Yes i did get the Apple care just as an insurance.
I purchased it for a previous Imac that i had and i had a problem with the built in card reader and i took it into the Apple store in Milton Keynes (Local for me as only 30 minutes away) and it turned out to be an issue but it was attached to the Logic board so they replaced the board which would have cost me a bit if I hadn’t got the Apple care so after that i have always purchased it on my iPhones and iPads and iMacs.

You will benefit from the 16GB RAM in the future and to my mind can only benefit the Imac from the start and it could be an expensive regret as you wont be able to upgrade in the future.

I think Apple give a bit of discount on Black Friday via gift vouchers for the store.

Just been looking at 27”, wouldn’t get current Intel ones, but rumours about the new ones coming.

They are saying it will have M1 pro/max and start with 16Gb RAM and 512Gb SSD and start at $2000, about £1500, maybe plus tax.

Just got me wondering, normally wouldn’t be interested in the 27” version but this maybe much cheaper, or around same price, as the 24” M1 16Gb RAM, 512Gb SSD is £1849.

For comparison the current base spec 27” starts at £1799.

Yes i have seen it on here but i wouldn't mind betting they will work out a good bit dearer and also its a 512gb Hd which is pretty standard unless you don't store much on the HD itself i suppose. I use external HD's for my photography images but still like to have a good amount of HD capacity as well. Personal preferences i suppose

Well update, sent off my old iMac to MacBack, still had original box and outer box so not sure what they do if don’t.

DPD picked up on Wed morning, just been paid what quote said now (Fri), used a code online easy search.

So all in not a bad transaction really, sorry to see it go as in perfect condition, but as was old don’t think would have got much more really. Got about £100 more than would with Apple trade in, so worth it really.

Putting it toward a new 24” iMac I think….or wait for a newer one…. @adeC1 how is your iMac going?

My new Imac isn’t delivered until 16-23 November so I’m still in the waiting process.
That was a quick turnaround for your transaction and glad to hear all went well with it.

I will more than likely go with the quotation with MacBuyBack once i have the new one up and running.

Very quick yes, have to be pleased, although it was in immaculate condition, but looking on eBay it’s around all they are going with, and the pain with eBay wasn’t worth it.

Ah ok, yeh I’m keeping an eye on delivery times and I’m getting a bit tight now for before Xmas even, basically now a month.

MacBuyBack only had on their website iMac from 2013 so co up don’t get a quote.

Just been looking at my MBP price, it’s dropped £1000 from what I bought to trade in now, so not sure if worth it to get new iMac now….still has a year AC+ on as well.

I have bought a lot of Mac stuff from Jigsaw24 in UK.
They are an authorised reseller, and usually have all different builds in stock for next day delivery, if it gets too close to Xmas for an Apple delivery......;)

edit: it looks like only the base 24" in stock though, all others are on order from Apple.
(I know they have all different builds of M1 mini)

Yes i thought about EBay but too much hassle and after all of the fees are taken out etc its hardly worth it.

Maybe it will benefit you keeping the MBP for a while if your going to lose a lot on it and wait until next year and see how the new IMacs are priced (Mega money i would guess)

Can you transfer the Applecare to a different machine ?

My 27” Imac is in immaculate condition so whoever has it will be getting a great machine.

Yeh eBay was a no for me, partly as the P+P would be really expensive.

I should really keep my MBP but I just don’t use it, literally used about 20 times, never been out of house. If sell it’s immaculate. I think I’d use a iMac more as used to use it a lot.

Not sure on transferring to another Mac, think you can transfer to a new owner though, and still has 11 months left so better to sell now I think, as one with warranty is a better selling point. It’s just to lose £1000 on it, barely used is a bit of a pill to swallow.

That iMac is still calling though….

Lol sounds like you have made your mind up about the Imac so you may as well sell the MBP while you can make some money on it before it depreciates even more even though its hardly used.
That is the trouble nowadays when selling tech stuff.

I have had the same with my camera gear as i have changed to a Canon R6 mirrorless system from a Canon DSLR 5DMKIV and decided to sell the DSLR and EF lenses and what i was offered for trade in or sale was a fraction of the original price even though everything was like new condition and not really that old

Yeh never a good time, and my thinking is I’m not using it so may as well sell now to get some resale. Only going to drop and drop, and think it has anyway because of M1 Apple silicon now, most want AS now rather than Intel.

