That's the point... Apple is pushing users to waste their money on the $1500 phone to get a better resolution instead of atleast adding the same resolution from their 5.5" device to their 6.1" one. That's not business that's greed and milking cash from costumers as much as they can.

Except they're not really pushing people to the 1500$ phone. It exists. But there's nothing special about the highest end beyond storage.

How are they pushing you to it?

If you're going to have a conversation at least make it coherent.

Apple's pushing people to the 512GB version of the XS to get the screen? As if the 64 or 256GB version don't have the same screen?

Thank you. This person has decided the alternatives forum is rhe place to push the bias and it's getting old. I'd like to think we can enjoy Android without pushing BS about Apple.

I still find the whole resolution argument to be the domain of internet nerds (that's self descriptive).

In the real world, your average 40-something iphone buyer literally can't see the difference in PPI at that point. Nor does the average person care once the 326 ppi "retina" threshold has been crossed. We see arguments like the screen should be 2K or 4K "by now" which is just admitting that someone stating that just wants useless specs above all else.

You love to counter arguments with useless ones, it's still expensive at $1.099 starting price.

Honestly, I'd take the 326ppi Xr for two reasons, a) battery life and b) you really cannot tell a difference once you hit a certain PPI. I will say however, it'd be better (and more expensive) if it was OLED.

It's not about that but more about Apple's greed and their defensors, if they'd put a 340x160 resolution on the phone there would still be these same people using the same argument they only have that "most people don't notice". For an expensive phone which the XR is atleast keep 1080p as the older 8 Plus.

What BS? I only talk facts, I also use Apple products and I'm not eye covered to defend a company over their greediness.

The fact that you're using such hyperbole kind of says enough about your arguments.

I’m not the one that inferred that the only way to get the better screen is to fish out $1500.

You knew aswell what I was going for and you're trying to go off-topic with that $1500 argument.

As always lack of counter facts and arguments and then attacking other's. Remember not go off-topic. :)

I'm not attacking you, I'm attacking the validity of your argument. Just because we don't care about 1080p doesn't mean we want 240p.

I honestly thought you were PURPOSELY making the jump to the $1500 device. Disingenuous is rampant in these forums, if that wasn’t what you were aiming for I apologize.

Though, again, I have to ask why it’s upselling in the phone market that has somehow taken you by surprise, it’s literally the marketing strategy for every industry. I’ll ask again, does your car have power windows and locks? I ask because mine didn’t, as that was an upsell for that year. It’s everywhere.

You not caring is subjective to your own opinion, the fact is that a 828p screen resolution in 2018 and almost 2019 on an expensive phone is greedy.

Listen, I am agaisn't Apple pricing strategies, it started with the 6 Plus by adding the features everyone would want like landscape mode, 1080p resolution, optical image stabilization thus pushing people to the more expensive phone, the same has happened with the 7 Plus with the dual camera and portrait mode, 8 Plus to X the exact same thing, now they are handicapping their less expensive model in a way that people feel "pushed" to go to the more expensive one so they don't miss on features. Did you know portrait mode only works for people and not objects like it does on the XS? You say you don't care because you don't use it but what if someone else cares? You say, well then they should purchase the XS which is more expensive, but in this case why keep portrait for people only on the XR? The same happens with the resolution and shows Apple's greediness because the XS is very very expensive. These are just some examples and if you notice carefully these practices are getting out of hand.

I like how you throw out mine as subjective and yours as somehow objective. They're both opinions. Neither are objective.

Because mine is based on the technology industry 1080p is something expected on a phone of this price in the year we live in, yours is subjective because your argument is the simple fact that "I don't care" or "People don't notice" which is an hyperbole just like you said to me above. Just because you don't notice doesn't mean others don't.

What a ****ing hack. He jumps back and forth between PPI and resolution in the very first minute of the video as if the two are interchangeable. What a shmuck.

Oh well, I'll still watch the shmuck, I don't mind his videos.
Hey, I might even get little wound up also.

A response to Lew's video. I love fpt.

Lol, this guy comes across as the Ted Cruz of the youtube community. While all the other YouTubers are rightfully expecting more from the most valuable company in the world, this guy sees an opportunity to get into Apple's good graces for those future reviews products. Give Apple credit for trying? And then, go crap on those "budget" phones for actually giving you great value? Ummm, ok. Lol

I had to call him out on his 1080p selection on YouTube.
Since I have every iPhone ever made (just about), I loaded up the old iPhone 4 and opened the YouTube app. Bam! 1080p selection was right there. While you may not actually be watching in "true" 1080, it still gives you the choice to scale it.

Misinformation is rampant.

That android smartphones cannot compete with given their current LCD displays.

Just curious.
Nope! Nothing but a crappy 828P LCD on your +$700 phone, nice one Apple, milk em' good!

And did someone mention HDR10 as well as Dual sim as iPhone pros, when we have had options for this since long ago in Android!? love this place!
