Anyone planning on getting a Mac Mini anytime soon (before the M2)?

For most people the jump from M1 to M2 won’t make much of a difference. The exceptions being those who need 24GB of RAM or better ProRes support. The jump to the M2 Pro is more substantial but overkill for most users. Enjoy your mini! I bought mine this last December and it truly is an awesome machine, even after the launch of the M2 version.

The M2 Mac mini has better dual monitor support than M1. (M2 Pro is even better for monitor support, and has extra ports.)

I think that the M2 is identical to the M1 in this regard as both support two displays. I think the upgraded HDMI port is only on the new MacBook Pros.

No. M2 supports two USB-C displays. M1 does not. This has been a common complaint about M1. To get two displays on the M1 Mac mini, one of them must be HDMI.

Ah, I missed that part. I’ve been using dual displays on an M1 mini since day one, but as you say that used the HDMI port.

Bought an M1 Mac Mini six months ago, to replace an early 2009 incarnation. It was what I wanted then, and reckon it should be good to the end of the decade, maybe beyond. Nothing about the M2 is a significant upgrade for my needs. No regrets.
