The phone exists to increase the value of the company. Since this is not some stockbro subreddit I could not give half a thimble of excrement about that. Apple has proven they can increase the value of the company and also present the user with products worth the medium to high price tag they slap on the gadgets they sell. In this instance, what they've done is make a move to increase the value of the company while needlessly pissing on and laughing at the customer while doing so.

Pricing wise in UK/Europe I think the base iPhone 16 is actually better value for money especially if you can get it with some money off like on Amazon.
Im guessing economy. Its possible that they will now release one each year given that the attached the e to 16 rather than calling it the SE

$750 for an "entry-level" iPhoneSE is absurd; it's a phone for goodness sake. What's the expression about how easy it is to part a fool from their money?
This phone gets people on 4+ year old phones to upgrade.
And it will do that well. It's a better phone than the 14 in all of the ways people with old phones upgrade, battery, software, camera, safety.

May purchase for my mother-in-law at some point to upgrade her 5 year old phones, but that's the point
I guess if you want Magsafe with the 16e, now you're compelled to put it into a Magsafe case, but from what I understand most, maybe all, of the current Magsafe cases, including those with stronger magnets, don't have as strong a magnetic grip as built-in Magsafe, so placing a 16e that's in a current Magsafe case onto a Magsafe accessory that places the 16e at an angle or vertically (whether in portrait or landscape orientation) may result in the phone falling off. Maybe this is an opportunity for iPhone case makers to create a new model specifically for the 16e, with magnets as strong as built-in Magsafe.
Agreed., and was going to post the same thing. I was interested and potentially a little excited until I read no MagSafe. I can't understand that decision. Is it the cost of having to add and shield the magnets?
AU$999 in Australia. That's most of the way to a 15 and not much further to a 16. I don't get it. Is this an excuse to bump the prices of the flagship models? I hope not.
Seems like maybe Apple is trying to multi-position the 16e both as a replacement for anyone still using an iPhone through the 11 and maybe the 12 too, as well as a slightly budget-conscious version of the 16 lineup. With emphasis on "slightly".
