After printing out a template of the 6 Plus, I'm out. It's not that it's too big to use comfortably, but I just don't want to carry around a phone that's that big every day for 2 years. So, no i6+ or Note 4 for me...

I'm going with the 2014 Moto X.

It's a phablet. Not a phone.

It's a tiny tablet, in my opinion. Everything but the height is just about perfect, but with the touch ID they can only shorten the top bezel so much before it's so unbalanced it looks like some ugly duckling counterfeit.

The iPhone 6 and Plus interest me ZERO. Just more of the same again on a larger low res screen.

The Note 4 is a far superior phone to the 6 Plus, and not just hardware wise, but with the Stylus and multi window, etc... The Note 4 was just awarded the top display ever in a smartphone.

I also think for smaller phones, the HTC One M8 'GPE' version is the best phone out in 2014.

And with Material Design coming to Android 5.0 L release, I think the Android OS will look better and cooler than ever.

Does anyone know if iOS 8 allows apps like google play music to have access to music already on the device ?

Specs are one thing but user experience is another for me. I'm also tired of flashing ROMs just to get rid of carrier bloat and other junk software I don't want.

I'm going back to the iPhone 6 but I will be using it alongside a Moto X (2013). I'm trying really hard to resist buying a new unlocked Moto X (2014) though. I'll probably wait for the Nexus 6 before I look to the Moto X.

Interesting responses. Personally i feel 2014 has been a very forgettable year in terms of hardware innovation or just performance increase in general across all three major platforms.

On the android side of things we've seen QHD displays and little else to differentiate between this years and last years models. Admittedly the iPhone 6/6+ specs are not much to write home about in comparison to current flagship Android phones, but i feel its made a bigger jump from its predecessor with the increase in screen size being its biggest selling point.

Other than the now viable screen size and improvements in iOS 8, i think the other major thing pushing me to the iPhone at this point is the fact we know exactly whats coming round the corner for flagship Androids in 2015 (64bit hex and octa-core SoC's).

Yep, I am.

I've been on Android since the original Moto Droid, but I'll be giving the i6+ a test run when my upgrade comes through in November. If I like it, I'll keep it...if not, I'll return it and pick up the new Moto X.

For me i'm just gonna wait a month and see what people are saying about performance. I don't browse much on my phone atleast not in the way i'll do on a tablet, laptop or desktop so things like tab reloading wont bother me as much.

I may be mistaken but i'm sure iOS already allows this. Atleast for music and photos anyway.

Access to the music storage locally and accessed via music.app (iPhone's native music app)--no. You can download and locally store music from Google Play Music, just cannot access any music you have transferred to the device from iTunes.

This wouldn't be my first iPhone, but I am changing back to the iPhone 6 at some point.

I'm in no rush, but I am going back. Till then I have my Samsung S5.

Thanks... Yeah, looks like that's killed iPhone 6. I thought iOS 8 being more 'open' would allow third party apps like GPM to access files on the device too.

Curious why you'd want this MRU--not necessarily why you'd like third party apps to have access to local stored music as it's understandable if one prefers a different music app, but rather why GPM? I actually find the user interface and layout of GPM to be less than stellar.

I have an GPM - All Access Subscription basically, and really don't like the music app on the iPhones / iPads after they changed to iOS 7. Think it's rather bland and not keen on the way it grids out albums etc...

I'm considering going back to the iPhone 6 or 6+. I've been looking forward to the Moto X+1 but they let me down with the camera and battery again.

I doubt the Nexus 6 will have a great camera/battery either, the Nexus devices never do.

I wanted to get a Sony Xperia Z3 but being located in the US, I'm most likely out of luck as well (I don't want to import and pay with Paypal).

So, with the reviews all saying the new iPhones have exceptional battery and camera, I'm thinking I will buy one...

The 5s was my first iPhone. The screen was too small and it had mediocre battery life. I ordered a 6, if I don't like it I guess I will try the Note 4 next.

Understood, all about preferences. Though are you sure you have that correct? I also use GPM All Access and on my iDevices, albums are shown in a vertical list in the music app while on GPM, the albums are in a grid.

Yeah in GPM they are nice grids, but in iOS Music player they are more of a grid/list style layout and I prefer the way GPM does it. :)

Thinking of going for a galaxy alpha at this stage. Got offered brand new one for €540 (€260 cheaper than a 64gb iPhone 6).

Lol I have the opposite problem, I really prefer the iOS music app and can't find anything on Android that really makes me happy :p The iOS music app with quick-access EQ settings would be the shiz for me (still can't believe you have to go settings menu spelunking to accomplish this in iOS).

The Alpha looks pretty sweet. BTW why do you always have to make us jelly with these sweet deals you're getting, are you friends with Santa or something??

The ios music app used to the best. I think ios7 ruined it. I much prefer the player pro app now.

I'll give you the first one and the last one, but the 6's display IS the worst in its price range.

 Oh boy......

Do you know ANYTHING about displays? What do you base this "fact" on?

(please say resolution, please say resolution, please say resolution)

GPM on the iPhone 5s is pretty bad. I have all my music there and the best interface I could find was a 3rd party option (gMusic2) . It's actually a little better than the Android version of Google Play Music, but that's just my opinion.

I'll hold off on judging the 6 plus until I've seen it in the flesh. However the display on the 6 is disappointing.