Trying to hang on to see what Black Friday brings, but if I want before Xmas it’s getting close now for comfort!

Let me know what think when yours comes, your going from a 27” to 24” as well, that just because it’s all that is available, as in AS, not too bothered about the screen size reduction?

MacBack quote for iMac 24" M1 (2021) / M1 8-Core 8-Core GPU / 16GB / 512GB SSD / GRADE A / With original packaging £905 so don’t think my old 2012 iMac did too bad at £225!

Yes will do and hopefully no regrets.
I'm hoping that it will be a minimal difference between the screens.
I had a good look at one in the Apple store in MK and was really impressed with it straight away and it did make my mind up for me.
I use Photoshop and Lightroom for my image processing (No video) and a couple of other Apps so i cant see any problem there so it will just be a case of getting used to the screen which i'm sure will be fine after a while.

I will keep you posted on how it goes or maybe even have a new M1 Imac for sale lol.

I just tried to sell them my old 6th gen iPad (128GB, wifi + cellular). It looked perfect to me and I was offered £160 in Grade A condition. However, they spotted a crack in the plastic at the top of the rear case and reduced it to Grade D and, hence, the offer to £35 - ouch! How severe a problem it really is, I don't know as it seems to work OK. I've started another thread asking for advice in the iPad forum.

I'm looking in to the possibility of a repair, otherwise I'll just put it on eBay as it is and see what I get for it.

However, the process was very simple and when I declined their offer, there was no quibble and they shipped it right back at no cost to me. I guess I'll try again with my old MacBook Pro and report back in due course (I've still got to clean it out and prep it for sale)

I checked with a local repair shop and they agreed that the fault would prevent them taking it in, eg, part-exchange, so I can't criticise MacBack on that count. They said a repair would be uneconomical as the plastic bit can't just be replaced without the whole rear chassis.

I have just upgraded to a 16” MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip so wanted to trade in my 2017 15” MacBook Pro 512GB. I did look after my 2017 MBP very carefully, ensuring that it was in a protective case so it was pretty much in As New Condition when I sent it back, in its original box with all of the original accessories and even wrappers around the laptop. I was quoted £700 as a trade in price. I posted it from my local Post Office using the postage sticker they sent me. They took about 5 working days to inspect the computer and then transferred £700 into my bank account, without any fuss. All I need to do now is find a similarly protective case for my 2021 MBP, look after it very carefully for the next 4 or 5 years and hopefully it will also attract a good trade in value. I did obtain quotes from a number of other sources but MacBack offered the most and were a pleasure to deal with. Needless to say, I have no connection with the company other than being a satisfied customer.

Yes. I did try another company first, Cash4Mac, who provided an automatic quote online but then contacted me to say that they had too many MacBooks in stock and were concerned about the effect of the new M1 chips on pricing.

MacBuyBack were very easy to deal with. I obtained a quote on 8/11, they sent me a Parcelforce label the same day, I posted it off the following day and received confirmation it had arrived on 11/11. On 18/11, they paid me the amount quoted in full.

An update regarding MacBuyBack.
I have just received the quoted payment amount in my bank account.
DPD collected the package (IMacs have to be collected) on Friday 19- 11 and it was delivered on Monday 22-11
I was informed they had received it and it would take up to five working days for the Imac to be tested etc.
I have received an Email this morning to say the money has been paid into my account. Which is smack on the five days quoted.

I would highly recommend them if you are thinking of selling your Imac etc.

Need to sell my MBP now but the quote had from MacBack has plummeted unfortunately.

Apart from MacBuyBack where else are people (in UK) trying please?

@adeC1. How your new M1 iMac?

The new Imac is brilliant and no regrets whatsoever.
I have been doing a lot of photo editing with PS and some of the Topaz plugins etc and no problems at all.
Even coming down from the larger Imac 27 screen has been really easy.
I would still recommend the memory upgrade mainly as a bit of future proofing. I am intending to keep this machine for a good while as it certainly suits my needs.
I could have waited until next year for the so called new 27“ imac but to be honest the 24 is all i need.
I bought myself a Caldigit TB dock so i can have any of my external HD’s hooked up to it.

I would certainly recommend the M1 24”

A shame you cant sell you MBP to MacBuyBack as the were brilliant regarding my 27”

Regards
