Well, as of now, I can't say that I switch between the two... But I had both up until last week and my iPhone barely got used. I only used it to download iTunes songs that were exclusive to iTunes so far. Now, I will just have to use my MacBook for that. I got so used to the bigger screen that I stopped picking up my iPhone.

I have had both Android and Apple phones together. As superb as the iPhones were (And they were IMHO) I just simply enjoy the Android experience better. I found that in the iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S they were simply too good, around the 4S to iPhone 5 time Android became more fluid and less buggy/jerky. I had to try for myself because the comments on here from Apple users was completely different from the experience I was to get once I moved to Android (I had a Galaxy S3 or 4 can't remember which at the same time as I had an iP5 and enjoyed the Galaxy more so sold the iPhone.)

I have a 5s and an LG G3 right now. Soon I'm going to sell the 5s to get some cash to get my wife the 6 when it's released. If the 5.5" 6 is real I'll get that one a few months after it's released.

Same here. Have 5s and lg g3.

I generally carry two phones the past 7 years always.

Have had first android g1 to lastest G3 (few nexus in between and galaxies also).

Have all the iPhones as well.

I like certain aspects of both operating systems.

Honestly iPhone was way ahead of the game back in 2007.

Android 1.0 was a work in progress.

In my opinion. Android caught up to iOS with android 4.0.

Since than. You are essentially splitting hairs comparing android to iOS.

iPhone 5s - daily driver
Moto G - backup
Xperia Ray - alarm clock :p
countless other Androids for various stuff (mostly tinkering)

The family uses iOS devices. My mom frequently uses her iPad instead of her iPhone to send me messages or call me via FaceTime so I really have no choice but to use the iPhone as my daily driver. I reckon Continuity in iOS 8 will just reinforce that dependency. That said, I love playing with Android. :p

I've had 2 Android and 2 iPhones. Never used both during the same period of time. I always went back to iOS because of the integration with my other iOS devices. Also I needed to be able to facetime with my family. And there were too many apps I was using on iOS that were not on Google Play. There are a handful of Android features I miss though. Still, iOS has the edge on the majority of factors that are most important to myself.

I've got the devices listed below. The only ones that are always in daily use are the 5S, which I use for work, and the iPad rMini. Other than that, I switch between the Nexus 5 and iPhone 5C and use the iPad Air and Kindle Fire from time to time. Looking to replace the Lumia 520 I have with a 635 and would roll that into the mix as well.

I use an iPad and a Nexus 5 like some of the previous posters. I found this combination to be perfect for my use.

Skype. That was the first app I installed right away.

Meh, last time I installed Skype, it was a buggy POS that crashed frequently. Maybe things have improved since then but since iMessage/FaceTime is working pretty well for us so I think I'd just skip the hassle of creating a Skype/Microsoft account for each family member and testing if Skype will work just as well. Besides, Continuity on iOS 8 is pretty much what I've wished for all along (or at least ever since 2008). Not much sense looking into alternatives now until Google implements something similar.

IMO cross platform continuity is basically already in android via pushbullet and regular old email drafts. Along with your text via PC app of choice

iOS's continuity grinds my gears because I will never be invested in one single platform. My workplace cannot go Mac

If you are referring to iMessage / FaceTime, I hear you.. I wish my phone had it, but I value other features over it.

I have an iPhone 5S for work (running iOS 8) and a Nexus 5 & iPad mini as my personal devices.

The Nexus definitely gets the most use but only because it's my personal phone, just as my iPhone 5 got used a lot more than my 5S before I switched. Typically the iPhone is just used for responding to email, handling business calls and accessing Active Directory through Citrix Receiver. The Nexus has all of my social stuff, Reddit, games, etc loaded on it.

Switching between the two doesn't feel too strange though I still don't think Android operates as smoothly as iOS.

I have a Galaxy S3 as my personal phone. My work phone is an iPhone 5S (company issued). Some people use a single phone for both work and personal. I like keeping the two separate.

This! I've never understood how people can have only one phone when a company issue one is provided. I've seen way too many disciplinary situations result from mixing ones private and business lives.

