It sounds that you live rounded by ios-members, so there is no need to change that. ios/osx isnt popular here in Europe, so I prefer apps working cross-OS, like skype does. So this is the point, if you can live with it, you dont need o change it. But when you said that you are forced to use iphone because your family member uses ipad, I gave you a hint using skype instead of facetime. But if you dont like skype or any other than Facetime/iMessage/iWhatever then you dont have much other choices than use iphone.
Even if I used Skype, it's kinda pointless if family members I need to contact don't want to use it. I know my parents. I gave them Android before and they ended up not using it and giving it back to me because it confused them. To be honest, I didn't want to give them iPhones because I didn't want the family to be locked into Apple's ecosystem. Alas, I was getting tired of transferring their contacts in batches via SIM card from dumbphone to dumbphone so I eventually caved and gave them iPhones. It's been fairly smooth sailing since and features like iMessage makes it easier for us to actually contact each other.

Facetime is rather limited in that it only works on iOS devices. I use Google Hangouts as I am able to use it to make video calls to more people. iOS devices does not have a large enough reach for me.
So far, I'm liking Hangouts. Alas, very few people I know actually use it. We rarely use FaceTime for video calls but FaceTime audio has pretty much replaced most of our cellphone calls. We're more likely to have the iPad on-hand while the iPhone is frequently left on silent/vibrate, unattended and charging in another room or something. One reason I'm really excited about Continuity. On iOS 8, I'll be able to get even regular calls and SMS on the iPad. :p

My personal phone is an SE, my work phone is a Galaxy S6 edge. I love the screen of the S6 compared to the SE but the battery life is pretty bad it requires at daily restarts otherwise it gets sluggish. I hear good things about touchwiz on the S7 and Note 7 which really tickles my fancy but I have 3 mac computers and really love airdrop , handoff and txtingfrom my laptop

I have the 6S plus and the Samsung galaxy S7 edge. I'm. Debating wether to sell both and get the note 7. I may just keep both. I might miss ios and I'll break up my ecosystem (iPhone, Apple watch, ipad air 2, macbook, Apple TV) if I do. I'm not really feeling any of the Android smart watches. I want to keep my Apple watch. However the iPhone 7 doesn't sound worth the upgrade and I really like the edge and I've only had it a few weeks so it seems very extravagant to move onto the note already lol

I could get the note and keep my 6S plus but I think the note would be wasted if it wasn't my daily driver. It's nice having both OS's.

Well as long as this thread has been resurrected I may as well jump in.

Right now I'm juggling three devices. The iPhone SE (bought directly from Apple with no sim and no carrier affiliation) now running as my daily driver with the AT&T sim in it with my usual phone number. The IPhone 6S Plus that I bought from AT&T via Next (the device I stole the sim from) And my new Note 7 from AT&T with a new phone sim and number.

My SE is on an unlimited grandfathered data plan specific to iPhones. If I ever upgrade to anything other than an iPhone on it, I'm told by my husband we lose the unlimited plan on it. But he needs to confirm that.

I did not do so well carrying around the iPhone 6S Plus as my daily driver. It's too big. But it makes a great pocket computer. However it's missing the extra functionality I've always wanted in a pocket computer that I had back in Palm pilot and Pocket PC days. The Note 7 gives me that. I'm smitten.

I am going to repurpose the 6S Plus as a Live Photo Album for all of the Live Photo pics and videos taken on my SE. All the data planning and lifestyle management functions I have on it will be set up on the Note 7.

iPhone 7 has no headphone jack. That's a big annoyance for me right now. I have no plans to upgrade either of my iPhones or my Note 7 to it at the present time.

Since nobody knows how that iPhone 7 looks or what it has it's kinda ignorant and stupid to make any informed decision.

Well we do though, as history has shown us leaks at this stage aren't wrong. What we don't know is what else the phone will bring in terms of features.

You really think Apple are going to shock the world and have the phone look completely different from all the leaks? That would be great but would be the biggest shock in the tech world if they did.

What i think is irrelevant. What is relevant is people taking speculations and even using them in current tense (for example someone wrote "iPhone 7 has no headphone jack") it might, you don't know. There is no proof, yet people talk as if everything they saw is true.

There are plenty of very good looking iPhone fakes in china and making some iPhone lookalike is not that hard. All you have to do is post few pictures, make few models and people get into heated discussions.
Of course it might be all true, but i don't know, nor do i have evidence to support it. I mean real evidence. A smoking gun. I haven't seen that.

Well least we won't have long to wait. Hopefully the 7 is better than what people are expecting. Be a nice surprise

Apples days of shocking the world with any design choices are long gone.

This is not fashion week in Paris.

If you're referring to my comment, please note that I said "at present time." I am sneaky that way. It comes from having to outmaneuver kids--never state anything in absolutes, because circumstances do change and kids are all aspiring lawyers and will try to hold you to the letter of the law so they can get around the spirit of the law. ;)

Yes, stating it has no headphone jack as fact was careless of me.
I don't blame you for being annoyed by that.

Right, because Apple doesn't sell phones on the verge of anorexia for the sake of appealing to fashionable consumers.

Most reasonable people have come to the conclusion that the headphone jack is gone. The evidence to come to this conclusion is simply overwhelming and is widely reported by just about every news source on the planet by now.

That may be true about every outlet reporting the same thing, however, it's not official until it's official.

Okay well in that case my spider sense is tingling. So it is official in my world. You can come back in a month and thank me for the insider tip. I hope you don't dabble in stocks if you have a difficult time understanding what is clearly obvious.

Do you interchange between them? Ie Use one of them for awhile, then the other for awhile? Or so you primarily use one device such as your iPhone and then use a tablet perhaps for Android play?

I was issued an iPhone for work but never really use it, instead I use a Nexus 6P, OnePlus 3 and NextBit Robin. One for private, work, the OnePlus 3 though is my work computer, all three are running the same version of Android, CyanogenMod 13.1. The iPhone is simply missing to many of the features I require to be productive. I.e. full multitasking, file system, the ability to mount my firms NAS as a local folder in which all apps can access, the same with my cloud services. The ability to connnect a monitor, mouse and keyboard to use my phone as a desktop computer, works extremely well by the way, I use Citrix to display applications. As we are issue dumb terminals anyway, it's actually a step up by using my phone. I can run multiple remote terminals in the background, which is an aboslute must, basically I cannot use a system that pauses my processes when running in the background as iOS does. This is so important to me that I don't even look at the iPhone when I go phone shopping. How people can get by without full multitasking is beyond me.

I have a 16GB :)mad:) iPhone 6s from work and a 32GB Nexus 5X. Currently the 6s is my main phone as it connects to my Apple Watch which I prefer to the LG G Watch I also have. However, the continuous struggle with 16GB storage as well as missing mobile payments and voice control that actually works is making me consider if I could just tolerate the 5X's more sluggish performance in exchange for the missing features. Then again, something like OnePlus 3 could also be an option as I could put both of my SIMs into one phone and be done with it without sacrificing too much on e.g. camera quality.

I appreciate the concern, but I have pros managing my portfolios. Hopefully you didn't see enron or madoff as viable.
