business hours.

By the way, do I need to bring the box to Post Office? Or, can I just drop off the box at one of Post Office's drop off locations on the road?

when i got mine replaced, i filled out the form on the internet, got my replacement, and had the old one sent out (DHL courier service) within 24 hours. I got wind of the recall way before most people though, and it came before most of the huge media frenzy about the exploding batteries.