But that "cross platform continuity" requires various apps installed and multiple accounts set up for each user.

Would it be easier if I told my wife that she needed to communicate with me via Hangouts only? Sure - it'd be easier for me.....but since she isn't a tech savvy person (nor does she care), I'm just asking her to upset her daily routine.

Apple's Continuity features may bug those who want to be in everything, but for those of us who really like the ease of the ecosystem, there's nothing that can compare. I've said it many times on here - one of the main reasons I stay firmly rooted in the Apple ecosystem has to do with those I communicate with. My family is all Apple, my friends are mostly Apple. When it comes right down to it....its just easier to use an iPhone in my case.

But obviously, as my signature shows, I don't mind "roughing" it to stay in various platforms. :)

Hey having it actually work for me means I dont mind that it requires multiple apps. IOS continuity just flat out won't work for me since I use a windows PC and that can't change. :(

It looks great I agree, but I'm just bitter since I would only get iPhone iPad integration when the key is really the Mac.

Ya I understand. Continuity is a big nod to those who already have a Mac.

And don't think it isn't also a ploy to get more people to buy into the Mac. The rate the PC industry is declining, there needs to be some cool, dare I say innovative features that will drive growth.

I'm not saying a bunch of people are going to go out and buy a Mac. But you gotta think the ecosystem, which was already a reason to buy Apple, has become even MORE compelling.

I'm on a Windows PC at work as well.....I hated it long before continuity came along....

Depends on your needs of course. If facetime is enough, then there is no point to replace it. But like me, many of my friends use windows or androids, so facetime is actually useless for me. I like to use "one for all" rather than couple differend apps.

If you switch between iOS and Android, I guess you just have to keep toggling on/off iMessage... Too bad iTunes isn't on Android though.

My parents and brother all prefer the iPhone and iPad and that's really all I'm concerned with. Besides, the key point of iMessage and FaceTime for my parents is integration and ease of use. A 3rd party app kinda defeats the purpose. I actually setup Skype on the iPad for one of my aunts. She basically just used it once and never bothered with it again. Meanwhile, she uses FaceTime all the time and she never once asked me for help with it. :p

As for my friends, we use Facebook Messenger. :)

Referring to the SMS and phone call handoff. I've tried something similar using Google Voice (back when they had an API for others to access their network) but the implementation in iOS8 Continuity is looking to be more polished. :)

Have phones from all three platforms. The only one I use daily is the Moto X. The rest sit in drawers or on my nightstand as an alarm or for facetime.

It sounds that you live rounded by ios-members, so there is no need to change that. ios/osx isnt popular here in Europe, so I prefer apps working cross-OS, like skype does. So this is the point, if you can live with it, you dont need o change it. But when you said that you are forced to use iphone because your family member uses ipad, I gave you a hint using skype instead of facetime. But if you dont like skype or any other than Facetime/iMessage/iWhatever then you dont have much other choices than use iphone.

Yeah. I prefer to keep my work and personal life as separate as possible. I know people in my company who just uses their company issued phone for both work and personal. It is allowed. Before smartphones, I didn't see much issue. With the modern era of smartphones, I would rather not be bothered by work related notifications when not working or personal notifications while working.

Facetime is rather limited in that it only works on iOS devices. I use Google Hangouts as I am able to use it to make video calls to more people. iOS devices does not have a large enough reach for me.

Ironically, my wife had some difficulties with Facetime trying to make video calls to family overseas. They all had iOS devices. We eventually had to install Hangouts and use that instead. It worked out better because we had a multiparty video call which I was able to participate in as well as I have an Android phone.

I don't - just pop my sim card into the Android or iPhone depending on what I wanna do. Never had any problem with that.

I used it as an excuse to try out Android :)

I love the LG G3 (hardware) and every time I play with it or look at it I am so tempted to try it out. But I absolutely cannot stand Android OS at all, so I always stop myself. but it sure is a nice looking phone.

I currently have a Oneplus One and an iPhone 5, but I stopped switching back to the iPhone when the Nexus 4 came out. It was a solid phone and I haven't gone back since, but still keep the iPhone just in case :)
