Or easier, you use a USB A to microUSB cable... Rather than buying Apple's silly pricy adapter.

I thought that was what they were supplying in the eu to meet the reg. the adapter that is. could have sworn I read that somewhere.

I hear you though. I use extra/old apple power bricks for USB devices myself

That's not how it works; the adapter being offered is lightning male to micro usb female so you can charge your iOS device with a micro USB cable.

No, they have never included the adapter. Its not related to the MOU. Its just an available accessory for purchase extra.

Yes that's right, makes sense. Do you know if data transfer works through the adapter?

Sorry, don't own one. :)

It should as they have to make the "Apple->USB-Transition" (so to speak) anyway, but who knows. If Apple doesn't have to, to meet the regulation then it's possible they didn't.

Thank Apple? They were the last to adapt to a smaller connector that is now the lightning connector and they still use a regular USB connection on one end.

Apple is usually not the first, but when they do something, they do it well.

After Lighting came out and everyone was raving about how awesome it is, and that it's reversible and you don't have to worry about it, USB had to answer, Type-C is that answer.

Otherwise, IMO they'd have continued with microUSB 3.0 connector.

Except when they don't. There have been many Apple mistakes in both hardware and software, throughout the companies history. No one is perfect, and not everything Apple does is considered great, or even 'good'. Remember MobileMe? Or the Apple Maps fiasco? Antennagate?

I agree although I think Google made the most mistakes out of the Big Three followed by MS. Like you said, no one is perfect. Rather does get annoying though when things gets cancelled (Google) or in apple's case obsolete.
