you know I really need to walk away from the mac, but... Will there be? Who knows. Can there be? Absolutely. Restriction is that Apple will not certify anything that operates over EDGE or 3G -- WiFi only for VoIP.

VoIP for WiFi would be killer.

Cruise Ships now have free WiFi, and NO Cell Service. Would work great there.
And many other places, too.

Oh, yeah, I don't see it as a problem, the WiFi restriction. Fact is, as popular as iPhone is, with EDGE and 3G iPhones all using cheap or free VoIP services over the carrier's data networks, VoIP is not terrible, but not exactly superiorly bandwidth conservative: People could beat down the data network so much with the free VoIP, you couldn't use the data network, for VoIP or anything else. As far as I know, the mobile iTunes Store is still WiFi-only, even though 3G speed make it theoretically more practical, and I believe YouTube videos are still sent at lower quality on 3G, all to keep traffic to a reasonable minimum on what in many places, especially the States, is essentially a completely and totally unlimited data plan.

On cruise ships, though, beware: those WiFI Internet connections are satellite. They're up/down is fast, but the latency may make VoIP calls a real pain to connect and maintain.

OKay, silly suestion.

I just installed iTunes 7.7, and i dont see Application store, or the ipod touch 2.0 software.

Does the App store only work on a Mac :p

Not sure if this has been answered but if not... Open iTunes, go to Edit --> Preferences --> select "Applications" next to "Show" --> OK

Hope that helps

Is anyone have trouble with all the location aware programs?

I am in the UK, I have tried using the location aware applications such as twitter and one of the movie application but each time every app tells me that they "can't find my location at this time".

Is this a non-gps iPhone problem, a UK problem, or just my problem?

No Apps store icon

I upgraded to itunes 7.7 on both of my computers (mac & a pc) and neither one has the app store icon under my "Library" like it is in the screenshots. Do I have to have 2.0 on my iphone/ipod touch for it to show up? Or do I just have bad luck with my updates?

Wow I totally missed it like 4 comments up. I must be blind

If there is anyone from Ireland reading this, can you find any games? The category is empty for me. Very frustrating.

2.0 is cool though.

Wow!

Just spent an hour of browsing all the goodies available – noted down quite a few free and cheap ones to gobble up ASAP. :D:D:D

I am amazed at such a fantastic start for the App store and at the creative pool of the developers. Keep 'em coming!!

Apparently apps you download on the phone don't show up in the Applications tab after you sync the iPhone? I would have thought they would.

Frommer's San Francisco - Free
Frommer's New York - $9.99

Why?

Also, I think it's kind of lame that Flickr charges for their app when you can get it on other phones for free.

I'm at work so I can't access the store, but has anyone seen an app that does video recording? I can't imagine one not popping up.

Where do you see Frommer's SF for free?

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but some apps don't work in Canada...

The eBay app only works in the US... what's that about?
