I have the same issue as others have stated. Open mail app, show blank screen (Screenshot attached). 50/50 the mail will load after 10-30 seconds or will crash back to Home Screen. 2nd gen 11” iPad Pro running 15.2. No issues using Outlook, mail comes in instantly. I had deleted and recreated all my email accounts (5) and it seemed to help for the first day but problem came back in force soon after. Only using ~75 GB of 256GB on device so space isn’t an issue methinks. Hope Apple sorts this soon, a real PITA.

Wow, am I glad I found this post. Since the upgrade to iPadOS 15 I’ve been feeling really alone in this issue. I searched a lot online, but somehow missed this post until now. I have the exact same issue.
For what it’s worth, I will share my experience with Apple Support regarding this issue here. I had an Apple engineer with whom I could share my screen, so he could see the issue for himself. He never saw anything like this, he said. We first deleted the Mail app, restarted the iPad and installed the Mail app again. No dice, still crashing. Then, on request of Apple Support, I wiped the iPad completely, to start from scratch, as if I had bought a new iPad. After this, I only configured the e-mail account. And everything went fine, the crashes were completely gone. Hence, concluded Apple Support, the issue is not iPadOS related, but there must be one of the apps I have installed that’s causing the crashing. And he left me with a ‘Good luck!’.
Since I didn’t want to download and (especially) configure everything again, I restored the latest backup of my iPad; and, of course, the Mail issue was back. I’ve been using the Gmail app since then. But I really hate it and would like to be able to use Apple Mail, as I’ve been doing since 2010.

I’ve had zero response to my submissions of the issue through the beta program. I jumped off the beta and just updated to the latest 15.3 release and the Mail app crashing happened immediately. There is definitely something wrong, but it must be very specific to only be effecting a handful of people. I’m not willing to wipe and restore to see if it fixes it, given they’ve clearly done nothing to address the issue.

My mail app regularly crashes (black screen then gone) on occasionally sending reply emails… only happens on my iPad Pro with the keyboard… not on phone, nor Mac Pro… not sure how to uninstall the mail app. Was hoping that each update would fix it, but no joy… would love to hear what actually fixes this for someone.

I just installed 15.3.1 and it still has the problem.

Oh, what a bummer. The largest computer company in the world can’t fix a problem that was introduced only few months ago new, on only one of their device (iPad). Shame!

Have been experimenting to see what causes the crashes… I realized I have been using the keyboard with the iPad. I tried doing email without the keyboard and only the screen. Did not experience any crashes. I will continue to test this theory. — I hope someone from Apple reads this stuff and can research this possible connection/cause of the crashes.

I believe the keyboard for the iPad Pro doesn't have "rollover" capability. that causes the mail program to loose the first letters of the typed input and then crashes... just a theory.

I'm seeing the same thing @Rickgthau. Everything up-to-date. If I don't use the keyboard at all (even though it's still connected) it works fine. As soon as I use the keyboard at all to type, it fails within 2 or 3 emails.

What kind of keyboard are you using? Curious if it's related to the keyboard, if it'd happen with any/all keyboards.

GF and I have the same iPad Pro 10.5. Mine is fine but hers crashes upon opening. It’s become so bad she had to use her iPhone to retrieve or send email and won’t update to to latest iOS on her phone in fear it will do the same there. Granted, she has a very backed up email account, but it’s reassuring to know she’s not the only one, sadly.

Updated to 15.4 - problem still exists… can’t tell if it’s more or less, but definitely experienced the same crashing.

I have the same problem as well but only the iPad I used for work connected to a Outlook account. My personal iPad that I use with my iCloud email account doesn't have the issue. Both running 15.4

does one have a keyboard and the other not??? I have noticed a huge difference with and without the keyboard.

Having the same issue for quite some time now. I had offloaded and reinstalled my email and that fixed it for a couple days. Now that does nothing as a fix and I havent gotten as far as to delete all my emails and start over. I am stuck checking email on my phone…. (android)

I use the same keyboard with both. I'll have to try without the keyboard and see if that makes a difference

I don’t have a keyboard. I’ve done all of the suggestions including deleting the account and reinstalling. This isn’t a small problem! Come on apple!
