"Costs extra money"What does the "e" even mean?
"Costs extra money"What does the "e" even mean?
Only iPhone 16e is friendly with implanted medical devices. No MagSafe is baffling and stupid.
Should have MagSafe and start at $499.
iPhone 15 has a superior screen, dynamic island, and MagSafe, for the same starting price of the 16e.
Some people don't purchase used phones. You can easily find a 14 pro with 1tb of storage for less than the base 16e. Would much rather have that phone. It has magsafe, it has a dynamic island, it has a better camera, it has 120hz refresh rate...
You take away the names and release dates of the two phones and compare them and the 14P wins by a mile. usb-c and AI are not a huge draw IMO.
At a max starting point of $499 it would have been good. $400-450, great. $600? Joke.
The phone exists to increase the value of the company. Since this is not some stockbro subreddit I could not give half a thimble of excrement about that. Apple has proven they can increase the value of the company and also present the user with products worth the medium to high price tag they slap on the gadgets they sell. In this instance, what they've done is make a move to increase the value of the company while needlessly pissing on and laughing at the customer while doing so.Some people don't purchase used phones.
And all of that posturing only means you don't understand the purpose of this phone. Hint: it has nothing to do with upgrading to an older pro model
600$ for a “budget” phone….
Get real
Im guessing economy. Its possible that they will now release one each year given that the attached the e to 16 rather than calling it the SEWhat does the "e" even mean?
Umm, say what?Apple: Announces iPhone, now with an 'e'. It’s the most powerful e they’ve ever made.
Microsoft: Announces Majorana 1 quantum computing chip.
You all moaners
You wait until autumn 🍂 when the 17 lineup comes out and THEN see the prices on them lot. 🤣🤣

That might be your kink, but it ain't mine.
Spoken like a true Day One buyer (trying to justify their purchase )This phone gets people on 4+ year old phones to upgrade.
And it will do that well. It's a better phone than the 14 in all of the ways people with old phones upgrade, battery, software, camera, safety.
There's no kink(?). Just wait until Jan of next year when this phone enters the top 10 phones sold globally. Until then, stay mad
It's a perfectly reasonable thing to expect in 2025.sure, since Apple is known as a charity...

I guess if you want Magsafe with the 16e, now you're compelled to put it into a Magsafe case, but from what I understand most, maybe all, of the current Magsafe cases, including those with stronger magnets, don't have as strong a magnetic grip as built-in Magsafe, so placing a 16e that's in a current Magsafe case onto a Magsafe accessory that places the 16e at an angle or vertically (whether in portrait or landscape orientation) may result in the phone falling off. Maybe this is an opportunity for iPhone case makers to create a new model specifically for the 16e, with magnets as strong as built-in Magsafe. So there is no Qi charging available of any kind? Haven't iPhone had that since like the iPhone 8/10?
EDIT - I see Qi charging is supported
Agreed., and was going to post the same thing. I was interested and potentially a little excited until I read no MagSafe. I can't understand that decision. Is it the cost of having to add and shield the magnets?Ugh- No MagSafe?!
For Real?
TOTAL deal breaker in my view
I'm way in on MagSafe now
AU$999 in Australia. That's most of the way to a 15 and not much further to a 16. I don't get it. Is this an excuse to bump the prices of the flagship models? I hope not.Omg, nearly 800 USD in Europe. Yeah, I don’t know anymore… I hope there are still refurb iPhone 14. Sounds like a better phone for a lower price if you don’t care about “AI” and can deal with the Lightning port.
I’m pretty disappointed to be honest. Been waiting for such a long time and then they ask 800 USD for their “budget” phone…. ☹️
Seems like maybe Apple is trying to multi-position the 16e both as a replacement for anyone still using an iPhone through the 11 and maybe the 12 too, as well as a slightly budget-conscious version of the 16 lineup. With emphasis on "slightly".I wouldn’t even call it a 16 in new pajamas. The 16 is a better phone in several ways. I lol’d when looking at Apple’s website and found their numbers are from comparing it to the iPhone 11. I mean, I hope a new phone, ‘budget’ or not, would stack up well against a phone from 5 generations ago. Sheesh.
