The new Imac is brilliant and no regrets whatsoever.
I have been doing a lot of photo editing with PS and some of the Topaz plugins etc and no problems at all.
Even coming down from the larger Imac 27 screen has been really easy.
I would still recommend the memory upgrade mainly as a bit of future proofing. I am intending to keep this machine for a good while as it certainly suits my needs.
I could have waited until next year for the so called new 27“ imac but to be honest the 24 is all i need.
I bought myself a Caldigit TB dock so i can have any of my external HD’s hooked up to it.

I would certainly recommend the M1 24”

A shame you cant sell you MBP to MacBuyBack as the were brilliant regarding my 27”

Regards

Good to hear, mines on order!!! (16Gb)

Anyone got a MacBuyBack voucher as there’s an option there I see.

Thanks

Glad to hear you have one on order and I don’t think you will regret it.

I see you can get a code for MacBack via savoo.co.uk although not sure if they work but might be worth looking at

I sold my late (fairly high spec) 2013 Retina 13" MBP via MacBack. Apple quoted £210 trade in.

The MB had two issues - screen delamination and poor battery condition (not surprising after all that use). It was cosmetically about 99% perfect. I emailed MacBack and they said grade it without the issues and they'd deduct £40 for the green and £75 for the battery. The original quote was £369.75. After they received it, they reduced the quote to £254.75, exactly as per the email. I did have to chase payment (just over a week) but I'm very happy with them. I'm not sure I'd have got a lot more on eBay and it's far less hassle.

Glad you got a satisfactory result and as you say a lot less hassle than Ebay especially regarding fees etc.
I think most trade in places take about a week to process from start to finish and when I use MacBuyBack they said it would be five days from receiving it to payment (If accepted) and it was spot on the five days.

Do any of these companies buy Mac displays?
I have a 23 inch Cinema Display (which I loved).

It is mint in box.....only issue is a single white line across the centre of the screen.
I am wondering if this can be refurbished.

Can't bring myself to just throw it away....🤪

Out of interest, I just checked and the current MacBack offer for my spec MBP has plummeted to £242.25 (from £369). I guess they must have plenty in stock now. MacBuyBack quote system doesn't go back before 2014 for MBP so I can't get a comparative quote.

Yes it seems like they have a limit as to what year the model is.
It could be worth phoning them as i gave them a call before going ahead selling my Imac to them and the lady was very helpful so it might be worth asking ?

Looking to offload an old iMac. Found a company who pay for DPD pickup as they are big and heavy, called “MacBack”, this is in UK.

Has anyone used them before? They are giving about £80 more than Apple where I could walk in and give it to an Apple store, so wondering if worth it.

Thanks
I know this message is old, but I’m going to reply anyway in case someone else is looking for feedback-

I sent in an old Mac after they quoted me £50 for it, which was fine with me since I knew it was old but fully working. When they received it, they changed the offer to £10—which is frankly ridiculous. I immediately asked for the Mac back.

They claimed there was a problem with the screen (scratches and non-functioning pixels), which was not true at all. Then they also said the keyboard was faulty—again, very strange, as it was working perfectly when I sent it.

When I got the Mac back, I discovered it had a missing key on the keyboard (which wasn’t missing when I sent it—I even have photos to prove this) and a small dent. Clearly, the damage happened in transit, but they didn’t acknowledge this or offer any proper solution. I even lost a buyer who turned down the sale because of the missing key that I only discovered when unpacking.

I expected much better service and accountability, especially since they should have insurance or coverage for shipping damage. Overall, extremely disappointed and I would not recommend them based on this experience.

They've been well dodgy with me. Never using them again.
I realise I didn’t give much info. Had a similar issue to LLDG. Traded in my old Intel MBP which was in pristine condition since it just had a new keyboard and battery

MacBack messaged me to tell me they were dropping my quoted price due to some fabricated issue. Luckily i had video and photo evidence before sending off as i always do and sent it to them. Told them I’d seek legal action.

They then replied apologising. But having read other reviews this is their tactic. Make up issues or create them to drive the price down. I would avoid like a plague.

I've used CEX a few times for Macs. There's a shop near me. It's not the best price in the world, but it's fair, and you are there while they inspect it. You can check the price on their website first.

For the best prices, you can't beat eBay, but you have to do all the posting and packing and admin yourself.
